Yesterdays... a hidden GEM! I have been a regular at Yesterdays for the past two years. When I first moved to the area, I was having absolutely NO luck finding a descent restaurant.... well, PERIOD, in that area outside of Chateau Hathorne which is excellent, but lets face it... NOT an every-day place. The first time I went there was after I had probably the worst dining experience of my life at a similar restaurant just across the street from Yesterdays. After being treated like garbage by the wait staff, and some rude cavone who claimed to be the owner, I could barely down one bite of the slop they called "food" or the obviously watered-down beer. I reluctantly paid, under-tipped, and left, still hungry. I saw Yesterdays across the street and saw that it was busy. I didnt care. I was hungry. I went in, and after just a few minutes wait, I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman and his wife who were the owners. I was seated by an equally cheerful waitress and enjoyed a nice Sam Adams while munching on some VERY tasty baked clams. Im very picky about my seafood, and was a bit leary ordering clams at a pub, but I have been ordering them since! One of my favorites is the duck. They make duck various ways, but my favorite was with the cornbread stuffing and plum brandy reduction. I dont think you could get it better anywhere in the city! I ended my meal with a VERY generous slice of Baileys cheesecake, which Ive never even heard of until I went to Yesterdays. Im also very picky about my coffee... and yes, Yesterdays passes the coffee test with flying colors! The atmosphere is very cozy and warm. Nothing fancy, but neither is moms kitchen. But lets face it... thats where you always got the best food, and thats where youve always felt most at home! The staff always makes you feel welcome and the food is DEFINATELY notches above your run-of-the-mill pub fare. Other dishes I recommend are the Veal Piemone, the Baby Back Ribs (incredible sauce!) and one of my favorites - Shepherds Pie, made with REAL lamb! Every other restaurant in town seems like they could care less about their food and their customers, but Yesterdays is an oasis on that strip.

Yesterdays is the opposite of Eddies Roadhouse across the street. Whereas Eddies is a loud, craft beer bar with new American food, Yesterdays is a tamer but still loud, traditional bar with traditional American food. You will see the owner and/or his wife around, and there is a good chance they will seat you or ask how everything is even though this is not a new restaurant--and doesnt claim to be. The place can get busy at times but doesnt usually pack out (Applefest, Im looking at you). A late kitchen is one of the big reasons why Yesterdays is popular, along with an award winning burger that they hang their hat on. The service I find to be good for a bar, and as long as youre polite theyll be nice to you. First off, the beer menu is a little better than what it seems at a glance. While all the lame favorites are there--Budweiser, Miller Lite, etc.--you also have some decent American brews like Sierra Nevade Pale Ale, Dales Pale Ale, Yuengling, and 1 or 2 others. Not going to win any beer bar awards, but at least theres a bit of variety. I thought the old school part of the menu--with updated prices of course--is pretty cool, but then again Im a sucker for those things. To start I ordered a french onion soup, which was a worthy example with most of the right flavors being present; a little heavy on the cheese and light on the bread, but still very good. My friend enjoyed the salad he got greatly, remarking that it was much better than he expected. I also had to get the burger which was pretty damned good, athough I am not traveled enough in the Hudson Valley to declare it the best. The beef was clearly never frozen, and although they didnt have the blue cheese to make my blue cheese/onions combo work, the cheddar and mushrooms replacement worked just fine (I wish the mushrooms were fresher though). The chips AKA fries they came with were crisp and good, as were the clam strips that my friend got. All in all I just wanted to catch up with a friend and have a decent meal, and we did! Mission accomplished.

Looking for someplace special to celebrate my wifes birthday pointed us to Warwick on 05/21/17. Yesterdays was our 2nd choice because the other eatery actually turned us away because they ran out of food. The atmosphere is pleasant with vintage decorations and some nice glass-work throughout. The restaurant is small (about 10 tables) and quaint. I did notice a hole in the ceiling where they must have had a leak and did not bother to fix it (not over our table though). The waitress was pleasant and engaging, though I would have expected something special since I did tell her we were celebrating a birthday. Prices are a little high for my taste with the 6 of us eating for almost $200 (only 3 beers and soft drinks for the rest, no deserts, 1 appetizer). BUT, about 30 minutes after taking our orders, the waitress informed us that the cook made veal francese and not the ordered veal parmesan. Apparently, one of the menus was from the day before and they did not have veal parmesan today! Heres the kicker though - she brought the other 5 meals and we waited another 15-20 minutes for the correct meal to be prepared. This is not acceptable, and she should of asked if we wanted the rest of the meals served. Its not polite to eat in front of someone that has no food, or to be the person that watches while everyone else eats. My son and I risked our meals getting cold while we waited for a while. The food itself was OK - but not worthy of the prices in my opinion. With so many choices in Warwick, I do not expect to visit again any time soon.

My Favorite Place!! I live in Warwick and Yesterdays is hands down my favorite bar/restaurant. Ive been eating at this cozy establishment since I was a little girl. There is something so comforting in the friendly greeting I receive every time I enter my favorite pub. Now in my late twenties Yesterdays is my favorite place to catch up with friends. We enjoy one of their many choices of draft beers and a wide variety of appetizers. Yesterdays is the place to bring all your friends and family visiting from out of town. There is something on the menu for everybody. There is just so much to choose from their ever so popular burgers, fish and chips, Irish nachos to seafood and steak dinners youll never leave hungry. Save room because the International coffees and home made desserts are not something you want to pass up. Warwick has been a growing village and many restaurants have learned to call Main St. home since Yesterdays opened their doors over 25 years ago. Theres something special about a restaurant that is standing strong in such a fast growing village. Ive taken the opportunity to check out some of the neighboring establishments in my opinion each is lacking in at least one department. Yesterdays is the place to go. Ive referred many of my clients from work here and all have come back to thank me marking Yesterdays their new favorite place. Whether its your first time or you visit Yesterdays often they will always make you feel at home. Dont take my word for it experience it for yourself.
