Tonight I went to The Deck at Pier Marquette beach in Muskegon. It was GREAT! The service was the best weve had at any restaurant in a really long time. It was busy busy busy but no wait and all the staff was super courteous and timely and accommodating. The food was really good. We had the shrimp civiche for an appetizer and it was so fresh and clean tasting, yum! Husband had the 50/50 Sandwich, 50% pork 50% brisket covered in BBQ sauce that was out of this world. He had Grandmas macaroni and cheese as a side and it was seriously the best Ive ever had. I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was pretty good, although I would have preferred sliced tomatoes rather than diced, but thats minor. My side was the tomato and cucumber salad which was so fresh and so tangy and so good, tasted like summer in every bite. The prices were reasonable and the view was beautiful. Loved it here. ONLY suggestion I could make is I wish they had a larger craft beer selection, but the beer menu now certainly isnt bad. We will absolutely be going back.

Everyone at our table experienced digestive distress after eating here. I have ate at The Deck several times last year and enjoyed going there. Decent BBQ for a good price and a very relaxed atmosphere, HOWEVER, I went there this past Saturday, 8/15/2015 and was greatly disappointed. The pulled pork sandwich was so full of liquid grease, you couldnt even eat the bun, which became the sponge that soaked a large percent of it. The tray that they served the food on was a swimming pool of grease. Everyone who joined me at my table became ill. I wish I could have pin pointed it down to one item on the menu, rather only 2 of the 6 had the pulled pork sandwich, everyone else had something different (non pork related). I am contacting the Health Department as there must be something else going on in the kitchen.

I may have come here on a bad day or maybe Im spoiled by the great barbecue in my own area but I wasnt impressed. My pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun was mediocre; the pork didnt have much flavor on its own and the bun - while tasting fine - smelled strangely synthetic. I understand sticking with a theme that goes with the restaurant name, but the deck chairs used around the tables were uncomfortable and the fact that they are meant for lounging meant awkwardly leaning forward while eating. I think I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again the next time Im in town. With this in mind and the fact that the wait staff was quite friendly, I give them 3/5 for now.

This place is a legit barbeque joint. Just get the sampler platter. It will feed two, and it is amazing. The meats are smoked very well, the sauces are delicious and the sides are amazing. The view of the lake is great. The live music was a nice touch. While dining here, it is very easy to forget that youre in Michigan and not on a beach somewhere in coastal Carolina. The only drawback is that they do not have any draft beer, although they have a decent selection of cans.

I never would have expected the best BBQ of my life from this beach side resturant! The pulled pork was very sweet and savory, it melted in my mouth! They gave us huge portions! For the price it was a great deal!! The only knock I could have for the resturant was the waitress! But still would give her 4 stars! Great view, great atmosphere, great food! What more could you ask for! Would definitely attend again!

I look forward to Memorial Day when they open their doors. Yes the tables and chairs are not the most comfortable to sit at, but after a day at the beach, this is the best spot in town. Great music, great drinks, and amazing BBQ. You will not leave hungry that is for sure! They changed their menu this year, portions seem slightly smaller, but still does not take away from the rest of the experience.

Never knew this place existed! Daughter wanted to go to Pere Marquette Movie on the Beach. We offered to drive the kids since we live in Grand Rapids. Saw "The Deck," Kids went to beach, swung back to have a much needed date-night at deck, met a fun couple whom we all shared our evening with, kids watched the movie, perfect evening for all! This summertime restaurant, well be back to for sure!!!

Great atmosphere and deck! We ate here twice while on a weekend trip to Muskegon. The food was very good - fresh and unique menu items. The only minor disappointment was the staff. Our waitress seemed to forget about us throughout the meal - it took a while in the beginning to get drinks and then our bill at the end of the meal.

Probably one of the worst experiences ever in Michigan. Took 30 minutes to be seated when they had 5 tables open. After we sat down, took another 20 minutes till we got our drinks, and our server had to go behind the bar and make our drinks. The food was very dry and over cooked.

Beautiful beach front location! Right on the water! Wanted to take the wife on a July evening for a quiet relaxing dinner after a day at the beach but it was super crowded and packed! Bad place for her.. an introvert. Great for extroverts and a clebrative party type atmosphere.

Just had my first date with a very special girl....and the experience was far beyond what I expected. The Lake...the beach....the atmosphere... impeccable service... Superior location.... overall Id give it 10 stars. Highly recommend checking it out.

The "chiringuito" on a lake beach !What an astonishing location for a lunch / dinner ! The food is very good for the low price you pay! The service was not the optimal but good enough! Definitively advised for a suggestive dinner on the lake beach!

Ive seen this place tons of times and finally decided to give it a try. The food was amazing and well worth the price. My server was fast and communicated very well. And the music was an enjoyable rock cover band. Overall great place to eat!

Ordered the sample plate. Ribs. Pulled chicken, pork and brisket. Ribs were dried out like jerky. The pork chicken and brisket were a poor excuse for barbecue If your a fan of draft beer .... no taps to be found. Cans only.

Really good BBQ and not badly priced. I got the BBQ sampler to try everything. The only thing was the pulled chicken had a little bit if a bitter taste that I didnt care for.
