If you go just for the red beans and rice, youll get the most authentic-tasting red beans outside New Orleans youll find anywhere. Thats because this is a New Orleans based franchise. DELICIOUS! 5 stars for the beans!BUT, when I ask for no rice because of its high starch content, that much is deducted from the "large" container, which isnt enough to fill me up even with the rice. I dont have an especially big appetite, but I always order 2. That makes it a bit pricey, and cutting the serving seems pretty stingy and shortsighted for a business competing for my money with numerous other fast food joints nearby. I have on a couple of occasions even when I was ordering it with rice gotten home to find my containers just 2/3 full. There are always more cars next door at Miss Goldies lined up for that ladys barely edible food. At least she fills you up. At any Popeyes I usually get coleslaw as a side, but at this Popeyes it is a sweeter than I like it. Since I live in Vicksburg I can take it home and add vinegar or lemon juice to tone down the sweetness, but its bound to be loaded with sugar calories--poison for diabetics, and not great for any of us watching our weight--and sugary for no apparent reason except that someone at this particular Popeyes likes it sweet. Maybe Vicksburgers like it that way. Dunno. Its easy to add sugar, but you cant remove it. I think of cabbage as healthy. Most Popeyes Ive visited do serve it that way, but that isnt the way its served here. Ive tried the fried chicken a time or two and its very tasty and moist without being greasy. Maybe too much breading to be healthy, but if youre going for fried anything, youre not going for healthy. I once paid extra for all white meat, but got dark meat anyway. I once had to wait too long a time when the server disappeared with my credit card. It was worrisome, but nothing ever came of it. They seem to have speeded up the process and my card has remained in my line of sight in recent times. The biscuits as I recall were good, but cold by the time I got them home. Ive rarely ordered anything else there, and dont feel I remember well enough to comment, only to say it was good, never bad. I really only go when I need a red beans fix. They tend to run out of different items before closing time. I guess thats to be expected from any place that works on a narrow margin as fast food places do. Ive given this Popeyes 3 stars instead of 5 because they tend to fall short in unexpected ways, like no sausage on the side, like the po boy bread isnt really po boy bread, while the Gumbo Pot a couple of blocks away behind Walgreens usually manages to serve it. Opening your bag and finding no napkins is another recurring disappointment, even after youve asked for extra napkins. When they close early, no one tells you. You wait to order and when you finally get tired and drive up to the window and honk because youre still being ignored, thats when someone tells you they ran out of food so they closed. A reusable CLOSED sign at the ordering station seems the bare minimum as a courtesy to would-be customers. Go for the excellent red beans and order 2 "large", unless your appetite is notably dainty, and order enough of the fried chicken to make a side dish. The chicken is very good. Buster Holmes in New Orleans, before Katrina, used to pack em in serving red beans and rice with a couple of pieces of fried chicken instead of sausage. Youd see people in business attire sitting next to hard hats next to a lady with three kids, black and white side by side at the very long counter. You can approximate a 5 Star Buster Holmes meal at Popeyes when Popeyes gets it right. Youll pay for 2 or 3 entrees per adult to do it, great for the occasional splurge, but not for most folks everyday budget.

Who ever manages this Popeys location needs serious help. We stopped here 3/17/16 at 8:35 this evening. Employees were running in and out the back door visiting friends parked in their parking lot. Meanwhile, the few that were working inside were not capable of taking our order. We had to give the order 4 times, then we finally gave up and pulled up to the window to give our order for the 5th time. When we received our order, we had more food than we asked for and were grossly under charged. We gave the extra food back, however did not question the bill. It took us 20 minutes to get in and out of this fast food location, dealt with untrained staff, and were frustrated in having to repeat the order 5 times. I think their inability to charge me correctly is just compensation for the enormous frustration caused. Worse Popeys ever.!!

The worst Popeyes my family & I ever ate at. They screwed up the entire order on Christmas Eve, were very rude to us & the chicken never tasted like any Popeyes restaurant we have ever eaten before!

Horrible experience. Awful service. Employees smoking pot in the bathroom. The clerk took our credit card out of eyesight. Awful.

I needed a large order of chicken strips. The staff was friendly and efficient. They even offered me a drink while I waited.

Good chicken. You have to check your order before you leave to make sure that they didnt just given you random chicken.

Great chicken, but this place really excels at developing young cornerback talent like the hero of Super Bowl 49.

Lunch Drive-thru. Chicken tenders are tender, tasty, and not too hot. Trust them; they know what theyre doing.

Food is always good here and the service is fast. The one negative is that the prices are high.
