The Cloverleaf is one of Caldwells mainstays for many reasons but here are a few that I think that make it special: The beer selection is really good - the place easily has some of the best beer selections anywhere in the region. While theres not an overwhelming variety the beer that is stocked is really quite good. They have Chimay and Leffe draught, (famous Belgian beers) and many local choices from small craft breweries around the US. The second thing that the Cloverleaf does really well are burgers - its hard to truly get a good burger these days. The burgers are best between Sunday and Thursday... we suspect its the chef on duty those days that makes the difference. Try the Trattoria, the Blackjack and the Country Bourbon burgers medium or medium rare... theyre excellent. Lastly theres a rear outdoor dining patio thats comfortable to sit in on a nice summers night... probably the nicest outdoor seating for a couple of miles in this swath of suburbia. Overall worth a try at least once.

Used to be outstanding, but with its popularity in recent years theyve seem to become complacent. I used to recommend it to people new in town and theyd come back glowing, in the last year or so, not so much. Service time has been good considering how busy theyve become in the last few years. However, food has been so-so, burgers used to be outstanding, but are down to typical pub quality. The crab dip was a must have, now tastes ordinary, bread is hard and over-seasoned. Have been coming in about once a week with friends and family, wed usually leave with a growler or two. Last three visits the growlers have been half filled (which causes them to go flat quick). Been causing us to go try some of the new places popping up in Montclair, but it would be nice to see a Cloverleaf come-back, at least with the food and bar service. Atmosphere is still good and the staff pleasant.

What happened to the Cloverleaf? Dont get me wrong, its still a great destination for any beer lover like myself. The beer events and tap take-overs are craft focused and fun. That seems to be their main focus these days as the food has been on a steady decline. My family and I thought perhaps we were just timing it poorly with busy nights. But it seems every time we decide to give the Cloverleaf another shot, the kitchen misses. So much so that even my 6 year old son was disappointed by the macaroni and cheese (once his favorite thing on the menu). The menu has been cut in half and the entree portions appear to be following the same fate. We used to love the Cloverleaf. Going there was a good value and a treat. I hope this is just some growing pains that will work itself out. Cmon Cloverleaf! Be great again!

I went here for the first last week on St. Patricks Day on the recommendation of a co-worker who has eaten there lots of times before. I did have to wait almost an hour (which was to be expected - given the day I decided to go on LOL), but we were approached by a waitress who did get us some drinks while we were waiting so that helped. Once we were seated we ordered off of the St. Patricks day menu & I got the Irish Stew which was just the right amount & didnt make me feel too stuffed. My husband & mom got the corn beef & cabbage meal & their portions were big & my mom took some home. The only thing I was disappointed about was that they ran out of their Maple Bacon ice cream dessert, but that just gives me a reason to come back again!

We went today for Sunday lunch. They had a huge beer list and a buffet which was 19.99 for adults and 4.99 for kinds 10 and under. They didnt have chicken fingers and fries which is what my son would have liked so we got the 6.99 childrens menu instead. The buffet had a decent selection. Not huge but enough things to choose from. They had an omelette station as well as a waffle and pancake station (and roast beef). Servers were also pretty nice. I dont think they like me not finishing my omelette (I overhead someone say something) but I didnt like it so I didnt finish it. There was one server that came over to talk to my son and she was very sweet. My son was very happy with this. I would come here again.

The Cloverleaf is one of my favorite restaurants. Ive been coming here for years, the food is good and the beer selection plentiful. They have a loyalty card called the "Clover Club" where you earn gift cards based on how much you spend. Their MBA program is a great way to keep people coming back, its a list of 40 beers you drink (over as much time as you would like - it took me a couple of years) and you earn your name on a plaque in the restaurant, larger beer sizes on drafts and specials on MBA night. If you would like to keep going after your MBA they have their PHD program with a different list of beers.

We have been long-time customers but our last visit made me dread going back. There is a lot of turnover w/ the waitstaff. The server we had thought she was a real hot shot, very loud, sang Christmas carols outloud at the top of her lungs, yelled at other servers across the room;; the place was empty and she had to leave to sneak a smoke in the restroom whenever she could. She was defi itely full of attitude, forgot rolls and butter, forgot second round of drinks. So we "forgot" to leave 20 per cent gratuity. I spoke to the manager and he seemed concerned. But if we go back and she is there, we would leave.

Service is slow, and curt, save for Zach and a few others. Zach is probably one of the most enthusiastic. If you do have an issue and go to the manager, they do try and resolve it, but youll be getting dirty glances from the wait staff for the remainder of the evening. On a positive note, they do have great burgers and the Monterrey sticks are delicious. Weve used their catering services in the past and were very pleased with the food setup and staff they provided did a great job. That was probably my BEST experience with this establishment.

All the staff are great people, and make you feel at home. The beer selection is probably the best in Northern NJ. They have a nice little atrium for year round dining, and a cozy little outdoor space when the weather is good. It can be a little loud, and have a little bit of a wait around dinner time, but its always worth it. Theyre also always doing something special for return customers and holidays. A great little place, and somewhere youll easily be able to find the wife and I twice a week. Thank you guys for all your hospitality.

The Cloverleaf Tavern is a family run business, and a beer lovers dream. They have a huge selection of beers and run beer promotions regularly, such as tap takeovers, free merchandise giveaways, etc. They have a cool program for beer lovers. You can also get your MBA (Master of Beer Appreciation) and even your PHD. You can learn more on their website, their Facebook page, or just stop in. Their menu has a great selection of food. They do a Burger of the Month promo. My favorite is the CloverMonster. Enjoy!
