Visited the restaurant on 30Apr16 at 1115. We were greeted and seated promptly by the hostess. Four adults one child (high seat). As we sat down in a booth we were greeted by the sever, who I cant remember. We took waters all around so we could pick our drinks. We also ordered a buffalo chicken chip dip. The water was brought in a timely manner, myself and brother asked for a beer each, I asked for the 22oz of coors, my brother 22oz of the Bones special. It took VERY long to receive these drinks. I want to say at least 10 or 15 minutes for my coors, which when he brought it over said that the bones special was being change and would be out in a minute. 10 more minutes pass and the sever said that what he had was the last of that beer, meaning it was never changed out, and didnt even bother to recommend another beer type so my brother just stayed with the beer he brought to him. Side note, we were not seen by the sever until my beer came and after my brothers, and thats when the dip came. Here nor there, we place our order for the entrée. Pretty much burgers all around. However I had mine rare, my wife had hers medium with no onions. We waited a good 40 minutes until our food came. The sever not once came to check up on us. My brother said he was just by the bar talking with Coworkers. Once we got the food, I find I have a medium burger with everything on it, and my wife has a rare with onions all over it. So now two meals are wrong. And you may wonder why we didnt say anything, well if the sever came to see how everything was, then we would have. Finally we had to go, still we had to ask a DIFFERENT sever for a box to go. We paid with the kiosk tablet. The sever, as we already paid and doing the survey, came over and apologized for how long it took for the food to come out, and said he would comp. the buffalo dip for the trouble. Would be nice if we didnt already swipe the card, how convienent . I watched 3 familys sit down after and leave before us. This was by far the worst experience of any restaurant in Virginia beach. I did restaurant service before, I went from busser, to EXPO, to server. I know how it works, and this is not how things are done.

Our favorite waiter, who takes great care of us, wasnt there so we got stuck with a less than mediocre waiter who honestly makes me not want to go back. When he brought out our food he had someone help him which is fine... except our waiter put one plate down and walked away without saying anything, meanwhile the other guy is standing there holding two plates but talking to the table behind him, puts down one plate and holds on to the other one and basically I felt like a dog waiting for a bone as he just stood there shining the plate in my face while continuing the conversation with the table behind him to the point where I wanted to snatch my food out of his hand. He finally puts it down, and walks away without asking how if were good or anything and walks off. Everyone at the table was shocked and we had to wait for TEN MINUTES to get butter which we originally ordered and dont get, and refill. The tiny Mason jars are only cute if you have a waiter that looks after you, otherwise youre sitting there for 10 to 15 minutes between drinks. I actually had to holler across the room at a different waiter to get something to drink. Honestly the worst experience Ive had at any restaurant in years, made me feel like I wasted a good night taking my family to a less than okay experience. If we ever go back we are definitely calling to make sure our favorite waiter is there, if he ever quits or gets fired Im definitely not going back. The food was ok though.

Me and my family came here for lunch today and it was just horrible. To start, when we were seated we didnt get a waitress till 10 mins later. When we told her what we wanted for an appetizer and drinks we waited for at least 10 mins to get the drinks. By the time the appetizer came we already ordered our meals and were out of drinks. When asked if we wanted a refill we said yes. She took our cups and we never got them back. Then, our food came out and i ordered a pork sandwhich with coleslaw. I never got the coleslaw. My sister asked for an extra side of mayo and she didnt get that either. My brother in law didnt even recieve his meal for another 5-10 mins. We still didnt have drinks to go with our meals. My sister finally got up to go ask someone if we were ever getting our drinks. Another waiter then got my sister her drink but the tea wasnt brewed so me and my brother in law were asked if we wanted anything in the meantime. We said we would like some water. NEVER GOT THE WATER. A few mins later we got our tea and when we asked him for straws, he never came back with them. Also, when we asked for the check, another drink, and boxes, the waitress came back with only the check and drinks. We had to wait another 10 mins in order to pay and leave. Overall just bad service and i suggest not going to this location.

I visited 7/24/16 @ approximately 8 p.m. Neither person at the entrance greeted me even though there was no line waiting to be seated. I went to the bar and placed an order ( ribs combo with brisket, broccoli and fries). Although the wait was reasonable, and the food was fairly warm, the plate had what appeared to be a fingerprint of mayonnaise on it. For it not to be "busy", the least that could be done was to check plates before they went out. This was not the biggest problem that I had. No more than 10 minutes after getting my food, the bartender asked me if I wanted a box to go. By that time, I had eaten 2 brisket chuncks along with maybe 6 fries. I took offense to it, because it said to me that I was not valued as a customer. It said in a passive way that it was time for me to go. I initially denied the box, but thought about what had just taken place. I asked for a box, paid, then left with no intent on returning anytime soon. Its unfortunate that I had this bad experience, especially since all of my previous ones, of several years in that place, were very enjoyable.

I came into smokey bones last night 8/11/2016 . It was moderately busy we only waited 5 minutes before we were sat . We were right away greeted with a big smile by out waitress Melissa. She started off by suggesting drinks and something to start with for us . She convinced me uno trying the cornbread and rum punch . AMAZING !!! When our food started to take a while she continued to apologize and started offering us something while we waited . Our food came out hot and looked as delicious as it tasted . We ordered food Togo for our friend in the hospital she got it out right away so we could hurry to her . Honestly one of the most amazing dining experiences Ive ever received and best Ive recovered from this location ! she was so kind and personable just made it absolutely enjoyable for my husband and I . We didnt take the survey she asked us too because we paid with cash . I wish we couldve tipped her more than 15$ cause she is worth it . If you go ask for her she will make it the best time ever thank you thank you thank you we will see you next week !!!
