They named an Italian restaurant after a painter from Spain. THAT is the level of just not giving a flip that Ill be talking about here. Short Version: go somewhere else. This is an Italian-American restaurant, and in terms of food and flavor its not horrendous, but in no respect is it good either. This place is essentially on par with frozen Italian dinners. The decor looks like its trying to be more expensive than it actually is, and the blemishes that no one bothered to fix or even just repaint really bring this place down. In a way, those blemishes are representative of the entire restaurant: "Well Im not gonna buy a whole new gallon of paint so... meh good enough. No one will notice anyway." They were burning these blueberry pie candles when I went there... that really clashes with Italian food, so Im thinking that they were masking some other odor. Overall, not really worth your time. $15 for a salad with no meat or fish is outrageous, whoever listed this at $$ instead of $$$$ probably drives a Koenigsegg.

Was seated at a table in the back room where the noise level was exceedingly high and distracting. Acoustics should be worked on to bring it down at least to a low roar! Noise was deafening. Fried calamari appetizer was very good as was a fish dish entree and the service was pleasant. The reason for only 2 stars, in addition to the high decibel noise level, is a complete disregard for how authentic chicken cacciatore should be made. I can tell you, NOT with chicken cutlets, thats for sure. As an Italian, Chef Deluca should be ashamed of this dish. If I was in the mood for cutlets I would have ordered them, perhaps Francese or Marsala style. I could overlook adding sausage to the dish, but using DRIED OUT, TASTELESS CUTLETS instead of chicken pieces, with skin intact---NOPE---THAT IS A BIG FAIL IN MY BOOK. Extremely disappointing.

My wife and I just enjoyed another wonderful dining experience at Cafe Picasso with eight other family members. Michele and Lorenzo, two brothers from Calabria, have created a truly special place in downtown Somerville, which has become one of our favorite destinations for all kinds of cuisine. Michele immigrated from Calabria when he was 17, and Lorenzo followed four years later at the tender age of 13; together they moved among various restaurants learning the trade and waiting for their chance to launch a place of their own. Cafe Picasso offers generous, sumptuous dishes at reasonable prices in the kind of upbeat, personalized atmosphere that no one does better than Italians. And its BYO, so the wines up to you. This ones become a real family favorite.

I do not understand the good reviews for this restaurant. I think that people confuse large portions with good food, I would rather have a small amount of food that is edible. The dinner was so bad we could not eat it. We ordered 1 appetizer and 2 entrees for 2 people and the 2 entrees had a heavy unidentifiable shiny liquid on it which I believe they pass off for some kind of sauce. The actual tomato sauce tasted like stewed tomatoes. I could go on but why bother, suffice it to say it was the worst meal we have ever had at a restaurant. Save your money and go ANYWHERE else!

My friend and I had been there 2 weeks ago and ordered a delicious special. It was spinach ravioli with salmon and a mustard-type dressing. Today, it was not part of the specials, but our server, Antonio Garcia, arranged for the meal to happen. Again, we LOVED it. Thank you for graciously accomodating us and please note how wonderful our server was. Your staff is wonderful and your food the best!! We will return.

My parents and I have been going to Cafe Picasso for years now. My dad especially loves this place, and he is very picky when it comes to restaurants. The atmosphere is fantastic, its intimate and its a great place for special occasions and dates as well. Gotta say, its much better than Alfonsos, plus you get to bring your own wine!

Great regional Italian food. Bread, salad and main entrees very tasty and in good portion sizes. Charming Tuscany atmosphere. Prices reasonable. Service is exceptional but suffers when crowded, guess it takes time to make food consistency good. Again when crowded background din increases making conversations a tad difficult. BYOB.

The atmosphere is charming and warm; beautifully decorated. The food is wonderful. We love italian restaurants and have been to many. This was the best antipasto we have ever had. The other food was wonderful as well. It is now our favorite place to go and where we take guests.

The waiter was friendly, and the ambience was warm. The food portions are comically large, and includes garlic bread and salad. I dont understand the hate this place receives about their food. I thought it was pretty tasty, but maybe I dont have as much of a refined palate.

Exceptional restaurant. We were there to celebrate a graduation and we had excellent service. The food was delicious and the portions were robust. We have been there several times and it is always reliable, great deals available and the service is fantastic!

Prices are way out of line with the food. Entrees are large, but a couple people in our party felt it was salty. The jumbo shrimp in my dish were extremely tough to chew or even cut. The desserts sounded good, but we decided not to try them at $9 each.

I was there four years ago and enjoyed it. Went months ago and was disappointed. there was water leaking from the air conditioner vent onto our table so they turned the vent. Place was dirty and run down.and food was horrible as well.

Went for my birthday this year after coming with a large party twice. All I can say is that, its a good thing I had been here twice before because the service wasnt only horrible, but it was rude.

Terrible, except bread rolls, everything like at the really chip place where they slap everything together. Waiters are pretty good, but food... do not waste your time. Very noisy.

This place has some great sandwiches! All are named after painters and the ones I tried were all good. You order at the counter, but they have ample seating and bring the food out.

I wasnt pleased. Overpriced good, and a bland meal which we still ended up paying for. Server was unwavered by my disinterest and didnt seek to rectify or better my experience.

Food is always outstanding and plentiful. Pasta is homemade, sauces are delicious. Beware however of the specials since they do not publish the prices and they can be pricey.

Great ambiance and even better food. You know it is a good sign when you are hunting for the fresh pasta in the surrounding seafood. Fantastic!
