Lack of organization. I have been eating here since the grand opening and while the food is good the service occasionally tends to lack attention. 2 plates went undelivered and we had to ask and have them taken off our bill since we never received them Every beverage was gone before the meal was served and stayed empty, not 1 refill or inquiry. we seen our waitress 2 times, to take our order and bring us the bills, the food was brought out by 2 people and we asked them for refills when they where there, they said they would notify the waiter but never did. Seems everytime i go im less impressed and will not be recommending them to friends and family from out of town for a awhile. IF! i go back i will pay close attention to the difference in service from the deck to inside it seems inside is when i see more attention to the customers

The food was delicious, however, we received the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. The tables around us were all having the same problems as us (even with different servers), so it seemed to be a common problem here. The only time we saw our server was when she took our order and when she brought the check. Took forever to get drinks and then one of us didnt even get the correct drink. We waited a long time for our food, but it was semi busy. Upon receiving our food we still had not gotten any silverware. The lady who brought us our food said she would bring us some right out, but ended up serving other tables first and then finally walked past us and remembered we needed silverware. So 5 or more minutes went by after we got our food before we ever received silverware.

This place is a goldmine. Our family of 4 went there on a Saturday afternoon and I could not believe it wasnt packed out. Thankfully the weather was a bit iffy and the touristy areas werent crowded. We had amazing service from one of the friendliest waitresses weve ever come across. We had the Texas sampler and the meat was a bit on the dry side but SO tender and flavorful. The chicken was simply perfection. The mac n cheese and collard greens were standouts along with the very moist cornbread. The view is second to none, parking is plentiful, and the owner is an absolute peach. I wish I could give it a 4.9 just because I dont throw out fives too often. Worthy of a road trip for sure.

Went to have dinner with my son for my birthday, I ordered pulled pork dinner, and he ordered brisket, arrived at 8:09 pm, no food until 9:25 pm, my pulled pork was too dry and blackened every piece,, that wasnt the worst, my sons brisket was 2 thin pieces the size of small bacon strips and all fat, no meat whatsoever, he choked it down due to the fact he was starving. Muskegon is a tourist town in the summer, but were locals, we were very patient and did not complain at the time, since we are locals I will take it up with owner, as soon as I can contact him.The cost of each dinner was $13.50, if I would have known how bad it was I would have went to Habs down the street.

Had lunch at the Boatyard BBQ last week with my spouse & good friend. The food was excellent. Barbecued to perfection; excellent sauces; tender & moist meats. Tried 3 of the 4. Looking forward to trying the sausage next time. Loved those collard greens and corn bread. If you were at the BY-BBQ a few years ago, this is NOT the same. New owners. Attentive and professional wait staff. Handsome bartender, Scotty!! So close to Pere Marquette and our awesome Lake Michigan. Sweet view of Muskegon Lake from the spacious deck.

Business hours are short and unpredictable. This place seems to shut down when the street lights come on. Went here a little past 8:00 during the week and the doors were locked and parking lot empty. It is Friday night and I called to check and they closed at 9. Giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the one time I was able to find the place open the food was decent. Come here early and soon because this place wont be around long.

Unfortunately, we did not get to try the BBQ. Our family of four waited patiently for over 90 minutes as we watched several tables of people who arrived after us being served. No apology just an excuse that there are two businesses and they do not control the making of the food they serve. We asked for our drink bill. Again no apology, so we paid our bill and left. I would not recommend this place.

Very good meal! Healthy (or not so healthy, depending) portions, superb pulled pork. BBQ sauce unique, a little more spicy than I would prefer but still excellent. Would go back next summer.
