Forgive the rant, but really bad experience dining here. Was in town for work and decided to take a quick breather and sit down for a meal. I walk in to an empty dining room and some waitresses talking by the front desk. I wait a while before I finally take it upon myself to ask for a table. Normally, no biggie. But the concept of one man sitting down for a bite to eat seems foreign to the staff as I am faced with uncomfortable looks and minimal, awkward conversation for the entirety of my dining experience. Wasnt the most welcoming, but I could live with it provided I could get something to eat. I order a signature dish, the birch beer glazed wings and about 15 minutes later am handed a platter of the tiniest, crispiest, most charred wings Ive ever laid eyes on. 6 for $10. And people say Cape May/Avalon/Stone Harbor is expensive. The wings were slathered in hot sauce with scarcely a similarity between the item I ordered on menu and what I received. I scarf them down and pray my bill comes soon. It doesnt, my waitress gets lost somewhere in the vacant abyss of the place, so I walk over to two of the unoccupied hostesses near the bar and inform them that Ive got the bill and Im ready and willing to pay. They assure me my waitress will be with me soon. I wait and the waitress brings back a bill with 10% tax. NJ sales tax this year is 6.875%. This was the one restaurant Ive eaten in Wildwood, let alone the entire county, that charges a tourism tax. There was no preemptive warning or signal that it would be applied, either. No indication of a tourism tax anywhere on their website or on their menu. It wasnt even the additional 2%, it was somehow rounded up to be 10%. This was enough insult to injury to ask my waitress if she knew what the states sales tax was. She looked like a deer in the headlights as she she replied she did not and scrambled off to grab her manager. The girl brings back a woman who seems equally as perturbed before even speaking to her as I have to ask my question again. She agrees something was awry and stepped off in the back. I am given a new $7 + tax bill for my wings and told that the order was screwed up and they gave me the hot wings instead (an item I never even saw on the menu). The tax is corrected, I pay the meal, tip, and leave. Im in no rush to return, but it wasnt a total nightmare.

We just stopped by on our way to the Convention Center. Didnt expect much. We were surprised by a packed house watching the Kentucky Derby. The very friendly hostess found us a seat and explained the menu. The race ended and the surprisingly good live music began. Many patrons (me included) sang along. The salads and wings were delicious. The wings were unique, a cross between barbeque and buffalo. The mango drink went down like juice. The steak, garlic fries and asparagus were all perfect. A perfectly prepared barbequed duck leg went really well with the aage waffle, nuts and maple syrup. I would like to have tried the rack of ribs the guy at the next table over was eating. Im getting that next time. Towards the end the owner came out to introduce himself and ask how everything was. My only criticism (and I can be very critical) is that they could definitely upgrade the coffee. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I am giving this restaurant one star because there is no "zero" available. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I have ever had at the Jersey Shore. The crabcakes, which were supposed to have all lumo crabmeat, contained 90% filler. This wasnt even a decent filler, the meal was awful. After taking 2 bites I informed the waiter of how bad they were, after all, he is the one who said they were delicious and had very little filler. He told me he was taking them off the bill and then came back and said he was taking half off the bill. It took two bites to see how disgusting the meal was, he then asked me how much I ate! The service was horrible also. 25 minutes after first taking our order, he finally appeared again. This place was awful, do not eat here, ever!

Had an unfortunate dining experience here that was peppered with aspects of good and bad. The good: $5 margaritas, crabcake sandwich, and the crab soup. The bad: scrutiny over PA Drivers Licenses of 3 almost 30-year olds (checked by 2 people and once using a black light), disappointing calamari appetizer, over cooked buffalo wings, disappointing menu lacking seafood options but including deviled eggs, and country music playing VERY loudly. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good. I would not recommend to anyone.

The staff was excellent. My 5 year old was having a day, and the hostess went above and beyond to make it a great experience. She even went and got him slices of pepperoni for his pizza. The waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and helpful. The menu is a little odd.. the chef doesnt substitute things for the sake of the dish. Everything is just, different there. But the food came out pretty good regardless. I recommend the pizza and chicken parm!

Friendly atmosphere, great prices and excellent food. This restaurant has become a welcome asset to the township. We have frequented the facility on a weekly basis and never were disappointed. By the way the chicken wings appetizer are the best. Location is interesting as one can observe the 47 street bridge opening for boat traffic.

The menu is brief but absolutely fantastic. We went with a group of 6 and everyone was thrilled with their dinner. Plus on Thursday they have bogo bottled beer! We were a little skeptical at first but oh so happy by the time we were through. Thanks again to the staff and staff at the Backfin!

Very disappointed with the menu changes. We loved the food last summer, but they have a new chef this year and we were very disappointed. Stuffed chicken parm very skimpy portion no salad or bread offered with dinner and the prices are high. Sandwich menu is small with no chicken options.

Good food, great atmosphere and most importantly a warm and inviting staff who go above and beyond to make sure you leave a happy customer! My family and I hope to see you all in the 2017 season! P.s. Chase is sorry about the dirty looks and thanks you for the Orange Juice! ! :)

A joke. Im sorry but there is no BBQ or anything on the menu that I would constitute the name "blues" to including the horrid music.I resorted to ordering crab deviled eggs to start...and never went further for fear of salmonella or other food born virus. Sorry but terrible.

Atmosphere was nice. Place was clean. Live musical was entertaining. Food was good, but not great for the price. We order the bad bing shrimp which was fresh but underseasoned. The smoked Gouda was ok. The pizzas were average. The orange crush drink was terrible.

Great food!!! The ribs, the wings, duck mac&cheese were awesome and the crab deviled eggs were different but delicious. The waitress Debbie was very attentive and patient and the owner Sam was very gracious. Will definitely come again
