Theres not many places that still evoke Cheers "a place where everybody knows your name," but Rhodes North Tavern in tiny Sloatsburg, NY, is a front runner. From breakfast, lunch to dinner, Rhodes covers it all, with impeccable service, down-home country decor, top-notch food for all three services, and drinks to die for. A not-to-miss is the raw bar served each Saturday - Alaskan snow crab legs, oysters, Little Necks, and jumbo shrimp all iced to perfection, served with lemon wedge, horseradish and the tangiest cocktail sauce you will ever have. Wash it down with the Rhodes Bloody Mary - a gargantuan monstrosity served with the worlds largest prawn on top. Rhodes Bloody Mary may be the worlds greatest. I cannot under emphasize just how intense it is. This drink is not for the faint of heart, or those who find pepper to be spicy. It packs quite the kick, and the staff jam it with the freshest stalk of celery with leafy top, cucumbers, cherry tomato skewers, and previously mentioned shrimp on top. If youre looking for a drink that is a meal in itself, youve found your buffet. When seated at the bar, youll probably notice the mounted moose head wearing a hardhat, as well as several hundred pound hammerhead shark, and roaring black bear. Sure, the decor is not the first choice for most animal rights activists, but you will be made to feel at home here with NY states second largest state park - Harriman State Parks entrance is right up the road.

They have a gluten free menu and they state they have a separate gluten free prep area so I ordered the veggie burger from the gluten free menu but when I tested it with the Nima sensor before eating it, the sensor displayed it was positive for gluten. When I told our server I couldnt eat it because I would get sick if there is any gluten in the food, I then attempted to order what sounded like a safer item from the gluten free menu instead (gf pasta). She came back and told me that the kitchen said if I am that sensitive maybe I shouldnt eat there because they are very careful. Which I do appreciate them saying since I didnt want to get sick but I hope they will look into whether gluten got into the food through cross contamination or source ingredients having gluten in them (spices, flours etc). So I sat there and ate nothing while I watched my date eat his dinner, but I think thats better than getting sick. Our server was very nice & apologetic and a wonderful waitress and did offer a salad but at that point I didnt want to take the risk. I can not recommended for celiacs at this time.

we had lunch today, a tuesday, for two at noon. the restaurant was busy but not crowded and we were seated immediately. we didnt see a menu but chose from the verbal specials. the waitress was prompt and lunch arrived within fifteen minutes. the food was very well prepared and we both enjoyed the meal. the waitress returned several times to refill beverages. the check was about $30 for two, tax and tip included but w/o any alcohol. parking is not a problem. it can certainly be recommended for an informal or business lunch although its clearly a pub and not a place for a romantic dinner.

My husband and I would eat and drink here all of the time and use to love it. However in the past handful of times weve had subpar food, terrible service and my husband got sick from the burger the last time we were here a month ago. Not to mention, the place is starting to look run down and There is so much garbage and filth behind the bar which one can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. We keep going back hoping that each bad experience is a fluke, however it seems to be the norm nowadays for this place.

After a day in the city me and my father stopped at the tavern for dinner, despite it being crowded we were seated immedietly. After a quick wait we ordered our food. And quickly got it. I got the French dip, it was delicious, the meat was tasty and tasted good. The fries were nicely cut and appeared and tasted fresh. My father ordered the tavern burger, he said that it was great and cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. Overall great meal and hospitality. Good prices and a good meal!

Huge selection of food and great tasting too! The place can get a bit loud when really busy (usually is), so be forewarned. For those wishing to frequent the bar, huge selection of beer on tap and a very nice late-night menu available which is hard to come by in the area. Dont miss the outside area in the summer time as well as the fresh raw bar with a nice array of fresh seafood available a la cart. Rhodes has a great atmosphere and great food/drinks to back it up. Definitely stop in!

Rhodes has gone down hill in the last year, Was looking forward to there house hamburger Med-Rare came out Well DONE, baking paper on the roll, Caramelized onions were stringy from not being peeled properly, Condiments on the table were dirty and sticky, I honestly felt bad for the waited since all he did was say he was sorry. The deserts counter in the front area was dirty also, Rhodes was always a place to stop when ever I was on the NY Thruway now I keep on going.

Always at home. Raw bar during the summer months is phenomenal. Staff is always top notch. Live entertainment 5 nights a week. Drinks never disappoint where as food is above average...but all priced right. Sand pit in the back by the stream. 4 sided bar inside with plenty of large screen TVs within view; outside cabana with picnic tables and beach lounge chairs; fire pit in the evening; deck eating; second floor availability (which caters to group parties).

We made a reservation for noon today (Sunday). Since we werent told that only a very limited brunch menu was available until 1pm, we were very disappointed. We essentially had to stay because being seated elsewhere as a party of 11 would be virtually impossible with it being fathers day as well. Service was extremely slow (about 40 minutes) and my iced tea wasnt refilled. That being said, the food was worthy of 4*s.

Foods okay, nothing special, beware of how many motorcyclist there are on the weekends though. I also dont like how they post their political views outside, very unprofessional. (Hosted Trump rally during election + Blue Lives Matter sign). Regardless of my political views, I dont think a *business* should be displaying theirs when theres such an extreme controversy over it.

I have a house in Manhattan and in Monroe and Ive always passed by this place and never thought much of it. But today I decided to stop in and check it out. I had the T-bone steak with lobster tail, it was amazing. I would have never thought this place would be this good but out of my too ten places I gotta put this at number 3. It was just that. Good!!!

A cute little restaurant with lots of options on the menu so many options that my group ordered too much because we wanted to try everything. The food was actually pretty good and the drinks are awesome. They have a full bar. Theres a beautiful outside Beach area that is a very nice place to sit and relax and have some great conversations with friends.
