Ashley Jenkins 06/10/2016 12:15pm Lucy Cafe Today I was verbally assaulted by a store own named Julie. She owns Lucy Café. I was not aware that you can’t sit on her outdoor seating area. (When I sat down the sign was flip upside down.) I believe I was sitting there for less than five minutes. When Julie came outside and says “you need to leave” I then began to grab my bag. Before I stood up i said “Not to be rude but did you come all the way out here for me” she then said “Yes I did I need you to leave now because I have a big group coming to use this area.” I started to walk away and said “I didn’t mean to be rude” she said “well you are. You’re a rude little B****” that’s when I turned around and said “excuse me “she then said “You heard me little girl. You high school kids come down here and think you can do what you want. Shoo go now” I said “I’m a grown woman.” I walked indoors as I was walking up the stairs, I overheard her saying some racist comments. I do not want to give life to those comments so I won’t put them in print. I walked back into the shop and told her I heard everything she said. She said she was calling security. As I was leaving I apologized to her saying “I apologize if I came off rude that was not my intention.” I’m writing this report because I am deeply disturbed about the scene that took place today. I do hope action is taken. I don’t believe anyone should get away with treating anybody like this. This really got to me. Her actions will be with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for taking the time to look into this situation.

Came here one morning while waiting for a client to finish up an appointment. Was served by a very friendly woman, who seems to be the owner? I had the apple fritter French toast and it was absolutely delicious. My latte was a bit too sweet (I asked for it this way, my fault!) so I asked if I could have an extra shot of espresso and she put it in a bigger cup with extra espresso and milk. This place was so cute and has a retro feel. If Im ever in the area Ill definitely stop and get some more coffee and food! Would love to try their hot sandwiches :) the only thing I would recommend is getting better quality maple syrup. Its just regular store bought syrup and I prefer the homemade type. Just my preference though!! Thanks for letting me waste an hour in your coffee shop!

Julie has created a very warm and playful environment in a building not traditionally associated with either of those adjectives. The food is homemade and served with fresh and healthy sides. My favorite meal s the grilled Reuben Pannini. Julie is also known for her homemade soups and of course a great variety of homemade coffees; teas and chais. Super friendly, very accommodating. A++

I work across the street from Lucys and was curious about it, I looked up reviews, read two and walked on over. The grilled Rueben Panini is OUT OF THIS WORLD! I am so picky about corned beef, Lucys is well worth the risk of crossing Univ. Ave & the lightrail tracks! Cant wait to go back!

I have only been there a couple times, but whenever I deliver something to the office upstairs I always make sure I stop. Very friendly and a fun place to be as far as the décor. Puts you in a good mood.

Small, local-business, hotspot! I go out of my way to come here. The owner is friendly, the atmosphere is cheery, the food is superb, and they treat you like a Queen. Ill keep coming back.
