After reading the reviews , I believed it may be a fair experience in the least. My spouse claimed she never felt like running out a place as badly as she had after the mediocre meal and service presented in this place. The quality is certainly not anything I would ever want to ingest ever again. The quantity was possibly the worst I ever experienced in a Mexican restaurant, along side the quality. The server ruined the whole dining experience by assuming the guacamole we ordered was to come with our meal and not an appetizer to eat with the chips at the table. He then assumed the margaritas we ordered were a small drink size and not the texas size drinks everyone else seemed to be enjoying. My meal was an order of 3 skirt steak tacos with rice and beans. The rice and beans were served on a dish normally used when sharing appetizers , meaning there wasnt much of it at all. I asked for 4 tacos with my meal instead of the 3 as listed on the menu , I was told it wasnt a problem. However when my tacos were bought to the table on a tray that held them in an upright position the first thing clearly noticeable is 3 tacos were filled with steak and toppings at least half through the tortilla and there is this 4th one with a bizarre amount of steak and toppings missing from the tortilla. After having to point this unacceptable unappealing serving to the server. I then proceeded to consume my tacos, prepared with a steak quality far from any skirt steak I had ever eaten and more like a quality of steak I would never want to eat again. Seriously the tortilla even had an unappealing quality. Now the children were ordered a quesadilla, and to my amazement not even that was appetizing. It was made with an unknown quality of cheese that I guess was supposed to be mozzarella however was not quite so; Furthermore my quesadilla preferably should be made with a sharp cheddar cheese and some salsa at the least. Unfortunately the only thing enjoyable was the salsa placed at the table when first walked in because the chips werent purchased to be pleasant to the taste, of which I would not want to pay the amount billed just to enjoy salsa. Sadly any good ratings given prior to mine must be ownership using false emphasis , and poor business tactics. Purchase products which represent quality and your ratings will come from satisfied guests.

We went to Maya Cafe last night for a last minute New Years Eve dinner. Our first time there. Im from California so I know good Mexican food. Since living on the East Coast Ive been disappointed more than Ive been impressed with it, so I wasnt expecting much. I was blown away! This was the BEST MEXICAN FOOD AND MARGARITAS IVE EVER HAD!!! From start to finish, everything was so good it was crazy, including excellent, friendly service. Atmosphere was everything you want in a Mexican restaurant...lively, colorful, lots of lights and fun. Margaritas were perfect, strong and not too sweet but just right. Salsa and chips on the table were on point and they made homemade guacamole at the table that was to die for. I got their beer battered fish tacos and they were the best Ive ever had...even the hot sauce they brought to the table in a corona bottle was incredible, they might have made it in house too. My hubby had shrimp quesadillas and was very impressed with them. The entire staff was so accommodating and friendly. I think the owner even came to our table amd chatted with us for a bit. The hostess even kept coming over and picking up my sons toys he kept dropping. Even the food runners had smiles on their faces. I cant recommend this place enough. It sounds so cliche but I cant wait to go back. Maybe for New Years breakfast today if theyre open:)

Im very upset to be writing this review seeing as how my boyfriend and I have had many great meals at Cafe Maya. We went there with friends on Saturday night. The manager was told it was my birthday so the band came over and sang to me and gave me a sombrero. They never took it back so i figured it was a gift that they give to people celebrating birthdays. We were walking out of the restaurant when we saw one of the managers running after us. we turned to see what he needed and he said he needed the hat back because Cinco De Mayo was coming up soon and they didnt have that many. No problem! I gave him back the hat without an issue. He stood there after i handed him the hat, for some reason offended, and then proceeded to slam the hat back on my head and said " Here! You need this for your juicy taco!" Im curious if sexual harassment is something that this manager does on a nightly basis to women.....needless to say i wont be going back there. Too bad....the food is really great!

This is not really a Tex-Mex restaurant but relative modified taste to the American palate to specific regional Mexican dishes so you should review the menu for those dishes that represent somewhat their eastern Mexican origin. Review the menu carefully. The specials etc.are delicious and no comparable cuisine is available for many many miles. entertainment is appreciated when available certain times if this is what you also like. Some standard drinks are mixed in advance for obvious reasons as the place is mostly well attended. It is unlikely that most will notice a difference if a pre-mixed Margarita. is presented. Please! The help is not trained by the not too distant CIA, but probably by the school of hard knocks, but they try their best. Their libation selections are typical for the clientele that attends this eatery. Prices are reasonable.

Went on a Wednesday evening, very attentive and friendly staff. Homemade salsa was so delicious we ordered some to go. Really enjoyed watching our guacamole being made at the table. So fresh! My husbands fish tacos were great and my "burritos vegetables" were so good I could not stop eating, even though two of them nearly filled me (three in all). Our friend ordered mushroom quesadillas, while openly not being a "big fan of mushrooms" but desirous of trying something new. He ate all the quesadillas except 2. Then he ate one more and finally decided he just could not fit the last quesadilla into his full stomach! But he would have! My only objection: prices were a tad high, but I understand, because people are willing to pay for great food!

Sorry, I am not sure why this place even exists. The margarita was poured from a twist-off bottle, I ordered an additional shot and poured it in just to make it tolerable. After waiting 1 hour, I was seated at a very nice table, the atmosphere was ok for a "token" Mexican restaurant of the village but not for an authentic Mexican restaurant....in fact this was so far from authentic....I thought I was in Canada...The guac was not authentic, the rice, non-authentic...chili? ???? I had better flavor from a packaged chili mix picked up at a local supermarket. Save time and money...pass this one up.

In the past I have had good experiences with this restaurant. Over the past few years Ive tasted the quality and freshness slowly decline. As of today it was unedible I could not even finish my burrito it was over seasoned and tasted awful and made me feel like I would get sick eating it. The rice was old and clumpy the way leftovers get. The watery juices flowing out of the burrito were more like rotting vegetables turning to soup. I will never recommend or eat at this establishment ever again. Im furious I wasted my hard earned money on food that tasted like it came out of a compost pile!
