There are places on this earth where higher powers beyond our comprehension choose to work and do good in an inherently cold and evil universe. This building is one of such places. Students have grown and found wisdom in these walls and adults have come to enjoy life like children in the same fashion. This steel hull has seen more history than a single human could ever come to appreciate. This building remembers a time before space travel, before cell phones, and before the internet. This building has held civil rights rallies and has been the birthplace of many intellectual musings that bettered the world. This building has been ripped from its foundation only to be set down and made whole again, to continue to do its work without rest. This building has seen three generations of family work within its walls and continue to do so. Those who come to complain of this building know not what they speak of. The food and this establishment are the definition of Americana. All who enter here should be happy and joyous to have this place. Be loud and have fun, continue to relish in the beautiful history that surrounds you, but still tread lightly, because this is hallowed ground.

Ive been comming here since 1992, it was still on Broadway. Ive brought my kids here since my youngest was 1yr old. We love and adore the cozy, quite, family owned business here. The food is fabouless, made from scratch, and fresh Missouri raised beef. They serve everyone with water, I love that! Their menu items are offered at any time, there always open. Lots of homemade dress pies, shakes etc. They entertain all kinds of people and some famous ones to. They are 1 of the top 10 best dinners but to me they are #1. Some times there is a line out into the parking lot, but its definitely worth the wait! An average Plate full of food ranges from $4.50 to $8.00 on average. Their portions are always more than you can eat, their is real history here, you can fell it the moment you step inside. The wait Staff and cooks are quick and amazing and always come to check if you like the food, if you need a refill and if your not sure what you want on their extensive menu, just ask your server, they are sure to recommend something delious. I looooooove this place!

Its always amazing to me that just because a place looks old school, it automatically means the food is good, aka this diner. So heres the scoop..... we stumbled on this place by accident and decided to give it a try. We had breakfast, the food was a C+ although my scrambled eggs, chili and sausage gravy concoction was the best part of the meal. My husbands omelet was under cooked, watery and pretty bland. I didnt get any toast with my meal which was odd, but whatever. One star lost for dry, unfriendly, sour older waitress that took our order and served it on Saturday morning 8.5.17. I will never understand how a place that specializes in breakfast employees someone who is so unsuited for a morning, customer service job. My small coke was $2.25 which is a total rip. It came out of a machine and the server never asked if I wanted a refill, so why the high price? There is only one toilet and God help you if you get seated near it and someone decides to make a major drop.

I went to the Broadway Diner this morning to try their cheese burger. Yep I ate a burger for breakfast. They say they have the best burger in Columbia. Well I cant agree with them on that one but I will say it is one of the best. The beef is not one of those frozen patties. It looks and tastes like good quality meat. Tasty and juicy, I really liked the burger. The fries on the other hand were not cooked the way I like them. Some people wouldnt have a problem with the fries I had today but for me they were under cooked. The fries were done but I like my fires crispy(er) and slightly browner, just my preference. The coffee was ok but I would not go back to the diner for their coffee. On the other hand I will be returning for another cheese burger, without the fries or coffee. Oh, the service was prompt, courteous and with a smile.

Today was the last time I will walk out of Broadway Diner. Until today I would come in for lunch. I enjoy the food. Its simple cheap and convenient. However, the service is terrible. I wasted a portion of my already short lunch break yet again because the staff doesnt have it together. It is unacceptable to have two wait staff and only one can take an order. This is especially frustrating when the cook is just standing there with nothing on the grill and the other staff member is making milk shakes. Of the two ladies, the older of two needs a vacation. She never has a decent attitude and its not my fault. Never going back!

This place is absolutely amazing! As i walked past it everyday to work, it intrigued me & looked like one of my favorite hometown diners back in PA & after weeks of curiosity i finally walked in while i was on break & instantly fell in love. Everyone there is so very helpful & kind as real diner employees should be & takes you back in time with all of its wonderful homemade foods, vintage appliances, decorations, & the building itself makes you feel as if youve traveled back to the fifties. Great down home cooking with an awesome twist on some already incredible dishes!

The pickings are slim indeed if youd like to have breakfast in downtown Columbia. You can go to Ernies Cafe and Steakhouse and have a server named Sandy overcharge you by 3 bucks on a semi-regular basis or you can go to the Broadway Diner and watch your food sit in the window as your waitress chitchats with her colleagues. (Like Sandy, this particular waitress was also a tall blonde.) When I finally got my food the toast was burnt to the point of being blackened and it didnt have any butter on it. Other than that, everything was great.

Conveniently located near Mizzou campus, specifically on the side of Greek Town, Broadway Diner is an enduring institution and a favorite among students and alumni. The food is affordable, but the value is relatively high. Its busy at peak hours, but nice and quiet in the wee hours when students need to study for that early morning final, or to work off the weekend bender. Or the weekday bender. The diner doesnt judge. Also good for families; they keep a box of toys for impatient kids to play with.

ordered a choc chip pancake and the chips where not spread throughout, they were on the bottom and completely hard. banana pancake was used with old bananas and tasted like it. waitress said she would charge a certain price for ordering two separate pancakes but charged more and when confronted stuck to the higher price. even the eggs and hashbrown meal was not up to par. would go to other places for breakfast.

Ive been here twice. The food is interesting, but nothing to rave about. I got the plucky duck and the chicken wasnt cooked all the way through and then the Stretch. Maybe you need to be drunk to enjoy it. Ive tried two different pies and neither were good, chocolate and the Elvis. Dont come here if youre claustrophobic, its very small. I like that its 24 hours and the waitresses are typically nice.
