Incredibly rude service from the managers, ridiculously over-priced for mediocre food. I dined outdoors with a friend from out of the country who was unaware of Michigan non-smoking laws. He lit a cigarette and within seconds the manager had descended on our table like a vulture with very harsh, aggressive language. (My friend quickly put out his cigarette and explained he had no idea there was a law against it). I spoke to the other manager about how shocked and upset we were with our treatment and she stared at me saying "well there is nothing I can do for you," (as if I was expecting a refund for our meal) and could hardly even get an apology out of her. Im not a fan of smoking either, but there is a polite way to request that a paying guest put out their cigarette in your establishment. On top of all of that, when we got our bill, we found out that we were charged extra for the suggested horseradish vodka in the "chubby mary" drinks we ordered--- our waitress made absolutely no indication that they were tacking on extra fees for this-- and one of the most mediocre bloody marys I have ever had ended up costing me $18. Used to love this place but I will never dine here again.

While visiting friends who were also from out of town, we chose to eat at the Cove. Although the food was pretty good, the service left much to be desired. The waitress kept our drinks full and all that, but when she forgot to bring out part of our meal she treated us like it was our fault somehow. Someone in our group asked for another piece of bread. Instead of letting her know there would be a charge, she gladly brought it. Granted it was 50 cents, but still! Maybe they assume people wont care since youre paying $20+ a plate. Either way, I wouldnt expect an awesome experience or exceptional value if you choose to eat here.

This was the only resturant that was open. The service was good. I ordered the $28 scallop dinner. There were 3 small scallops over cooked and very saltly served on rice. My salad was 80% rib of lettuce and not leaves of lettuce. My husband ordered salmon with cherry sauce. The salmon was undercooked were the center was cold and the cherry sauce was cold and not baked into salmon served on rice. When the waitress asked us how we liked our meal we explained all the above mentioned. No manager came to talk to us and the waitress avoided us until we asked for the check.

Ordered scallops, got diarrhea (after vomiting). If you pay $30 for 3 (yup, three) scallops, they should be perfect. These were not only bland, but they were inconsistently cooked because they were all wildly different sizes, the smallest was maybe the size of a poker chip. I didnt even bother eating the third, thank God! The worst meal Ive had in years from any restaurant- and I made that decision before getting sick. Look at other reviews and know this is not a fluke- avoid the Cove! More poison than food.

Appetizers - especially the whitefish pate - were excellent. Seafood chowder incredible. All the entrees were very average. The Parmesan crusted whitefish was shockingly tasteless. Steaks were meh. Service was sub par. They were clearly understaffed. Not once did the waitress ask us if we wanted refills and apparently they dont have deserts because WE WERE NEVER ASKED IF WE WANTED ANY. lol. Id go back for the chowder but probably wont bother.

Great place to go for a view of the Leland harbor and fishing boats. Sit outside for a nice view of the dam and an opportunity to look over the fishing trawlers and deep-lake boats as they go out of come in. The food is okay, but nothing special -- a bit greasy, somewhat bland. But if you find yourself eating here, get some whitefish. Youre right next to the fishery after all!

Used to be a great place to eat. Now it seems to be more of a bar setting. Very young manager that didnt seem to care what was going on. Everything was premade, ordered the parmesan garlic encrusted Whitefish. It came with bread crumbs on it and no cheese encrusted on the fish at all. Sent it back and came back out with just cheese melted on top. Tasteless!

Loved the setting, in a historic fishing village next to a shanty where they were smoking local fish (smelled awesome). Great, fun atmosphere, excellent service. The portions were huge and the local whitefish sandwich was wonderful. Priced appropriately, we paid around $30 for 2 full lunches and a kids meal, which included a bowl of (fabulous) chowder.

We drive up from Kalkaska every spring, I cannot wait for them to open every year. I get the great lakes sampler of perch, walleye and white fish and am blown away by how fresh and amazing it is. I always enjoy a glass or two of the local Riesling as well, and with the waterfall view outside and warm inviting ambiance inside, its a win win. A must try. ♡

Had the best Dinner there during the best sunset on Lake Michigan. We went to their annual "Here comes the Sun Party". The Food was perfect and with the best atmosphere. The cove is the home of the worlds first Chubby Mary. The cove is located in Leland Michigan. This town is a must visit. Also called Fish town.

Really good food, in a visually interesting setting (the decorations of the restaurant and the scenery). Sits on the Carp River, overlooking Fishtown, which gives you plenty to watch as you eat this food you wish was in your home town. I can recommend the chicken salad wrap, fried whitefish, and whitefish tacos.

This restaurant is located in Leland Michigan in the quaint area called Fishtown. The cove has a casual yet upscale inside dining room. It also has a large outdoor dining area with hamburgers cooked on an open grill. Very relaxing next to a small dam and the Leland river with views of lake Michigan.

I took my family to see the town of Leland and remembered eating here. I ordered Perch for my 18 mo old granddaughter and myself. She ended up with diarhea and I did as well. Not a fun thing when you are camping in a tent. I will not go back to this restaurant again.

The cove has an amazing feel as soon as you walk in. The fish is great and the view from the balcony is spectacular. The o ly problem I have is the price which is on the expensive side. If you are in fish town I recommend this restaurant 100%

We ordered 5 burgers, 1 was a hockey puck, the other 4 were totally raw inside. It was terrible. We left. Talked to staff at our hotel and they said they just throw slop at the tourists bc they are one of the few restaurants in town....

The ambience is very cool. Very Fishtown. The chubby fish in the Bloody Mary a twist and kinda good. Mostly its overpriced fare with not enough flavor. If it wasnt in Fishtown, on the channel, it would be off my list.

Beautiful view of the dam waterfall in historic Fish town in Leland. Decent food and drinks but the view makes it worth a visit. Open seasonally so check if your are in Leland for a color tour as it may be closed.
