Im not going to talk about best burgers, because best is inherently impossible to define. What makes a burger better than another? Can you say one distribution of cheese is better objectively than another? One cooking style? One bun type? You cant, and thats the reason there are a thousand places in New Yorks five boroughs that make their own version of the American standard. Meat ... cheese ... bun. After that, its personal preference and location that make all the difference. And thats why I say Two 8 Two makes my favorite burger in New York. Not the best -- thats impossible to determine. But my favorite? Thats an easy call. The Breakfast Burger at Two 8 Two is culinary genius layered in between two of the softest, most delicious buns youll ever sink your teeth into. When you ask for medium rare, its on the rare side instead of on the medium side. The egg on the breakfast burgers runs just enough to soak the bun, but never completely destroying it while the Two 8 Two sauce should basically be put on everything in the restaurant. There are other things that come with the burger -- there are fries, which are pretty good, and they have the good sense to stock Buffalo Trace bourbon as part of the regular assortment of liquors. Theres also beers and a nice patio thats an excellent spot to sit outdoors in the warmer weather. But really, just order a burger or two and call it a day. You cant beat it.

First off let me say rhis. The service sucked. The guy has three tables counting ours and he was having difficulties keeping up. Now, onto the burgers. If you want a burger then you have two xhouxes, this okay with or your local diner, Id choose the diner hands down. This is a lunch time restaurant for office workers where you can expect mediocre food that you can fill up on to get you through the day . This is not the place you should headti for a burger after work. I tried the jalapeño Margarita. Sugary!!! I dont know about you but jalapeño implies heat in the drink . Either by infusing the alcohol or slicing thin strips into the drink. Neither was done here, just sugary syrup the probably says jalapeño natural flavor syrup. I sent it back. The hamburger was a ball of meat, nothing added to the meat. No salt, no pepper, or anything else to entice you to come back. The bun looked suspiciously like McDonalds buns, As for thr onions, I suspect they were either canned or frozen prior to heating. The same goes for the fries, which tasted of fillers. For forty plus dollars I truly would have preferred eating at burger king. You probably will also.

IMO this is one of the coolest burger bars in the city. What I love about 282 is its not pretentious. They know they are a burger and beer bar. Their short but perfectly sweet selection of well thought out and selected burgers are simply delectable. And the simplistic yet deliciously basic choice of the traditional potato bun makes it light, enjoyable and SUPER affordable while compromising nothing when it come to flavor. Plus, whats better than having a Brooklyn Lager on tap in BROOKLYN! Oh did I mention its my 7 year olds favorite restaurant in the city? Do yourself, your family and your wallet a favor, come by two8two.

In the exploration of the Flatbush neighborhood which I need to do more. My friend and I wanted a nice burger for dinner. Two8Two seems to fit the bill. The restaurant was pretty full the night we went. The wood rustic interior lends to the burger eating but acoustically was a bit loud. We opted to sit outside in the nice garden and where it wasn’t as noisy. The burger was excellent and cooked as ordered – medium. The bun was toasted and a side of Ketchup. Both of us were satisfied campers with beer in hand. Friendly service, neighborhood restaurant that put out a solid hamburger. This is what I’m talking about.

Just got back from this place and I was kind of surprised at how busy they were at 10pm. The food options in this neighborhood after 10 are limited basically to the diner so its nice to see that theyre open til midnight. The burger was good. The meat is from Los Paisanos. It is always nice to see one local business supporting another, not to mention their meat is delicious. The decor is fine, nothing special and there are a lot of burger places in the neighborhood. I would say its on par with the rest of them. Definitely a good place to go if youre on Atlantic ave.

I had a fun time here with a group of friends and co-workers. I had a burger, with lots of extras -- avocado, crispy onions, etc. I dont remember it being amazing, but it was solid, and I enjoyed it. Same goes for the french fries. I liked the atmosphere -- it felt very convivial -- but then again, I was in good company. :) Not a huge deal, but I did notice that their ventilation system could use some improvements -- it got a bit smoky. Id definitely be happy to go back -- good for a casual weeknight dinner.

Really great burgers though they do not come with fries, lettuce, tomato or any of the usual fixings of a burger. Just a burger on a plate. Dont get me wrong, the burgers are good. The buns are ok. But I just dont get why a burger joint cant include the staples. Burgers are meant to be customized. Outside of this, the sides are good. The drink selection is quite good. I had a great sazarac there! Just know its your typical $10+ burger with no fries or otherwise. Want more? Youll pay more.

The curry shrimp and coconut rice was good. My friends jerk shrimp was to salty. Maybe there was a slip In the kitchen. The mac and cheese is decent. The sweet plantains are delicious. This place has a homey vibe. But it is very small. A narrow stair well leads to the 2nd floor which has 5 tables. Not a lot of room. But like I said, it is homey. Takes a long time to get entree. They will serve you sides early, like plantains and Mac n cheese because they are ready. Food is made to order.

Ive been to two8two a few times and havent ever been disappointed by the burgers that hit the spot after a few drinks or before a night on the town. Theyre always cooked perfectly (medium per my request) and the fries are outstanding, whether its sweet potato or standard. The actual seating setup is a bit snug and I wish it were more comfortable, but Ive yet to dine in the backyard which looks a bit more comfortable.

great burgers, and great service. if you can swing by early evening, sit at the bar and order something to eat -- the bartenders here provide great conversation and make a wicked cocktail. theyve also got some really great brews on tap. if youre coming in for table service and its busier, be prepared for some sub-par wait service. not their fault, but also not ideal.

Great place in downtown Brooklyn for big juicy burgers cooked to perfection. The chees was melting off the burger. I had mine with fresh onions and crispy hot fries. The sweet potato fries are really good. Add an icy cold beer and a few good friends or family members and you have the makings of a great evening or afternoon. Prices are very reasonable.
