Its difficult whether to rate this with 2 stars or 3. The best part was the entree itself and the location on Beach Avenue. The front of house staff which is either absent minded, apathetic, or simply not competent, distract from what could be a great experience, well, and could make the place MUCH busier than what we saw. We made a reservation, showed up on time, and yet the hostess, after a short verbal scuffle that she had with another employee, finally took the trouble to seat us, at a table that was directly in blazing sun, even though three other empty tables were available under the plentiful umbrellas. Coffee was lukewarm. So, the server poured partial cups of coffee, then walked away in silence, leaving us to figure out that among the items on the table, none of them were cream. So, the process of waiting to see if shed surface again began. Finally got the cream, but she didnt think to come with a coffee pot to enhance the partially filled cups. BUT, we ordered. Both ordered omelettes. They came out rather promptly, eggs were nicely cooked, potatoes were good and toast was dry, and cold. One of us ordered cream cheese, but for the other plate, no butter was provided and since the plates were delivered without anyone waiting for even a glance to see if anything else was needed, we had to keep looking for an opportunity to waive someone down because even in observing other diners, it seems that checking in with tables, especially after first delivering entrees, isnt done here. We heard a table behind us have to ask, and wait, for syrup for the waffles theyd ordered. It created a nice little moment between us all, but distracted significantly from being able to say that the experience was good, even though the kitchen did a nice job of preparing each order. So, it seems that the chef wants the place to succeed, but the uninspired service level of the staff are holding that effort back. But, you know, it was a nice place to sit.

We had our wedding here and I cant say enough good things about this venue!! From the beautiful accommodations, the scenery, the AMAZING food at SeaSalt Restaurant and the staff, I couldnt have asked for anything better!!!!! Literally nothing went wrong and everything was even more perfect than I could have ever imagined! Amy was seriously the easiest and most detail oriented person to work with! She was so personable and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect! All of the staff (servers and bartenders) working our event were wonderful, pleasant and so helpful! We did a family style tasting menu and I cant rave enough about how delicious Chef Lous food was!!!! I wish I could eat there everyday!!!! Several of our guests mentioned to us that the food we had at SeaSalt was the BEST wedding food theyve ever had and I cant agree more! We had salad, bruschetta, ribs (to die for!!!!), pasta primavera, crab cakes (even those of us that arent "seafood people" LOVED the crab cakes!), caramelized cauliflower (the best cauliflower Ive EVER had!), BBQ grilled chicken with sweet & sour slaw (so delicious!), hanger steak (made to perfection!), charred baby carrots and grilled asparagus. I couldnt pick just one favorite course if I had to, they were all so delicious and you could tell everything was made with great attention to detail. Chef Lou did not disappoint!!! The hotel was so cute and modern. Everything was very well maintained. The views were AMAZING! All of the staff that I had the pleasure of interacting with was very friendly. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had a balcony that overlooked the ocean - it was nice and private with walls on either side. The bed was very comfortable. You will not regret using Ocean Club Hotel and SeaSalt Restaurant for your event!!!!!

I can not even begin to put into words the amazingness (I know its not a word but its all I could think of) of this place. I never usually bother doing reviews but this place earned an excellent one. The beer and wine list was excellent. The food was to die for. Duck confit and watermelon salad as an appetizer. The dry aged rib eye (that I ordered rare) for dinner literally melted in my mouth and came with a great red wine reduction. When it comes time for dessert forget about everything and just go ahead and order the burnt honey ice cream. Dont think about it, just do it. It had to be the absolute best ice cream I have been ever had and I come from a place known for amazing ice cream. Your taste buds will swoon. And last but not in any way least, was the absolute spectacular service we received from the wait staff and the manager. They showed us a side of hospitality that most places have forgotten about. They were generally warm and welcoming. This place is an absolute must visit if you are in Cape May, NJ.

My friends and I went to Sea Salt for restaurant week this Tuesday...what a terrible experience. ..service was awful..not busy with as many workers as were customers, yet it took forever...ordered ahead all 3 courses at 7:30...at 9:30 was told that they ran out of our desert!. .also couldnt find our waitress halfway thru dinner..asked twice after another 10 minutes we were told she left!!only the bartender knew his job...he personally brought drinks from the bar to the table..he should have been our food server, maybe we would have been taken care if properly. ..disgraceful for such an establishment of this kind....f ood was acceptable, but not really worth even the 35 dollar special charge....better get their act together!!

Really enjoyed a nice dinner outside on the patio at Sea Salt. Vince was our waiter and was so attentive. The entire staff truly works together to ensure every party has a perfect dining experience. My husband and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and the restaurant made sure we had a lovely table outside. We enjoyed oysters, the duck confit, the smoked trout, scallops and squid ink linguini. For dinner, we finished with sorbet and ice cream. The food was exquisite and delicious. This was a wonderful dining experience. We echo previous reviewers when we endorse this wonderful dining spot. Its a gem with a waterfront view and great staff to ensure an excellent dining experience. Kudos!

Went for dinner last night for my husbands birthday, especially for the raw bar. The oysters were outstanding as well as the calamari topped with lemon confit. However, the scallops were a bit undercooked and my aged rib eye ordered medium rare/rare was overcooked. The ribeye was off bone and sliced. The red wine reduction was very bland. Our martinis were prepared perfectly. I told our waiter my steak was overcooked and did nothing for us but apologize. They could have at least offered the espresso ordered to be removed from the bill. Ambiance is very nice.

Just celebrated our 45th anniversary at Sea Salt with our family (7 adults & 4 children) and were extremely pleased with our tasting menu including a wine tasting as well. Hold tight to your chef, kitchen staff, and service personnel as they were all TOPS! Weve fine dined all over the world and we found your tastings creative and unusually delicious. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed! Your staff was plentiful, quick and attentive without being intrusive. We are all still talking about the wonderful experience we had at Sea Salt Restaurant.
