I wish I could give this review NO STARS. To Start with, the food here is really good unless you get the hibachi when sitting in the dining area, than its absolutely TERRIBLE. The hibachi at the grill station is so much better. The customer service at this place is HORRIFIC. We had a coupon from Kintaro that they personally issued us and it said $27.00 on it and they wanted to play it off like it only said $2.00. Our waitress argued with us so I asked politely to speak with a manager. The manager, Jane, came over to talk with us about the coupon that they personally issued to us and she also started arguing with us about it. Rita, another worker, showed up by our table while we were talking with the manager and Rita got into our faces yelling at us telling us we were wrong and that it wasnt 27$ when you can clearly see it said 27$. I thought Rita was gonna freak out and hit me she was so Angry and yelling in my face. The manager was just standing there as Rita continued to yell at us and finally the manager got her to leave. The manager kept arguing with us on the coupon so finally I just told her to run my card so we could leave. We loved going here as the food is always great when seated at the hibachi grill and the shows are always fun. After this happening it will be a very long time before we go back or if we ever go back. We will tell all of our friends and family to not go here due to this TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!

So previously I rated Kintaro as a 5. Ive decided to lower it to a 2, not because of the food, but because of the service. They have a "rewards" program. We showed up for my birthday and they told us about the program. We joined and you are supposed to get a $20 gift card on your birthday. When we got the check, we were told we couldnt use it this time. We came back in a week and expected to be able to use it, but found out they hadnt made our card yet, so we also couldnt get the 10% discount that you are supposed to get (couldnt use that the previous time either). We came back one more time and again were told we couldnt use the $20 gift card, but this time they gave us the 10% off and a $15 gift card (only good for 30 days) to use next time instead of the $20. We vowed never to return and let it expire. The food is good, but service and atmosphere is everything. If you want a place where people are happy to see you, go to Misono off Pheasant Ridge Drive and Lexington or So Vood China Restaurant off 125th and 65 if you arent looking for sushi.

I have been here 4 times, twice for Hibachi and twice for sushi. Both times at Hibachi were a blast! The food is fantastic and Im not sure that I will ever have better shrimp anywhere, although the other options are great as well. The most recent time we went was for my birthday and the Chefs name was Honda. It was a very personalized and hilarious "show". I have been to hibachi in Japan and across MN but I have never had this much fun. The first time we had another chef who was also amazing. No matter what chef you get, you are bound to have fun. They go above and beyond, not only with the tricks and flare but with more personal touches like making balloon animals for the kids. It doesnt get any better than this if you are planning on going in for sushi, and certainly not at this price. The combo dinners are so good and I can get 3 of my favorite rolls, along with miso soup and a salad for around 10 to 15 bucks. At that price for high quality sushi, its tough for me to stay away. One more thing Hot Saki!

A jack of all trades Japanese restaurant. Kintaro offers a sushi bar, hibachi grill, and standard Japanese entrees. There is plenty of space inside and they actually have a nice pet friendly patio as well. Small bar with a few taps and several craft cocktail options. They offer plenty of specials and all day happy hour on Sundays. Service was pretty good at 7 PM with a pretty full crowd and the food came out very quickly. Their entrees are enormous! Youll surely need a box to take some home. I tried the general tsos chicken which was very mild for a spicy dish, but still very good. Meal presentation was excellent. Ive had a variety of sushi rolls and all have been high quality fish at a great price. Hibachi is a more personal experience than what you would find at an Osaka or Benihana. The grills are also huge and can seat large parties. Im glad to see Kintaro doing well in Blaine and I hope they continue to do so.

I am giving it 2 stars because I am hoping we have been having bad luck. We have been going there since they opened and used to be very impressed with the food and value. The last 2 times we ordered sushi to go we spent between 50 and 60 and only received 2 small boxes of sushi, each roll we received was short a significant amount. The last time we dined in, we had reservations. We got there 10 minutes early and we were told we had to wait until our reservation time to be sat. The place was almost empty. The time came and went and then we were told we couldnt be sat until more people came in. We ended up waiting up front for am additional 45 minutes before being seated. Then our orders were messed up and we were charged for stuff we never received. I am really hoping this was just bad luck. We used to love this place.

They changed the menu and its not as good anymore and service was slow even when the restaurant wasnt busy. Tonight, we had half of our order not come out because the wait staff brought it to the wrong table. We only found that out after we asked if we could cancel the order since we never got it. Our server would not cancel the order, instead said it was almost done even though we were ready to leave. Management was terrible!! The most she offered was a 10% discount - she wouldnt even match the 15% coupon that they send out!! Ive worked in the restaurant industry at several different places and I couldnt believe they wouldnt at least comp the meal we waited forever for!! Needless to say, we wont be returning!! Good way to lose a repeat customer Kintaro!!

Good experience, went in on a Sunday evening and wasnt too busy. Wife has sushi appetizer which came with a and assortment of different rolls. She liked it and since it was Sunday it was happy hour all day. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was really really good. Came on a sizzling skillet. Tap beer selection is less than other local places but that ok. Atmosphere is very Asian/Japanese. There is outdoor seating as well as live habachi (chefs cooking on grill in front of you) and private room seating. We will most definitely come back and try it again. As far as the rating of 4 starts. If the bar selection was larger and prices a little bit less it would get 5. So not due to bad food or experience.
