Its OK would be the perfect time way to describe this restaurant. High marks for the employees. They staff was friendly and accommodating. We observed better servers than ours was. The food (steak and potatoes) is high priced and mediocre. Wishing I would have ordered the pasta. My meat was very under cooked, so was my husbands. They over season the steak with rosemary. It sounded good as the server described it but the seasoning ruins the flavor of the meat. The potatoes are not traditional baking potatoes. They have a funny taste. The veggies were good and not over cooked but swimming in butter. The flavored butter that is served with the bread smells a little like vomit. I like olives, but butter with olives in it was a bit of a turn off. The atmosphere is cozy, but cold. I needed to have my jacket on through the meal even though the restaurant was full. We were in the extra dining area by a large window. The fireplace behind me seemed to go live off zero heat. The lighting is nice and dim and the crowd was mostly older couples, no kids. Very peacefull place to eat. I would give this place another try avoiding the American food and the large windows in winter.

Absolute bust. Not only was our table not ready for almost an hour past our reservation time on our anniversary, the quiet table my wife requested was near the kitchen and we had to listen to the owner screaming and berating all of the servers, calling them stupid and threatening them with their jobs. The food was atrocious. Nothing was fresh. The raviolis were frozen and the same at Cosco, as was the 40 dollar surf and turf I ordered. The owners should be ashamed of themselves selling grocery store food and representing it as something else. The server told us all of the deserts were fresh, made in house and later the bartender/manager admitted it was all brought in frozen. Didnt even offer us so much as a glass of wine for making us wait almost two hours to eat crap...Having grown up in NYC and Boston and being Italian and have eaten in Italian restaurants all my life I am more than qualified to state this place is an insult to anyone who dines there.

Italy in the Midwest, perfected. I am a self proclaimed connoisseur of Italian cuisine. This classy establishment has changed the game. There are many Italian restraunts in the Twin Cities that provide an amazing selection of food and ambience. I, however am unable to deny the unique experience Buena Sera provides combining the unique selection of fine wines, dishes and extremely accommodating staff anything short of impeccable. I had heard nothing but positive feedback about this place and when I had decided to give it a shot, I had regret not having visited sooner. I personally, have found that the majority of authentic Italian in the metro areas staff seem to be coached to accommodate. This statement can easily be interpreted as stereotypical. I understand this, but Im just being real based on my personal experiences. The staff here are polite, (more than) hospitable and most importantly genuine. Try Buena Sera, you will not regret.

My boyfriend and I ate here once. I will agree it is a little overpriced but we both enjoyed the food and our server was very good at taking care of us. It was very quaint. I actually like the fact that its right in the middle of a neighborhood, kinda felt like the chef was having us to his house for dinner. We will for sure be back. Anyone who is comparing it to Olive Garden is probably just upset that they had to pay a little more for better food that didnt come with an unlimited bowl of salad drenched in horribly flavorless and oily dressing.

This was a fantastic restaurant to visit! They could actually reduce their seating and get rid of the televisions in the place to give it more of an exclusive feel. Then raise prices, and reduce serving sizes and the place would attract customers looking for the experience they are trying to attain. I would go back in a heartbeat, but the food came out at a slower than expected pace. Reduce the capacity and increase the exclusivity and this place would corner the high end of the Itallian restaurant business for their region of the Twin Cities.

I have been to Buona Sera half a dozen times due to friends liking it there. The restaurant is too small to accommodate the amount of table they have. The chef/owner Rafael is put on a pedestal in which everything he makes is not to be questioned. I am here to say, just because you run one successful restaurant in quiet Champlin, does not mean you are exempt from error. Service is always pleasant but there is still much room for improvement as far as quality of food.

If you are an average person, you prabably will be disappointed in this restaurant. But if you are looking for a Ristorante instead of a restaurant, if you are looking for small unique servings, an exclusive feel and good wine (Im guessing, I dont drink wine), this might be the place for you. That is if you are not annoyed by nice murals painted on ALL of the walls that for some reason have the owners faces poorly plastered onto each one.

This place is so good I dont even want to tell people about it because its already too busy. This is an example of excellence. The sauces are exquisite, for example, try the lobster ravioli as an appetizer split between you and your wife. Silky smooth white cream sauce bursting with refined flavor. The only thing Ive had that wasnt perfect is the Chicken Marsala and only because I found it to be too sweet for my personal liking.

Went last night to celebrate a friends birthday. Sat for quite a while before even getting a glass of water. Then waited longer than expected for server to take our order, which would have been OK if she had been pleasant when she did. Her attitude made us feel like we werent worth her time. Food was good, but not an enjoyable experience altogether. Wont be back.

This place was awesome. Has great outdoor seating available and when you go in, its like entering a little Italian shop in Italy. Quaint with pictures, mood set just right, a light hum to the atmosphere, its awesome. The food was amazing and service was great! Its a a fabulous little place for authentic Italian and a hot date night! A must Stop on By!

It is an okay Italian food place but the reviews seem really inflated. I wouldnt pay full price for the food there. I went because of a Groupon. Got two pasta dishes and they were both on par with a bad olive garden. Table was covered with some parchment paper or something so it seemed like a cheap place. Really good service. Excellent cannoli.

We have been here on 2 separate occasions. Service and staff is great!! Food has been very delicious, no complaints. It is a bit cramped but did not damper our experience in any way. Last time I had a salmon dish that was the special, it was phenomenal. My husband could no quit stealing bites. Love that to support good local businesses.

Double date night, celebrating friendship and life. Im so glad I made reservations here. I dont have a single complaint. Even though it was a Friday night, the atmosphere felt cozy and quaint. The food? Oh.my.god. EVERYTHING was so flavorful!! We will most definitely be returning! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
