USCH!!

Its a pub. Never been to one before, but its exactly what I imagined it would be.... loud, full of energy, people cheering, woodsy look and that feeling that you should be signing along with strangers. Here on business, but it was an experience. Food....not much to choose from, but whats there is priced right and well worth its price. Not a family dining place unless your kids are 6 foot tall Vikings, which in Minnesota, they probably are!! , but then again its a pub. I ordered The Liffey Burger which was a great piece of meat with cheese, tomato, and lettuce. It was soft, juicy. I ordered to go and should have asked for mayo. The apple dessert was good, but not great. It came with instructions to microwave for 45 seconds, which probably means, they microwave it for you if dining in the pub. Service was good for a pub. Didnt expect to be greeted or seated. I pretty much had to find a seat and wait for someone in uniform to come up or wave her down. Once she was there, she was great and attentive. The soda was in glassware which I was allowed to take up to my room. I would eat here again if I drank, watched a game, or had no choice.......remember its a pub.

The restaurant was about 1/4-1/2 full on a Friday for lunch. There was a dental convention going on across the street. I would assume a business that operates ACROSS the street from Xcel Energy Center would be knowledgeable of the events happening so they can be prepared for higher volume days. It took us 30 min to get our drinks & waiter came by once to grab our order. The food took over 30+ minutes, which in reality would have been fine if we had been told and our waiter kept our drinks filled. We ordered 4 salads and 1 turkey burger. There was NO dressing on any of our salads and when we realized it we had to wait 5 min for waiter to come back to ask for sides of dressing. Then we waited 10+ min for dressing, we had our salads finished by the time they "forgot" to send out dressing. The "manager" was the one to bring our one and ONLY drinks and serve us out food 50 min later after we arrived!!!! Terrible service, good was "blah"/ "tasteless" ( of course, why wouldnt it be without DRESSING!) And worst part was, for a salad and 1 beer our totals were over $19. Would never recommend this restaurant and will NEVER return.

I have been an consistent costumer since the Liffey opened and never once have I had anything to complain about until today. Not only was the service exceeding poor (I had to wait 10 minutes until the waitress noticed that I was indeed sitting waiting to be served) but also met the manager, which Im sorry to say is unbelievable and should not be in the position she is. I ordered chicken wings and they came prepared with feathers, quills and little threads of cotton. Being thoroughly disgusted I couldnt eat them and asked politely for something else. The waitress was relatively nice and went down to place our 2nd order. Soon the manager arrived but in a rude and completely uncalled for air. She not only asked me what happened to the chicken feathers (to which I answered, do think I would keep them?) but charged for the round that she offered to get and then conveniently forgot the parking pass stamp for the lot next door. I am sad to say that I love the Liffey but will never return per the terrible management.

I had already decided never to eat at the Liffey again after my last experience with the food but family asked us to meet them there... I had the Liffey Burger which was cooked as I asked but bland with a soggy bun. Minimal cheese was melted off the patty. "Fully garnished" at the Liffey means two dried out rings of onion, limp lettuce and a slice of tomato. There was ketchup at the table. $11.25 for this? My girlfriend got the special. Corned beef w/garlic mashed potatoes, carrots and cabbage. The potatoes didnt have any garlic flavor and the beef was too salty. There was actually a crunch to the beef which turned out to be salt crystals. The Smithwicks beer was $6.50! I wouldnt eat at the Liffey again even if someone else is paying.

Ordered the fish and chips. The fish was outstanding. Ultra crispy on the outside and white and Flaky on the inside. Seasoned to perfection. The fries, which I requested extra crispy, were good but not great. They were good enough for me to order an extra side of. The fries were fresh but they were just not as crispy as I like them. The crowd was fantastic. It was a pre-concert crowd, so everybody was in a great mood. But minnesotans tend to be ultra friendly and very talkative. The ones eating here lived up to that expectation. The main reason for 4 out of 5 stars was the slow service. The restaurant was busy, but the service was extremely slow. But I would definitely eat here again.

The food was not only amazing, but the service is very friendly and attentive--you know, when they can read your mind and deliver that refill drink at the exact moment you realize you could use a refill. The colors are rich dark wood. The drink called the Ginger, a nice blend of whiskey and ginger ale that actually goes really well together is only topped by the bread pudding, which is an exotic vacations for your mouth. I swear I died and went to Ireland. The corned beef melts in your mouth. This is an amazing experience we frequent.

The new menu is very disappointing. They seem to be taking the Irish out of the Liffey. Gnocci on a pub menu? Italian food isnt exactly why you go to the Liffey. The new menu is very small with little variety. Also, the priceles$ steak makes no sense. I hope they revert back to more Irish fare soon. This used to be one of our favorite places but not with this menu. The new indoor decor isnt much to brag about either. Lost all its pub charm and now looks more like a run of the mill chain place.

Went for convenience since we were staying at holiday inn. Kids eat free is a nice benefit. We ordered fish and chips and a ceaser salad. The fish was fantastic, I dont know if I missed the print that stated the chips were actually French fries though, little different. The salad was bland at best, small and expensive. Definitely only a place you would drink. If you want to get drunk go there, not a family restaurant.

Just visited for Lunch on a Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant was pretty dead, but the wait staff was eager and energetic, and the shepherds pie was FAB! (Im pretty fussy about this, and the recipe is very genuine) Maybe not a big lunch destination?
