So my wife and I LOVE drive-ins like this, much like the ones found in our small home towns. Unfortunately this didnt hold a candle. I cant speak for the Italian food. But if you cant cook a basic cheeseburger properly then I cant imagine that anything else will be good. Id say dont bother. First I went up to the counter to order and the window was down. I stood there for nearly 10 minutes and I finally had to knock on the glass to get some help. I ordered 2 cheeseburgers (1/3lbers) and a large french fry= $13. The burgers were SO overcooked and dry. There was meat, cheese and pickle- $4.30 each. The french fries were old, chewy and small. I could put all of the french fries in one hand and it was $3.60. 2 people who ordered AFTER me got food BEFORE me. I ordered 2 burgers and a french fry. How long could that take? It seems that a lot of people like the place so Ill give it another try...but I WONT be ordering a burger again. Some people below have mentioned that they worked there or they know the owner and that they would never sacrifice quality. The owner must be on vacation or something.

We drove an hour and a half after seeing them on diners dives and drive-ins. The building looked nothing like on TV or on the web. I guess I shouldnt of had high hopes coming from Pennsylvania (Italian food everywhere) and being Italian. I got the meatball sandwich sauce was good and meatball was OK not great. I am not sure if theyre homemade or premade and frozen they are definitely not made fresh the same day. Chickies in S. Philadelphia Was Way better hundred percent authentic homemade meatballs. Then came dessert we decided to get a banana split. Well it was not A banana split just three so called scoops of soft serve vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce and chocolate syrup on it. SUCKED!!! Anyway we will not be driving back to waste our time or money. Its a DIVE AND DRIVE IN. Disappointed. Being new to Minnesota I was hoping this would be a great place for some Italian. I will keep searching.

Customer service is horrible. I ordered two kids meals with chicken strips for $7.50 each. They only came with two chicken strips and a very small amount of fries. I asked for ranch for dipping sauce with the chicken strips and they said that it would be $0.35 each for ranch. I told them I only had a credit card and they were happy to run my card for $0.75 instead of giving what every other restaurant gives for free with a chicken strips kids meal. Both of my kids are still hungry since the kids meals were such small portions. I ordered a meatball sandwich for myself and the bread was just plain, low quality, white bread. The meatballs fell out while trying to eat it because the bread was so flimsy. I want to like this place, but I will never be coming back.

Love Dari-ette, this little Mom & Pop drive-in is much more than burgers, fries and shakes, this place serves up some of the best Italian food in the area, funny thing is, when I was a kid growing up in the area I used to see it when my Dad drove us through the area, but my parents didnt have a lot of money and we never ate out growing up, Years later and after living around the country, I end back up in MN but live 30 miles away from the Dari-ette.. after seeing it on an episode of Diners, Drive-inns and Dives, my wife and me when and checked it out.. Sorry I waited until after I was 50yrs old.. But since they are only a season place, we try and get there once a summer. I think once you try it.. youll be a fan of the Dari-ette also!

My suggestions for anyone, from top to bottom, are: jalapeno poppers, spaghetti, and pizza burgers. The jalapeno poppers are slightly spicy and freshly fried; the cheese melts in your mouth which it makes it tastes really delicious. As for the spaghetti, it is always freshly cooked and made from starch, and the sauce is made with a special secret recipe, so it tastes extra good along with the huge, tasty meatball. Pizza Burgers are for cheese lovers like me. =) Warning: -Burgers, not pizza burgers, may taste plain and a bit below average

The Dariette is an awesome drive in. I only live a couple of blocks away and visit there often with my family. I have enjoyed everything I ordered there. I especially enjoyed their ice cream and other desserts. It can be a little busy but the food is always out quick and usually theres not a long wait. They do have a parking lot and I have always seen available spots when Im there. You can also order ahead and pick it up at the store. And yes, this was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Theres pictures of Guy and the crew inside.

Went there yesterday for the first time because I seen it off the TV show driners drive ins and dives. Was semi confused when I ordered since Ive never been there before the girl who took our order was nice but the girl that brought out my food had bad customer service/ rude, I didnt know the spaghetti didnt get a meatball so i wanted to order one when she brought the food out. Meatball came out within 2 minutes and was not good. The ones I get from the store taste better.. Kinda dissapointed because I love pasta

Looking for some place "different" for supper today, we remembered how the Dariette will be closing soon, so decided to head over for some of their delicious Pasta eFagioli. They did NOT disappoint! Being of Italian heritage, we know good Pasta eFagioli when we eat it and this soup is molto buono! We also had the meatball sandwich (delicious and HUGE), spaghetti on the side (great sauce), and a REALLY thick strawberry shake. Pleasant and courteous help and great food.......youll be missed next season!

Im a huge fan of shrimp, so I got their shrimp dinner. Unfortunately, the breading masked any flavor that would have differentiated it from any other breaded meal. The fries were good, but for some reason they did not come with ketchup. All of the dinners come with coleslaw, which isnt my favorite thing. However, I knew it was coming so I have no one to blame but myself. Im over the novelty of drive ins by now: sitting in a building is much more comfortable than sitting in a car.

Ive been going to this place for over 60 years! Very fun nostalgic drive-in with fantastic Italian-American food. I often drive all of the way from to house in Burnsville to get their great Italian food or fantastic fried chicken. Also, a great choice of ice cream treats. Many people stop in after Dinner for an ice cream treat. During the Summer, there are often classic cars parked in the lot. Just a fun place to visit!

Ive passed the Dariette many times but last night ---Oct. 24th, 2014---was the first time I stopped---I ordered spaghetti with a meatball and it was the best Ive ever had. I am OLD, have had spaghetti at more places than I can remember---and I stand by my assertion that this was superior! So was the service from a wonderful young woman who even served my dog a Milk Bone on a napkin!
