My family and I were out looking for food and as we looked in the window, one of the people who worked there came out to give us a menu and answer questions. The guy was hlpful and they clearly were interested in geting our business. Inside the place, the service was equally eager, polite, and helpful. I actually dont eat pork, but I miss Pork BBQ sandwiches. This place serves Pulled Chicken and Beef BBQ as well, though. Turns out that not a lot of BBQ places serve that. Ive looked. In any case, the Chicken BBQ Sandwich was well done. The sauce and cooking were perfect and my wifes Beef Brisket was solid as well. They offer a great selection of sides, and a decent set of kids meals also. The food came out quickly and the staff was constantly cleaning and helping customers. These people were hustling to make it a good place to eat. Overall, I thought it was a great BBQ place and would recommend it to anyone in that area looking to support a local small business.

Love the food, just a little pricey. Theres an app that doubles as one of those "buy so many meals get one free" cards but unfortunately it doesnt save your "stamps" if you have to reset your phone or get a new phone. It seems like they may have changed ownership sometime earlier this year or maybe late last year. We went in and told the new owner that the previous owner gave us double stamps the last time because we were in there so often. Her initial response was "Why would he do that?" but eventually she just went ahead and stamped us up until we ended up getting free sandwiches on our next trip. The food is great, the only down-sides are that the place is a bit crowded and the high-top tables are a little awkward to get around. Otherwise, this is my go-to BBQ spot. Ive tried others since and have been disappointed. Easy five stars if they made their prices a little better and possibly re-arranged their dining area a bit. No complaints otherwise.

My wife and I stopped in there for lunch this afternoon. I got a pork slider and a brisket slider and my wife got the pulled chicken sandwich. All of which was pretty dry... seems like they cooked it somewhere else and reheated it there. Ive been to a bunch of other places like this that actually cook it at the dining establishment and I have never had the meat as dry as the meat from Smoked From Above. Im hoping it was just an off day... The actual taste of the meats were satisfactory but did have to add in extra sauces to make up for the dry texture. On a positive note, staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I may try it again but if I have the same experience, I will definitely end up dining elsewhere.

First Time Customer. I love BBQ and I love convenience so when I heard about this place right across the street from my work I was excited to try it, but you only get one chance to make a first impression and they made a bad one. I called to have lunch delivered LITERALLY right across the street from them and they informed me theyd have to charge me 5 dollar delivery fee. I also stated that I had a coupon that expired one day ago but I politely asked if they could honor it. Apparently they couldnt make an exception for a first time customer who could potentially be a repeat customer. Seems rather silly. Ill continue to go out of my way to better more friendly establishments in the future.

Amending a previous review stating that this was the best barbecue this side of the NC state line. The potato salad was undercooked. They no longer offer Brunswick stew. And half their food just doesnt taste the same. Shame because we have been coming since they opened. Wed regularly come every 2 weeks until 6 mos ago, had the loyalty app and would earn free food just about every other time we came. And as of now, we are done and will seek a new place. Its not what it once was ever since the owners wife took over this location a little over a year ago.

I am VERY happy with this food and service. Got a pickup order, called in, the lady was super nice and friendly. Got my order and everything was correct. Got home and finally got to try it and it was delicious! Moist chicken, well seasoned coleslaw, even the applesauce was amazing, and the hushpuppies were off the chain! LOL. They also offer a military discount! I will be a future returning customer! Well worth the drive from my house in Chesapeake!

I wish I could give this place a 4.5. The only thing that keeps me from giving a full 5 is the lackluster sides. I would grade my meal as follows: Hushpuppies....A+ Ribs...................A Sauce................A BBQ Beans........B- Coleslaw...........C- I added some of the spicy house BBQ sauce to my beans and that gave them a great flavor but there was nothing I could do to help the bland grocery-store quality coleslaw.

Wasnt real impressed with this place. Reviews were good, so thought I try it. Very expensive for just mediocre barbecue. Got a 2 meat meal with chicken and beef, beans and fries. Add a drink to that and it was 17 bucks! It was kind of a lot of food. But where Im from, 17 bucks can get you 2 meals and a lot better too. The beef was dried out, chicken was ok. Beans and fries were good. Probably wont eat there again .

Good service but high prices. I got the baby back ribs and they were good despite being slathered in barbecue sauce. The mac & cheese side was dried out and the collards were OK. Price for my meal with a drink was $21. Carolina Son and Mission Barbecue are a much better value for the money at $14 and $16 respectively and the ribs are far better in my opinion. That being said, I would still eat here again.

Fairly clean. I havent tasted the food yet but the customer service worth my experience wasnt good. The older lady taking my order didnt seem to really care about what I was saying because she left some things off of my order. She also seemed to have an attitude. Came out fast. UPDATE: As I left the store one employee was really welcoming and nice! So have yet to taste the food. UPDATE: Food is really good!

Amazing!! I wont say its the best but it is certainly up there to me. A large NC pork sandwich with slaw has American size portions of tasty, juicy, delicious pig. The slaw is a little dry but it helps not soak the buns. The only grief I could have is the price. Sandwich with slaw, hushpuppies and drink ran me about $9.00 without tip. They also offer military discounts! Make it here at least once!!

My family stopped in last minute to try the BBQ. It was great! The food was amazing, the service was quick, and everyone was courteous and helpful. They even gave my youngest a bowl of applesauce when they saw he was a bit too young for pulled pork. We will definitely be dining here again soon.

Tidewater Sew-Vac
We just repaired a Dyson vacuum for Michele Holland here at Tidewater Sew Vac and she graciously brought lunch in for our staff when she came to pick her vacuum up. I have had BBQ in Mephis, the Carolinas and I must say this was the tastiest I ever had. Thanks Michele!
