Gf and I were able to go to the one in Denton one time when she lived out there, because the place was always so packed. So, when we noticed they had a location near us after we moved we decided to try it again. Everything they serve is "texas size", so be warned. Those "two pancakes" youre getting are not the small, sad pancakes IHOP serves. They are huge whopper pancakes. And theyre delicious. Thing is, Im trying to go gluten-free. They had a section of menu for "just eggs & meat". Figured thatd be a winner, but it was mostly "make your own combo" stuff that had eggs, meat and then choice of bready sides (toast, oatmeal, etc). I was floundering around on the menu, because I didnt want to eat mexican food for breakfast (they had to juevos rancheros and such). I finally settled on an omelot. I asked for corn tortillas and tomatoes as my sides. The omelot that came out was stuffed and delcious! The corn tortillas were some of the best Ive ever had. I dont know if they make them from scratch, but they were amazing! I tossed some omelot + tomato into the tortilla and made some wraps, and good lord they were delicious. Hot, tasty, and satisfying! My gf got some french toast thing, and she couldnt stop singing praises for it. A friend of ours finished off her plate, so no complaints there. Her bf ordered a full breakfast thinking it was dinky IHOP style; he could only make it 1/2 way through his pancakes, because they were so huge. At the Denton location my gf tried a variety of things not knowing if wed ever make it back, so we know the biscuits, pancakes, french toast and eggs/meats are great. I dont think you can go wrong with the menu. Well definitly be going back, especially since we were able to get into this location without having to wait an hour.

Old West Cafe serves up some pretty good breakfast. Thats a fact. Not the best Ive had, but better than most. The 6 Gallon Shooter and the US Marshall were our two entrees. The former was open faced biscuits topped with chicken fried steak, gravy, and eggs cooked to your specifications (fried, in my case). The biscuits didnt have the optimal flaky, crumbly texture I was expecting, and lacked a real butter taste, so that was disappointing. The chicken fried steak, however, was one of the best ones Ive had in a long time. The gravy was also excellent. The eggs were cooked as expected as well. Altogether, it tasted very good. The hashbrowns were the sides and they didnt have much flavor to them - butter, spice, or anything. They were greasy, but I guess cooked in a cheap vegetable oil or margarine. The US Marshall was Texas toast with hashbrowns, gravy, and eggs with a side of ham. The ham was incredible. Smokey, moist, delicious. The rest of it tasted as you would expect: mostly like gravy and Texas toast. In short, Old West Cafe servers a solid breakfast. They were slammed when I went, so sitting down and getting served is a bit slow. However, I will definitely try this place again when Im in the area; however, Ill be trying some different options, mainly omelets.

This place is amazing. Its got a country feel, and the food is as good as the atmosphere. When we walked in, we were surprised by how stereo-typically country it was. There were 2 sheriffs drinking coffee in the front, some cowboys across the room, and a couple construction workers seated next to us... the waitresses seemed to know everyone that walked in the door. Anyway, back to the review. We had a couple french toast meals. The portions were great, the sides were cooked perfectly, and the taste was outstanding. I really think that whatever you order here, you cant go wrong. Everyone in the place seemed to be really enjoying their meal... AND its reasonably priced! The parking is the only thing Id have a complaint about, but thats just because the place is so popular that it fills up quickly. We will definitely be back when were in the area... they also have a location in Grapevine I think, so Im sure well see more of this place! Great food Great people Great environment They definitely got this one right.

I wasnt too pleased service was not good and the food was fried in grease and served in grease. Probably if I asked for extra grease I could have got it. I had read the reviews and expected great but did not get it. Ordered Bacon and Cheese Omelet. Bacon was long rashers with the fat curling at the edges looking at me. Cheese Omelet was really covered in grease and before I took a bite I was not feeling good about it. You guessed it I couldnt taste the cheese. Nobody asked me how things were, but three waitresses including mine had plenty of time to gossip about their previous nights adventures.Had to ask for more coffee . Prices were steep for what I got but at least I got it. The family next to me who ordered at the same time were still waiting when I left.

Wow! Really wow! The best food Ive ever had! So their a little crowded... and you have a 15-20 minute wait... but it is sooo worth it! My husband and I come every Sunday! In the probably 50 times we have been here for lunch and breakfast never once had a bad experience! Ive read some of the other reviews on here, the few bad ones are clearly written by never happy people on their high horses, I dont believe for a second that if there ever was a problem with service that it was not fixed immediately, the dark headed female manager on the weekends is always so sweet and checking on everyone! I personally love seeing her doing more than just her job to help everyone out, from running food and cleaning tables... old west has is together!

WARNING!! If youre meeting other people here, choose someplace else to meet then carpool. Parking can be very difficult at this location (even with additional parking in the back) and if youre trying to park in the street or at a nearby business you can probably count on being towed. Otherwise, the breakfast is great (generous portions, about ~$9 a plate and tasty food/coffee). Plus the staff are experts at handling busy crowds so you can usually get a table within 15 minutes, but just be aware that the kitchen can be a bit slow getting food out quickly (~10-15 minutes from order to table). But if youre willing to deal with some very minor issues you will be treated with a great breakfast (I dont know anything about lunch here).

If I could give this establishment a higher ranking of stars I would. Amazing service from the time we stepped foot inside to the moment we left the establishment. The food was amazingly delicious. I had scrambled eggs bacon and hash browns the price was about $7.00. My son had eggs sausage potatoes and hash browns the price was about $8.00. My Mother had oatmeal with a bagel the price was about $7.00. Overall an amazing restaurant. Clean friendly it was busy but they are very fast even with a big rush. Love this place!!!

Visited Old West Cafe and we were satisfied with the results after all the hype. The French toast was good, the pancakes are huge, and the Panhandler bowls were a taste of Texas past. The Panhandler bowls had an open faced biscuit bottom smothered in a sausage cream gravy, scrambled egg layer with hash brown fried potatoes mixed in with melted cheese on top. Great taste of a Southern breakfast, but its not for the healthy minded. Was good experience with family while visiting Grapevine,TX.
