Four West Michigan barbecue joints in 1.5hrs for lunch. That was my goal, and mission accomplished! First off, theres only 2 things I cared about: brisket and sausage; both the most difficult thing and easiest thing to cook, respectively. Two Scotts was first on the agenda and came in last place. The brisket was somewhat juicy but completely lacking in flavor on both the rub and smoke fronts. The meat faired pretty well in the pull test, but could have been more tender. A significant problem was the lack of any serious bark on my slices. In fact, 3/4 of my portion had no bark at all - just the exposed fat cap layer that, quite frankly, wasnt rendered down nearly enough. The lack of bark is indicative of three things: 1. Not enough rub, 2. not enough evenly distributed rub and, 3. pulled too soon. Ill get to that in a minute. The brisket that the slicer had on the slab certainly had some bark, but for large sections the fat cap was plainly visible. Smoke flavor was practically non-existant which left the overall flavor somewhere around pot roast. Bark on every single slice of brisket, whether from the lean or moist end, is par for the course and criminal behavior when missing. The lack of all-over bark, bark that is a bit of a wet mess, and meat that is just shy of really tender usually point to one thing: Its being pulled too soon and/or isnt being rested long enough. Id say maybe both. The key to that elusive sugar cookie bark is low and slow. That bark has got to be nearly black when you pull it. If not, youre just fartin around. Whether its pulled and then wrapped, then placed back on for more hours, then pulled and rested - is neither here nor there for great bark. The sausage, however, was delicious but did taste more grilled than smoked. Everyone in this place was cool and are clearly busting their butts. I wish them success but cant urge them enough to leave that brisket in the smoker for a longer period of time until the bark is black, pull and wrap with butcher paper, and stick it back on until you get that precious jello wiggle. Then rest for hours, lol. Best of luck guys! 1st place: Dallas Deli, Grandville 2nd place: Slows Bar BQ, Grand Rapids 3rd place: Horseshoe Smokehouse, Grand Rapids 4th place: Two Scotts, Grand Rapids

Extremely extensive BBQ MENU! We ordered Scotts Combo with 3 meats(we chose pulled pork, smoked sausage, & BBQ brisket), 2 sides (pimento mac&cheese, & brisket chili), bread, & a bev. We also got smoked mushrooms plus another bev. There was SO much food we couldnt eat it all & it was meant for 1 person! And we are big eaters! Everything was so flavorful! There are some fabulous sauces that are available that also accompany all the different meats that are available! You are greeted by very friendly guys as soon as you walk in & the wonderful customer service never ends until you walk out the door! The place is spotless, from the service counter to the tables & floors! I recommend this place for dining in, take out, or any catering event you can come up with where you need out of this world Authentic BBQ & Great Service

Some of the best Q Ive ever had and Ive had a lot. Great flavor, a little light on the salt (Im a salt nut though!) but otherwise perfect. I had the "Scott # 3 Combo" that allows you to choose 3 meats, 2 sides that come with bread and sliced pickles. The combo gives you the ability to sample a variety of their offerings in one shot. They ran out of several items after we had already ordered and paid but one of the Scotts was right on it; comping us for the items they did not have AND giving us the substitutions. Great attitude and great food. Once they find their footing in how to keep the right amount of inventory on hand and manage the high volume they will be good to go. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed! Cheers, JR Prahl

For their third day open it was very good food. By the end of the summer Two Scotts will be a really good bbq place. The kitchen staff were obviously new to working with each other, but once a nice rhythm falls into place they will put out some really high quality food. The pulled pork was tender and juicy enough, but under salted, and the same goes for the slaw. The tots were well constructed, held together, and were still crsipy despite being somewhat room temperature upon receiving them. Im going back soon.

Stopped in with my mother when she placed an order ahead, had the combo of three meats, two sides, and a drink. The sauces were delicious, and there was a dog sauce made of horseradish and mayo as well as a SC mustard. The meats were all top notch and the ribs my mother ordered ahead were some of the best dry rub ribs Ive ever had. One simple tip: order ahead and early to enjoy things that run out halfway through their four hour open period!

Three of us ordered pulled pork sandwich combos which come with Cole slaw, can of pop, and a side. We chose the baked beans and tots for our sides. The baked beans are mediocre and the homemade tots were undercooked and mushy. The Cole slaw is awful. The sandwich was good but not great and at a cost of $35.00 I think this will be our only visit. The staff was very friendly and polite

Went in to get some lunch, got the #3 combo. 3 meats of your choice and two sides. Seems like enough for the two of us right? Not even close, they put barley any meat in the box & their sides are tiny! I enjoyed the little portions that I received but it wasnt worth $20 for that little of food. we had to grab a pizza on the way home so we were both fed for lunch.

Fantastic food! I got the #3 which I picked pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. All were delicious, but I regretted not getting a whole order of ribs. They fell of the bone and had excellent flavor. Im very picky about ribs, but these passed the test! Cornbread was very moist, however skip the coleslaw. Overall, I was very pleased and will come again next time in GR!

I really like this place. Small, perfect menu, delicious smoked meats, a variety of homemade sauces, and yummy sides. Great place to grab barbeque for lunch or a pound of meat for dinner. The thing that makes this BBQ better than the rest in the area is their amazing sauces. Every one is better than the last, no matter what order you have them in.

Damn!!!!!!! This is the business. Those burnt ends and the ribs, without sauce, is the bomb. No sauce is the best way to show true bbq. Two Scotts hit a grand slam. The rub is sooo good. Its all about the rub!!!! Im not against sauce but Id prefer it to be on the side. Dont forget those pickles. Fi e stars baby.... Welcome to the Gun Ru Scotts.

Im proud to say that we were the first customers at the Grand Opening. And, as much as that makes me happy, it makes me more pleased still that we had excellent BBQ! The brisket and kielbasa were top notch! And the sauces.... And the sides... Thanks to both of the Scotts, and to their staff, for a great first impression! We will be back soon!
