My friends sister birthday request was for an Indian restaurant. Of course, my usual selection would probably be in the Curry Hill area on the East side but we were in Brooklyn. Prospect Heights to be exact and unfamiliar territory. We found Joy along the busy corridor of Flatbush Ave with lots of happy eaters inside so decided to give Joy a try. The casual restaurant but plain decor was an open room with tables and a small bar in the back. The restaurant was quite full and they politely asked two of the patrons if they would mind moving to a two top table for our group of six. The couple didnt have any issues and we graciously thank them. The menu had the usual selection of popular Indian selections and some that I havent seen before therefore it is an automatic must try. The table ordered some usual favorites and some new like Samosas to start and Chicken Tikka Masala, Gobi Bhajee, Saag Paneer and Shagoti with lamb. Samosas was crispy without being to oily. Plenty of flavor and a slight heat afterwards. The Tikka Masala was a bit sweeter than Im use to with a tangy tomato sauce. I always enjoy the Gobi(Cauliflower). I think the standout of the dishes was the Shagoti which the table agreed was very good. It had a slight heat, the lamb was tender and not gamey. The sauce was great not only for mopping but with the rice. The portions we thought was a bit on a smallish side but was still more than adequate for the table. I think if we were a bit hungrier wed need to add one additional dish. I think when in the area this certainly will satisfy anyone craving Indian cuisine without taking the 5 train to the city. Joy Indian left us happy and ready for some after dinner fun in the neighborhood.

Im constantly afraid I am going to overdose on this place. The food is so good, and it is so cheap. We order from here at least once a week, and go there every couple of weeks. Their chickpea potato and cauliflower is excellent, as is their chicken tikka marsala. The naan is fluffy, light, and chewy... just perfect. Plus, the service is superb. Even the delivery guy who comes is always super friendly. On top of it all, the restaurant is BYOB and there is a great bodega next store that has a huge selection of beers at good prices. Win all around.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I ordered food at 6:15pm and kept calling to find out where my food was. The guy kept telling me that my food was out for delivery and the guy was on his way. Finally when I called at 8:45pm, they told me that the delivery guy didnt know where my address was, so they cancelled my order. Didnt even bother to call me to let me know. Waited over two hours for this. What a waste of time. Never ordering from here again. They know nothing about customer service.

Fast Delivery Service, but flavors were lacking. Out of the 3 veggie dishes none excited my taste buds. Its ok if youre just hungry but not seeking taste bud pandemonium. The best part was the Peshawar nan. It was unique with conconut pieces inside. Other than that it was a basic/underwhelming meal. Probably wont order again seemed a tad expensive all things considered. ($24 with tip for one)

Ordered pickup. My garlic naan was not garlic naan, it was regular. The paneer pakoras are literally just soggy bits of deep-fried cheese, not good at all. I ordered the tikka masala "spicy" with a note that said "xtra spicy please!!" It wasnt remotely spicy. I pounded the entire thing and didnt even taste the HINT of spiciness. Oh, and they dont serve beer.

The service was OK, the flavor of the food isnt bad, we had chicken tandoori but after we almost finish it, I noticed the chicken was not cleaned, all the nasty guts and whats nots thats supposed to be cleaned out was still left in it, also the ice in the mango lassy,my drink hardly had while my boyfriends had a huge clumped up piece.

its been an hour and 20 minutes since they said my food should arrive and each time i call to check they say it should be here in 10-15 minutes. I ordered ginger ale, water, garlic naan and aloo nan. not sure why this is taking almost two hours but i dont appreciate the deception. At least be honest with the wait time.

Use to be my favorite place...not anymore. It took over an hour to receive my meal, which never got while other patrons came way after and received service and food. No compensation for my time or no direct apology from staff or management.

Food is always consistent and very very good!! The prices are affordable. Tastes differ, but the mango lassie is a must try and so is the coconut puree. Love the Channa saag and saag paneer. Many options for vegetarians.

Weve really enjoyed the food at this place, and we order delivery often. Of course, its better if you eat in, but the delivery is quick and reasonably priced...and most important of all...utterly yummy!

Inexpensive Indian restaurant. I did not expect the most authentic or sophisticated of dishes and I was not disappointed. If youre craving a curry and youre in Brooklyn then this one should do.
