HOLY CRAP this place is AWESOME. I have been in Syracuse for work for more than a week. My mistake was coming here during March Madness. Lines out the door, people from out of town and here in Syracuse cant get enough of this stuff. I decided not to go to the Michigan State vs Louisville bball game in order to get a seat in the place. Didnt wait long and found a table by the bar that had a view of the game. Met a guy from Syracuse thats a regular. I bought a pitcher of Blue Moon to share and thank my new friend for allowing me to share the table. He had just wolfed down a half rack of ribs. I thought I would play it cool share the pitcher and have his seat to watch the rest of the game and then the follow on one with Duke and Gonzaga. Didnt happen. I ordered a full rack of ribs, three sides (mac n cheese, cajun corn and greens). Corn bread was on the side too....very tasty. Kayleigh was my server and did an amazing job. The place was rocking, it was packed, food flying out of the kitchen and then this dude stops by to ask how things are going. I asked, "Who are you and do you work here." His short answer was Kevin and "Yes" Kevin, a managing partner stopped by to see how the food was. I, for the first time in my life, other than meeting my wife of almost 29 years, was speachless. I couldnt find the words to describe this culinary experience other than, "Fing awesome!" :D My dad lives in Austin so we have Rudys BBQ, Iron Works and other great places to eat. I live in Raleigh, NC (I am not a huge fan of Carolina bbq but love KC bbq and Memphis bbq). What Im trying to communicate here is this PLACE ROCKS. Kevin asked if I had tried the wings? I said no. Next thing I know a plate of 12 wings (two kinds) are the table. They are smoked. Home made blue cheese dressing. These are meaty wings. I mean the kind you can take a second and third bite kind of good meaty wings. Smoked and cooked to perfection. They were super moist and the best I have ever had. Forget frying the wings. This place knows how to do them right. The table across from me had steamed shrimp. They loved their meal too. The folks behind me were chowing down too. The options are plentiful. Price is right. The pitchers were 16 bucks each, more than four pints. The entre about 27 bucks for the full rack and sides. I have the rest of the meal with me in the hotel room and will eat it tomorrow. Bottom line, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy this place. If you dont, theres something wrong with you :D Scott Cary, NC

Bottom line up front: Medicore lunch at an average price point, high 3.5-4 star experience in the end. When I entered around 3pm on a Thursday I was greeted immediately by the hostess and shown a seat. I ordered a full rack of ribs, with Mac and cheese & fruit salad sides ($25.95). With ice tea (2.95). My dining partner who had been here before also ordered a full rack. When asked if corn bread was included in the meal the waitress brought out a plate of cornbread and said "okay Ive brought some extra." The corn bread was stale and almost inedible. I was only able to eat a bite. The ribs were enjoyable, I was glad I got the full rack as half was rather thin. But it was cooked spot on and seasoned well. The Mac and cheese was pleasant with a hearty sauce. And the fruit salad was mediocre, containing several crushed blue berries and a stray lettuce leaf. All in all the experience was mediocre. Maybe it centred around the stale corn bread. But I was left without the desire to rush back for more. When the issues with the meal were brought up to our waitress she apologized and asked what she could do to fix it. Offering a gift certificate for $10 I will be sure to return for a dinner meal to give the restaurant another shot. As its reputation seems outstanding, and the staff seem to want to make and effort to please customers. Even if this experience was a bit off. Still a four star experience.

Worst experience ever. I went here for my 21st birthday and had a terrible time. There was a wait to be seated and then a wait of 10 minutes to get our drinks and more than half of the tables in the place were empty!! The server then walked away before letting us place our order. I got an appetizer which I have to say the portions were tiny for the amount I paid. Next, when we got our dinner we realized we did not have enough forks. Where was our waitress? No where to be found. I got to eat after finally stealing a fork off of another table. During this entire time and throughout the whole dinner, there was a "band" which sounded more like a dead cat screaming playing music at a volume level so loud I could not even have a conversation without having to yell / scream to someone next to me. The band players were drunk and obnoxious, making comments to those seated around them who were clearly trying to enjoy their dinner. Horrible restaurant management. To top it all off, the bill came out incorrect, and I didnt even get a free drink or dessert for my 21st birthday! I will NEVER go back to dinosaur BBQ and will recommend anyone who ever asks to NEVER go as well.

Once entering you will be compelled to eat because of the aromas ever present. The staff are friendly even when at their busiest. The food is incredibly delicious. I stuck with pulled pork BBQ forgoing the daily specials or anything complicated. I tend to be a conservative and unadventerous eater. However if the other foods are anything half as good as the BBQ pork was then I cant imagine anyone would be disappointed. The atmosphere is sort of a mix between Grateful Dead and motorcycle club and perhaps a bit of an attempt at being contemporary. It could have been stark white walls and stainless steel plain furniture and the food would have been no less better than in the setting you will find. This was my first visit since arriving in Syracuse a little over a month ago. I was told I must eat there because it is a requirement of all residents of Syracuse. Whether that is true or not it would be a good rule. I was not disappointed and will certainly be eating there again, most likely soon. I cant recommend this place highly enough. Im a loyal fan now.

Food quality has weakened over the years. Staff not so friendly anymore. In the past year the food in syracuse and NYC has gone from excellent to die for, to slightly above average. Two visits ago we had a hostess tell us to sit at a table, and a waitress passionately argue we cant sit there, and hostess told us to go back to table. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION. I had to threaten to leave to get a differant table. We went back to syracuse Dino last night and mac and cheese Luke warm to cold, burgers both were very salty, mashed potatoes were very bland, black beans and rice bland and differant than what we expected. I called the supervisor immediately after leaving and discussed my recent experiences, she told me they changed vendors, then she told me to hold on a minute. I remained on hold for 12 minutes until the phone hung up. I have been a passionate proponent of dinosaur for 20 years and have eaten there thousands of times. I have never had bad experiences there until now. Im not sure how often I will be going there now. Sad.
