Let me start off by saying. Overpriced nyc prices with subpar food and service. Me and my fiancé decided to give this place a 2nd chance after the first time the salmon and swordfish dinner got us sick an hour later and left us in the bathroom all night after. Tonight we decided to sit outside. Drinks took about 15mins to be brought to us. We got scallops and I spent 30$ on the ribeye after the server said it was the best one I was ever gonna have. Ive been to American cut and much better steakhouses and this steak was absolutely cooked from frozen ,over cooked, tough and after I told the server it was horrible with not eating more than half of it. He took the plate back and didnt comp us 1$. The presentation on the scallop dish my fiancé got looked like the chef was competing for master chef in the first round. Very surprising. No good at all. Spent 105$ that night. Nobody cares our dinner was horrible. Will never ever go back in my life and warn everyone else that attempts to go here for dinner. Now I realize why everyone around me was getting 10$ pizzas and sliders at the "nyc upscale wanna be" restaurant in east brunswick nj. I will say this is the last time I ever waste my hard earned money here. Complete joke. Update: So the owner Athan calls me after my last bad experience and he apologized so much for my experience that he would pay for my entire meal (105$) because he was so concerned about me becoming a customer again. He spent a good 10 mins on the phone with me making sure I was 100% satisfied to return. And assures me the check will be there early next week. This was Saturday. 7 days later I send him an email with no response. So today almost 11 days later I send another email to him and he says after speaking further with his server he will only comp me for the 30$ ribeye steak meal. Really?? Obviously going back on your word in any business situation is pretty low. And you obviously dont care about my business nor me returning. His cheap actions do reflect on the service and food quality so Im not surprised. Everyone beware of this guy and the operation he tries to run. He can get away with this in east brunswick apparently. In nyc this would never be anything close to a successful place. Totally disgusted with his place and he owners actions. Never ever ever again!!!

We went here last night to celebrate my sons 27th Birthday...table for 9! . My meal was ok Crab crusted steak, potatoes very good. Of the 7 steaks ordered at the table, 0 were the cooked to the right temp. My daughter got the MaiMai...two tiny pieces and a little rice...very spicy and dry. I wanted to try one of their specialty drinks...got the Exit 9 (Looked good...tasted terrible)... I had a great time with my family but I will NEVER go back here. The prices are really high and the quality and portions do not reflect the prices. I dont mind paying a higher price for a great meal...but then I expect it to be superb. Normally, I would have spoken to the manager, but I did not want to spoil our celebration . Service was good. Food did not sit well with 3 of us.. spent most of the night and today in the bathroom YUCK... And, the tip was added to the bill....which I believe is now illegal in New Jersey. We left another $20 anyway because the service was not the issue. I never penalize the server if the food is the issue. Too bad...we live close by and this coulda been a go to spot...not planning on returning.

This felt like a cross between a seasons 52 and a sports bar to me, serving both traditional "bar" food as well as prime cut meats and fish. The interior felt inviting, having an open space bar area with TVs. Tables were located so you could choose a place with view of the TVs, or a more private area. It almost felt too nice to be considered a sports bar. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, and very attentive to our needs as we ate. The food was very good, though i did find minor issues with some of the items (steak was cooked slightly more than what was requested, oil for dipping bread had no seasoning, etc. Yet for each minor issue there was something that stood out that made up for it, excellent salmon, nicely flavored mashed potatoes, etc. The only reason I give this place a 4 stars instead of 5 is that the pricing was on the higher end for the food we ordered. I compared the dishes from Gusto to other places with a similar price range and found room for improvement. Overall i will come back, and see this as a good place to come for anything from watching sports or even a date night dinner.

I love Gustos. The owners are warm and friendly and do their best to make sure their customers have a good time. Their servers have always been friendly and the orders are always correct. The food is tasty although I would like to see menus updated more often. The drinks are good and overall is one of the best eateries in the area. I had a party a few years back in a blizzard and George, one of the owners actually opened and put a snowsuit on to shovel so my guests could park. I think thats customer service over and above! The atmosphere is also comfortable. The value is a little pricey, but not uncommon as other chains such as Bonefish or Carabbas. I guess if people have a problem with the prices, they can always go to Olive Garden or Red Lobster, maybe Ruby Tuesday. Gustos is a little more sophisticated So I expect the prices to reflect that. It also keeps out the riff Raff, thank God!

They messed up my order, then got frustrated when I asked them to take it back and bring out what I ordered. My party was almost finished their meals so I told them to cancel that order and bring the bill. The waiter got flippant and short. He reluctantly brought the bill over with no discount (but he did take off my meal). Before that, the manager came over and didnt offer an apology, but rather patronizingly reiterated the waiters point that the food was going to take time in an attempt to justify their incompetence and poor service. Oh, by the way, it was my 25th birthday, January 2013. I would never go back; if one could describe a restaurant as sophomoric, this would be a perfect example.

I went with a friend to try out the place. When we got there the restaurant was full so we decided to sit at the bar. The service was not great. The bartender didnt even know how the specials tasted when I asked for a recommendation. Also their were a few of their "regulars" sitting on the other end of the bar who just kept on staring either at me or the ladies next to me. I complained to the hostess nothing was done about it. So I uncomfortably ate my food as quick as I could and left immediately. Its disappointing to see a beautiful restaurant with a pretty good menu to be destroyed by terrible service. I will never go back there ever again.
