Where did these photos come from? My wife and I love Ingredients. We dine there for dinner nearly once a week. Rebecca, part owner part artist, part bartender and host make all our visits remarkable. The food is outstanding and its value (price to quality and taste) is exceptional. We also dine at LOLOs in Stillwater and the Tria Restaurant in White Bear Township. All three restaurants are wonderful, and Ingredients remains our favorite. I have some dietary needs and Ingredients is always happy to swap the mashed potatoes from one dish for the squash or Parmesan spinach from another. Sometimes we just stop in for a drink and have the crab cakes (yum - best around) or a salad. You can even get a chicken breast or a nice serving of grilled shrimp with your salad for a couple extra dollars --another great value. Oh, and the baguettes. We love them. My wife and I, Jane and Mike are real customers, who keep coming back again and again. There are a lot of places that we no longer frequent, like club Tara in Stillwater because they have changed over time. Ingredients is changing on the upswing for us. Rebecca started bringing in fresh vegetables from her own garden. Wow, can you tell? We love Ingredients. Give it a try and tell Rebecca the "Gimlet People" recommended it.

Some of the photos on google are not of Ingredients in White Bear Lake. This restaurant is a cafe within a generic shopping strip, not a fancy cafe in urban Paris as some stock photos suggest. Menu is overpriced for quality of the food/ recipes. It does not compare to other restaurants nearby with the same, high pricing. Its just not exceptional in any way, and sometimes not even good. Then add the fact that its just a normal looking cafe inside, and there is no reason for the high prices. The grill is often too hot-- food gets burned, and the flavors are just not there. Dinner is sometimes accompanied by live music, and that generally brings a loud atmosphere as people try to talk over the music. I think this is a great spot for a few drinks, and maybe an appetizer. I wouldnt plan on a culinary experience, or a romantic night out. Kids meals are priced too high as well, for what they are. Sorry-- wish I could say it is better. Ive given them many chances, and been disappointed many times.

Dont go for the food...its barely average. Its a trendy place to go have wine and talk about artsy crap. Sadly, when I go out to eat...its for the food and only the food. I had the "hanger steak" which was a pretty bad cut of meat. Granted, Im a steak snob...but Im being kind calling it average. Cons: Snobby atmosphere, usually a wait. Pros: Lots to drink. Summary: Food that is "overpresented" is usually bad. Just give me something simple on a plate without drizzling it with some kind of sauce and throwing lawn clippings all over it.

What a great place. Caprese salad was our appetizer and it was delicious. The heirloom tomatoes were grown by the staff and friends of the staff. The menu is unpretentious and simple. The pork tenderloin was the best Ive ever had. It came accompanied with garlic whipped potatoes, asparagus, an unbelievable sauce and the most amazing sauteed wild mushrooms. You can tell they know what theyre doing because Rebecca knew almost everyone who came in by name. Will definitely return to White Bear Lake for this gem.

They start you off with homemade bread and olive oil. They have a wide assortment of wines. Of coarse I had to try the burger. Fresh ground beef, hand pattied, half pound, cooked medium. I added bacon $0.50, cheddar cheese $0.75, mayo, and lettuce. The burger was really good. I also added fresh cut french fries for $2.00 extra. They par cook them first then deep fry them so they are super crispy and good. I will be going back to try other items on the menu. A must to check out.

The food was fantastic. I had the Pot Roast and it was so tender and delicious. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for upscale comfort food. At first the seating reminded us of some french cafes which means you are sitting right next to other couples. But this worked out because we chatted with a nice couple. So if you like privacy you may want to request a quiet area or skip this place.

Great food. Sit in the main dining room though. The bar service is terribly lacking. The last three times weve visited weve never once been asked if wed like another drink, waters refilled, or checked in on to see if there was anything else we needed or wanted. However, the check always seems to arrive promptly.

Ive tried to come eat at this place 3 times in the last two weeks. At 8 pm To 830 all three times the doors have been locked or Ive been turned away for service. Tonight I called at 8:21 pm on a Saturday and I was told they are done serving for the night. What restaurant closes at 8:21 pm on a Saturday????

This restaurant is absolutely fabulous! I love their seasonal menu and all of their house specialties. The Hill Burger rates as one of the best Ive ever had, and I cant get enough of their tomato basil soup. The lemon caper chicken is a favorite standby and their creme brulee is the best in town. :)

Ingredients is one of our favorate places. We have a tendency to go Thursday, Friday or Saturday and sit in the bar. Rebecca, one of the owners, and the bartender is excellent. She provides top notch service and the food is equally as good. I highly recommend the Hill Cheeseburger. It rocks!

What a neat little restaurant. The mussels were quite good and cooked well. I had the shrimp diablo which had some good heat and flavor. Unfortunately the shrimp were a bit overcooked. Despite that, the shrimp were of good size and there were four or five in the dish.

I have enjoyed dining here in the past with pleasant service and pretty tasty food. Today I phoned to speak with a manager. We had a difference of opinion and he hung up on me. I will not support this business any longer.

Its wonderful food! Warm, crusty bread and pasta wins in our world! The staff is very genuine. We do take out, but the restaurant is always at a low buzz. Nice, warm ambience.

Been here 8+ times. Laid back atmosphere and consistently good, quality food. Nice menu options. Love the pulled pork open face...my go-to place.

Over time many good items have been removed from the menu and replaced with generic yuppie junk and an over abundance of liquid smoke.
