Whether youre looking for a nice date spot, a simple tasty lunch, or anything in between, City Cellar is a fantastic choice! MENU - Still an amazing and diverse selection, including Mediterranean-inspired appetizers, homemade pizzas, savory sandwiches and entree salads, hearty pastas, and some really filling fish, poultry, and meat selections. We went straight for the jugular and ordered up a Long Island duck and braised lamb shank, splitting a beef carpacchio appetizer. Per the waiters recommendation, we washed it down with a shared half-bottle of Pinot Noir. Instead of the tri-fold menus of the past, all options are on one side of a rigid menu "board," with a separate menu of daily specials. PRICES - Theyve increased a bit since my last visit, but portions are generally appropriate for what theyre charging. I always found City Cellar to be very reasonable anyway - now I guess theyre just a bit less reasonable :) SERVICE - Always impeccable. Every server Ive had, including our waiter last night carries a professional yet friendly demeanor. Theyre prompt to top off wine and water, check on meals at least once, and make honest food and drink recommendations. Last night, we had a reservation for 7pm. We arrived early, and they reciprocated, seating us nearly 10 minutes ahead of our reservation, and giving us a spacious booth, even though we were only a party of two! VENUE - Theyve expanded the space to include outdoor seating out front, sheltered by some neatly manicured shrubs and trees. Additionally, theyve expanded the eastern edge of the building to include a private catering/party space - my guess is they could probably accommodate about 80-100 seated guests in that area, although it lacks the openness (high ceilings), and warmth of the main dining room. Overall, this place is an easy five stars in my book, and fills a good niche not served by other nearby restaurants.

This vendor/venue has nothing but unprofessional people working in their establishment. I contacted the venue to book an engagement party multiple ways I attempted contact (email, voice messages), without any response. The coordinator was always unavailable. Finally I asked to speak with the Manager, his name is James. He was of no help at all and it almost felt as if this was his first time being or playing a manger. He made excuses for his new event coordinator, Christis non-professionalism. After speaking with this waste of my time manager I then was put on the phone with the coordinator who had not a clue of what type of event I was attempting to book even though she said she was reading from the notes that had been left for her. Meanwhile I sent emails!! Not only did they not have the day that I was requesting they magically had my alternate date with a maximum of 48 people when I requested 50. Does this not sound odd? The only reason I even thought to book this place is because my sister raved about the event coordinator Jessica! I was informed that Jessica was no longer with them from the FIRST DAY MANAGER JAMES!!! I feel as though the name MECCA that was attached to the messages was the reason for the poor attention and non-professionalism I was subjected to. I would NEVER SUGGEST ANYONE BOOK HERE!!!!

Not impressed, here are the problems: Clamari was dry and rubbery. It worst than a stale potato chip. The shrip and scallop risotto was over salted. The shrimp was dry and scallop tasted frozen. the portion size of the risotto was about 1/2 cup cooked, quite small. The crab crusted Sea Bass was frozen and rubbery. It was no more than a 4 out of 10. The Steak Frittes was extremly hard to chew (it was ordered medium) Grilled New York Strip w/ bone marrow had a bone with no marrow. (the marrow was all dried up) The Crab cakes appetizer was worth at most $3.00 per cake not the $14.50 they charged. The crab cakes was about 2 inches wide and 1 inch tall (really quite small) When we asked for a box to pack-up a childrens grilled cheese w/ fries, they threw away half the food. (although when we complained about it, they boxed up a fresh order of grilled cheese) They tried to squeeze the entrees onto the table because the failed to clear the table after the appetizers. The coffee was like luke warm dirty mud. when we asked for a fresh brew, they gave us a hot cup of waterr dirty mud. They made adjustments to the bill to try to accommodate their short comings.

I was disappointed and very uncomfortable at the reception I received at City Cellar. This is 2010, a time when attracting a diverse clientele should be desired instead of frowned upon. The reception I received was extremely cold. I was dining with two friends, both of whom were Caucasian, I am African American. The manager came to our table at the request of one of the friends I was dining with. He kept his back to me the entire time he was at my table addressing the issue. When he wished my friends a pleasant dining experience, he totally ignored my existence. The same attitude was demonstrated when the waitress collected our payment, her "Thank you" was not addressed to me even though my credit card was one of the three presented to pay the bill. I guess this attitude is the reason why there were no other persons of color in the restaurant.

I went for the Jazz Brunch on Sunday, the 23rd of February. 1. The Jazz group while very decent were just WAY TOO LOUD! We had difficulty talking to each other, and contrary to the belief of musicians and many a eatery, Brunch or for that matter any meal is about social interaction with your table mates. 2, The food was ok, nothing outstanding, but definitely not bad. 3. However, with that being said, my wife ordered a size of bacon. For $4.00, she recieved a stip and 1/2 of bacon. How ridiculous! When I told the two girls at the reservation desk, I was greet with a "who cares" stare. I didnt ask for a refund, but was looking for at least an apology. That stare, unfortunately has consequences, such as this review, the loss of patronage and the bad press that City Cellar will received. Not smart... Not good business.

We went to a "Mothers Day Brunch" 5/9/10 at CC in Westbury. The food served was adequate and fairly tasty, probably a 2 out of five rating. The single line food table led to a long line of patrons waiting to eat while coffee and juice was served by a bartender taking drink orders at your table. The bill was the largest disappointment of the meal. The price for the brunch was high but acceptable (after all, it was Mothers Day) but when we discovered we were charged extra for the coffee and juice we realized we fell victim to a cheap eatery trick. Sorry...last brunch at City Cellars. The food isnt that exceptional to return there either.

I came here on a Friday night Food was decent at best. Service was TERRIBLE and Ive definitely experienced better. The staff was inattentive and clearly just did not want to be there. Nor did they want to wait on any tables. Clientele is relatively ratchet and the bar area was full. It should be for a Friday night. The table area was almost completely empty but we still had a 20 minute wait. By the time we decided to leave, they texted me that a table was ready. There are plenty of other options in the plaza. I just wish we made a quicker decision to leave.
