My husband and went last night, and the food was great, however, our server was completely incompetent. When asked what we would like to drink, it took our waiter almost 20 minutes to return with the drinks, and then we only received one because he forgot what the other drink was. Then another waiter ended up bringing our other drink to the table instead of our server. Almost 20 minutes after that our server walks up and asks if we are ready to order when we said yes, he looked at my husband and said just a minute Ill be right back without taking our order and then continues to help other people. I have worked in restaurants for 16 years now and this horrified me to see a server treat his guests this way. It was not just us either, I over heard a table next to ours saying that they had asked this same waiter for their check more than 45 minutes prior and had to ask a different waiter for the check. I will not be returning to this restaurant no matter how good the food and prices are.

This was our first time dinning at the Bristol. We stopped there prior to going to a jazz concert at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. In short, when one is paying $25 for one entrée; in this case, I ordered the New York Strip Steak, I expect it to be cooked just as I ask. I have NEVER had such poor quality food; especially for the price. Both my husband and I ordered the same entrée along with 2 cocktails each. Our bill was $80 something dollars. In saying that, my steak was overcooked and tough; the potato that came with the meal was the size of a small fist, and the salad wouldnt satisfy an infant it was so small. The service was ok as I did have our waiter and I assume the manager offer to re cook my steak, but as we know it is an unwritten rule to never send food back. Other than offering to re cook my steak, they did not offer anything else; no money off of my bill or free desert. I ate what I could, but this experience is enough for us to say that we will never be back.

I simply cant rate this place above average. Though lunch at the restaurant is lively, the quality is hit or miss. The menu itself has lots of great options. But the actual preparation is often a miss. I work nearby and end up eating here more than Id like. Usually the lettuce in the salads is brown. I switched to spring mix and it was no better since there was brown water in the bottom under the spring mix. The sandwiches are more reliable. Todays swordfish lunch special was no good. The fish was really thin, smelled somewhat fishy, and was rubbery. It tasted like it was microwaved leftovers. Swordfish is supposed to be firm, a little bit of flake, and sliced substantially. This thin piece was disappointing. Id rather see fewer options prepared well and fresh. And please, get lettuce that isnt brown for my salad.

I came here for a lunch one Saturday and we were seated quickly by the hostess. The first thing I had to try was the build-your-own Bloody Mary. When you order it, the waiter hands you a pint glass filled with vodka and youre free to add as many ingredients to it as you want. There were plenty to choose from: there were all kinds of tomato juice blends, olives, peppers, cheeses, and herbs. Unfortunately there was no bacon to add to it. For food, I ordered the steak sandwich expecting it to have sauces or other things added to it. What I got was a piece of white bread with a steak just sitting on top of it. The chips on the side were seasoned well, but not enough to offset the blandness of the "sandwich". They really need to rethink this dish. Overall, the place was nice and I would come back to build another Bloody Mary.

Had an excellent time and great meal tonight at this Downtown Louisville stop on the Urban Bourbon Trail. After a lack luster stop before landing here down the street we found this local joint. Great selection of Bourbon including a house selection and some rare items. Had their signature appetizer, the green Chile wontons, really good. I had the pork chop and my wife had the shrimp and grits. Menu is locally sourced, portions are generous and food was well prepared. We really enjoyed our meals, visit at the bar and highly recommend this spot. As an industry person, I believe this is the type of place the public is in need of, good food, good service and fair prices. Cheers Bristol Bar and Grille!

Ive gone to other Bristols and not had issues. Here, I ordered the Vegetarian Burger, but needless to say I was very disappointed. It was a store-bought bun (onion bun that came out "squarish" like in the plastic bags they are packaged from the grocer), the bean burger, and 1 piece of lettuce that didnt cover half of the burger. The fact that any kind of "cook" sends this out is beyond me (at any restaurant). The server is no less guilty since they are the QA for the kitchen. Amazing that restaurants still DO NOT know how to cook vegetable-based meals; just really sad.

The downtown Bristol customer service was horrible. I ordered a hamburger that was supposed to be medium well and it came out well well well done. I then asked for something quick because everyone elses food was already out. The server suggested crab cake appetizers which were very small. When my bill came out nothing was comped and when I spoke to the manager he acted as if i should have been glad that he took off the hamburger. The food was terrible I will not be visiting that location again.

My boyfriend and I stopped in along the Urban Bourbon Trail for a quick drink at the bar. The bar tender barely gave us the time of day for the extent of our stay. Then, she and two other wait staff were congregating at the end of the bar right next to us and gossiping for long periods of time. I am not against coworkers having a chat and having fun with each other every now and then but I thought their actions were a little over the top and a bit unprofessional.

Great stop if youre downtown. If youre staying downtown, walk a few blocks past the 4th ave covered downtown area to this place. You wont be disappointed. Food is well prepared and the wine selection is excellent. Prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area. I travel to Louisville a couple of times a year for trade shows and never made it to here till today. Will definitely return.

I dont want to give any restaurant 1 star, but I really thought about it with this one. The service was rude and the food bad. It was cold when we got it and the restaurant was far from busy. it was brought to the attention of the waiter, but he wasnt too keen on fixing the issue. I wasnt to keen to leave a tip. Others may have had a better experience but we wont be going back.

Great service, but the food is nothing to boast about. Its a shame that we waisted a meal here on our short stop in Louisville. We have just been enthralled by the unique restaurants throughout downtown the past couple years. This one stood out as a Louisville favorite online, but the food tasted as bland as the menu read. How is this a favorite???
