I went to this restaurant about a week ago, between peak lunchtime and dinner around 2 or 3 PM. It was, by all standards I have, a standard (if sub-par by a little) "Chinese" buffet. The selection was not particularly plentiful, only two islands of hot food, a salad bar, and desert foods. I did not have any of the desert foods or anything from the salad bar. The food itself was on the good side of mediocre: greasy, salty, plentiful, but nothing really stuck out as fantastic. The egg rolls were nice, and so was the lo mein, but the egg drop soup was greasier than it is at most places, and a few items were less than tasty. The dumplings were either not cooked well enough or overcooked, it was hard to tell. The most negative part of my experience though was the sauce right next to the dumplings. Im fairly familiar with Chinese food and know that the dumplings are supposed to be served with a kind of teriyaki broth to give them flavor, so when I grabbed some dumplings and a plate of lo mein I put the broth/glaze on the dumplings and sat down to eat. The taste on the broth was so overwhelmingly bitter and possibly rotten that I almost vomited. I do not waste food, but the broth had managed to touch most of my lo mein since I put the dumplings and broth on my plate first, and I had to send away the whole plate. I told the waitress, and she brought the host over, but when I told him and clarified that I wasnt trying to get my bill reduced, just trying to express concern over a definitely rancid sauce, he didnt do anything about it, just went back to the front. Also, I was charged a full soft-drink price for water, which was annoying. Other than that, the restaurant was okay on the whole, and the service was good.

The dessert bar is absoulty fabolous. Its a rather smaller selection but the options are tastt things i dont even know the name of. The overyall place is a little outdated feeling an the servers really will stand or sit next to you. I took my daughter an the one guy server just sat next to us an looked at us while he played on his cell phone. An when i say sit next to us. I. Dont mean at the next table. I mean his chair connected to our table. It was very uncomtable for me an my daughter. Another time i came in there to get to go food. An they over charged me. They kind choose to charge what they want when they want. They weigh your food out...an then actually charge you more than they said they would for the weight of food. But overall. I always leave full an satisfied wanting more. Soo good.

I wouldnt be surprised if this joint is under several health code violations. Weve gone there several times before we go to the movies next door. The first time wasnt too bad. Its your typical cheap chinese buffet, nothing special. Its a little run down, outdated but serves its purpose. The cliental isnt that great. One of the times we went, there we were seated across from a man with a urine bag hanging on his walker. That was enough to cure my appetite for sure. Then you have people who let there kids run around unattended touching all the food in the buffet. I dont care how hungry I am next time we go to the movies...Id rather starve than to go back to Gross Star Buffet...ugh.

Okay , the food is really good, & Ive been going for YEARS . Service is fast & friendly & the atmosphere is relaxing & soothing.the value is awesome, lunch time for 2 is usually $12.13, & for a family of four during dinner, is $21.50, which is awesome. Whatever you read from someone saying theres illegal immagrants is a lie. No one could possibly see the kitchen, so no one knows how it looks. The family that works for the restraunt most deff eats their own food, I saw them with my eyes.plus, its a buffet ,Im sure in ANY buffet food is fried,! &someone said hepatitis b? Get real . This is a great place with great food & great service.take it from someone whos been going there for YEARS.

Occasionally, I saw the kitchen room. It is very dirty and disgusting. I do not want to describe the detail. It make me sick. I heard from a Chinese who has work in this place very long time. All of food are fried, not washed. The boss and waiters never eat this food which are cooked by themselves. The food appearance is very nice. The reason is the put a lot of color matters inside. It is not good for health. Also, They hired illegal immigrations without health quality, So I am worried about my body and get infection such as Hepatitis B.

I saw someone get kicked out for wasting food. The owner was yelling alot and during this visit the waitress was terrible, barely saw her, and tried stealing $6 extra on the check. The owner was upset with her for it and apologized. She followed to the table as we left saying "Thank you!" repeatedly until she realized she wasnt getting a tip for trying to steal an extra tip! She then started ranting in Chinese (probably cursing us out). Terrible service

I dont understand the negative reviews. I go here often with Asian friends and we all like the food very much. Smaller selection than some other buffets, but we are happy with it. Service is good, and the staff is friendly. Good food, good service, friendly staff, fair prices. We like it. That says it all. (Only 4 stars because Id like to see egg foo yung as a choice more often.)

I was told by the owner if I dont tip I need not return. I have heard that the owner keeps all the tips and the waitresses will not see them. I choose not to return.
