There should be an opportunity to select "zero" stars, but alas, Im allowed but a minimum of one. At least the caption reads "Hated It," which is a fair characterization. Im surprised to read such pleasant review on Hawk Haven, particularly those that compliment the service. I have to suspect these were all written by people accustomed to dour, expressionless staff with no enthusiasm for their work and the personalities of a dithering vine after the fall harvest. From the moment we called to inquire about the Sunset Wine Tour, to the moment we got there, all the way through the tour and tasting we were met with people who had no passion for their work, or for interacting with the public. The "Sunset Wine Tour" turned out to be nothing more than a 50-yard trek to a vine, a few bullet points on grapes, four paltry tastings, and ten minutes of complaints about both the weather and the cost of machinery by the owner/winemaker. Perhaps his business cards should be reprinted as wHinemaker? Just a thought. The facilities were unimpressive - again, reviewers who commented on their "elegance" have clearly not spent much time at wineries. The "crushpad" was overrun with weeds and grass growing through cracks; the outdoor tent was modest at best, and even the tasting room lacked any semblance of charm. Skip Hawk Haven. There are plenty of other local options nearby that offer a similar quality wine, but a far more impressive, inviting experience - at a far more reasonable cost.

If youre trying to decide which Cape May County winery to visit, Hawk Haven is the answer. Their wines are generally more refined than much of the local competition. And the atmosphere at the vineyard is just right for whatever youre in the mood for: serious wine-tasting in their beautiful tasting room or casually enjoying your wine outside...with live music sometimes. Ahh... Thoughts of Sangria Sunday at Hawk Haven are what is getting me through this winter.

Very nice. I dont know much about wine but I do know good service and friendly people. Charming and clean. We took the tour, not sure of the name of our tour guide, think it was Rick. He explained everything, so even I could understand, from the vineyard to the actual wine making process. No one pressured us about buying anything, which we did. I would recommend this winery highly just on its employee factor.

From the moment I stepped into the charming tasting room I was hooked. The careful attention to quality details was impressive. A business that pays such attention to atmosphere must give the same attention to their wines. And do they ever! From the elegant Pinot Grigio to the chewy Merlot, each wines individual nuances are showcased. Highly recommended-dont miss this when you visit Cape May!

Anyone unaccustomed to hearing about New Jersey wine will be pleasantly surprised by Hawk Haven. The Pinot Grigio is refreshing on a warm summer day, and the Cabernet Sauvignon works well with an assortment of food dishes. The elegant tasting room and delicious snacks that accompany any tasting are worth the time of anyone in the area to experience.

I went down to Cape May to visit a friend and we stopped by Hawk Haven. It was a really nice visit. The wine was very good, and owners who were present during my visit were extremely hospitable. I also went back for Sangria Sunday when they had live music and it was a great place to enjoy some local wine and relax.

$8 for a tasting, but I heard the people next to us split the 8 wines between the two of them. We only drink white so they let us do two rounds of the whites instead. Their easy going attitude makes it easy to overlook the $8. Great covered patio out back with bands and food. Ill definitely be back.

Great service, great experience. Not all of the wines were to my liking but I definitely found enough to bring home a case! Tanya helped us through the tastings and gave us a few extra not on the tasting list to help us with our decisions. Just adorable, great choice for our end of vacation trip.

Horrible service. Waited 1/2 an hour to place an order for lunch and was completely ignored before we walked out. We were 1 of 4 tables. Its not like they didnt notice, they just didnt seem to care. They were steady with customers, but not overly busy.

This vineyard and its family history are so sweet. The new tasting room is beautiful and the many events they host (wine releases, sangria sundays, etc) are great fun and great company. Worth the stop and worth hanging around for a while.

$15 for 2, so-so, plastic cups of Sangria! Not really worth it! Wine is just, ok not worth that either! Better places around.

The wine is alright but $8 just to sample the wine is very excessive.
