I had heard that Black Sheep was the best place to get burgers in town, and after 2 visits, I heartily disagree. Let me say that their fries and dipping sauces are savory and delicious. I had sea salt and vinegar the first time and they were crisp, tangy and delicious. The second time I simply had the salt and pepper, and the breading was perfectly crisp and tasty. Their shakes are absolutely amazing. They have alcohol in them (non alcoholic available), they are served with a big shake straw, and they are thick & delicious. I had an Elvis which is PB, Banana, and Chocolate. The fries and shakes are why this place has 3 stars. Now the burgers... the first time I bit into my Bleus Brothers burger expecting a delicious and juicy burger: While the bleu cheese, avocado, and bacon were absolutely perfect and flavorful, the burger was dry, grey, and flavorless. I couldnt believe it myself, so I came back a second time and just ordered the "Ugly Cheeseburger" because... how can you mess up a cheeseburger? It was dry and rasteless again. The sauce and toppings were wonderful, but again, the burger was not juicy or tasty whatsoever. Let me mention that the buns generally hold the toppings because there is no juice, so if youre a clean freak scared of a little food on your fingers, then by all means go ahead. Everything about the fries and shakes are wonderful! But the burgers.. man... the burgers are so incredibly disappointing. They are dry, flavorless, well-done, unseasoned chunks of meat covered with fresh delicious ingredients and sauces. If you want a boozy shake, go here. If you want delicious fries, go here. But for advertising itself as a "burgers and shakes" place, the burgers just arent very good. 3/5 - amazing shakes, fantastic fries, but the burgers are a joke, especially for the price.

After all the hype, my wife and I braved the Friday night crowds and waited an hour and a half for a table. Atmosphere is pretty cool, well laid out with a nice bar upstairs. We sampled a couple craft beers and were overall pretty disappointed in the beer selection, although I must say we like fairly hoppy IPAs or double IPAs and Springfield isn’t the most IPA friendly town anyway. They seemed to carry the same old Springfield local brews just like everyone else and nothing really creative outside of the local brews. After getting our table, my wife and I ordered two different burgers, my wife ordered The Foodie and I ordered the Bleus Brothers. Nice size burgers. Good presentation. The meat was very good, fresh and great quality, but I have to say the buns were store-bought, almost Wendy’s like buns which really didn’t pair well with the burger. On top of that, after a few bites both my wife and I had to get a side order of sriracha just because the burgers were so bland…the sauces/ingredient pairings did nothing for us. Overall, very disappointing burgers. Instead of pricing these burgers at $9.95, I think these burgers should be more like $12.95-$15.95; spend a bit more money on actually having a bun that pairs well with their 100% steak burgers and then have a chef better prepare some sauces/ingredients that make these burgers unique.

I arrived at 6:15 and was told it would be a 1 hr 15 to and 1 hr 30 wait. I understood this, as I heard to expect to a long wait time for a table. I was told I could wait upstairs at their bar, my four friends met me soon after. At about 8:00 (1 hr 45 min wait) we checked with the hostess to see if we would soon be called. She said yes, probably another 20-30 minutes. After waiting for so long, we thought wed wait it out. At 8:15 (2 hour wait), I received a text saying our table was ready. We went downstairs, only to be told they texted the wrong person, and itd be another 10-20 minute wait. The assured us we were priority at this point. We kept waiting... At 8:45 (2 hr 30 minute wait), we checked in with the hostess again, only to be told that itd be another 20-30 minutes. At this point, we had waited 2 hours and 30 minutes! As we were walking out the door, we were stopped and told wed have a table within 10 minutes. It was too late though and we were too hungry to wait any longer. We left, highly frustrated and unsatisfied and went to Dublins downtown (always a great choice) and were seated, ordered, and served within 20 minutes. Im sorry to say this, but Black Sheep has lost the business of myself and four of my good friends, all of us who frequent local places like this downtown.

I ordered a burger, and told the server I was lactose intolerant, so no cheese or the creamy soup that came with the burger. She came back a minute later with the chef and he double checked to make sure I was fine with that given how the soup was a big part of that plate. I said I was and appreciated the chef checking in. Then I got the burger and took a bite. Best burger I have ever eaten in my life. By far. Sorry Dad. I cant recommend "The Godfather" enough, the Horrmann Meats Italian sausage mixed in with the burger gives such a bold flavor, and even without cheese or the soup I enjoyed every bit of it. I am tempted to get it dairy and all next time just to get the full experience, even if it would take me out of commission for a day or two. Thats worth a vacation day or two, right? Oh, the fries and shredded onion rings were excellent as well. If I ever decide to die young it may be from eating here every day.

Great food-great people! Its hard to find somewhere to eat that has amazing food, people, and prices. Black Sheep might seem pricey, but remember this: You get what you pay for. Definitely worth the money, my husband, daughter, and myself had lunch there today. We had the bleus brothers burger", the "ugly burger" , the "sea salt n-pepper fries, a chocolate milkshake, and our daughter had the "Mia" dog with the fresh lemonade- this place is a must. We will be finding reasons to come to Springfield more often just to eat there. We would love to see one of these in Jefferson City or Columbia since we frequent there as well. There was no wait when we arrived and our waitress was on point, super friendly and wonderful. We cant say enough great things about this place.

Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes is the place to be!!! No hormones, no antibiotics, gluten free buns! This place is chic, clean & you want to stay all day!!! The staff is fantastic and the food is even better! Way to go guys!! We were driving through on our way back to Austin Texas when we stumbled upon this gem. Even though we live 9 hours away, well definitely be back! You Definitely the get what you pay for! In fact, If this place was in Austin, the burgers would be $15 (not $10). The ambiance is perfect for a date, hanging with friends or dinner with the family. GO GET SOME & THANK ME LATER!!!!

When I first looked at the menu I thought the prices were pretty high for a burger. But after receiving my food I quickly realized that it wasnt just a burger. It was pretty much a work of art. The food is amazing and the staff if very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is that they didnt have a room to take a nap after I finished the Cowboy Carl. Probably my fault for finishing it but it was so good... I havent had a shake yet but my sister did and she said they are amazing as well. Dont forget to try their fries and the many different dipping options. Again... AMAZING! Cheers
