I stumbled upon this cozy ramen joint by accident once we saw that Neehees was closed on Sundays. All I have to say is that Im really glad we did! This is one of those classic hole-in-the-wall strip mall joints that I love finding, that values delivering good food over people-pleasing aesthetics. The ramen here was delicious, and the portions are huge compared to other places Ive been. I tried the champon ramen, which comes with seafood. I was expecting a few tiny shrimp, maybe a few other scraps of seafood, but this came with 5 huge prawns, basically an entire squid cut into strips, and a ton of other delicious bites. It was almost more than I could finish! I also got the takoyaki (kind of like octopus pancake balls), which was a delicious appetizer. This place is small, with only three tables that could sit more than two people. And it seems that their hours are focused on lunch and dinner, and they close between meals. I will definitely be back here the next time I find myself in Canton for an Ikea trip.

I seriously love Matsu Chan! The food is fantastic, the prices are extremely reasonable, and I was thrilled that I could get onigiri (riceballs) and takoyaki (fried octopus balls). I have been looking for a restaurant since I got back from Japan that serve these, and I really lucked out. I even had the joy of treating my boyfriend to authentic Japanese cuisine. All together, we spent $26 on 2 riceballs, a plate of takoyaki, two huge bowls of udon, and two cups of hot tea. Easily my favorite place to grab a bite. My only qualm was how small the dining space is. We got there less than 15 minutes after they opened and there was one table left, while several people waited 20+ minutes to be seated. While I would also wait to eat here, I dont really like that its a very distinct possibility, especially considering my boyfriends work schedule.

Wow. This place was TERRIBLE. Let me start off by saying that Ive lived in Japan for 18 years and Im half Japanese. Ive eaten ramen easily over 500 times in my life at various locations in Japan. This is one of the worst ramen Ive ever had in my life. The soup was thin but salty. The dumplings tasted like they were heated up from frozen store brand dumplings. The inside decor looks old and dirty. I understand that Im not in Japan so theyre isnt much competition for ramen, but this is beyond unacceptable. Never ever coming here again and if you know anything about ramen then I suggest you dont come here either.

We ordered 4 dishes and all of them were disappointing. Takoyaki looked straight out of a microwave, tonkotsu ramen and chanpon were very bland and did not taste authentic at all (I am from Fukoka Japan so I know how authentic tonkotsu should taste like...), and fried chicken was soggy. The ramen broth tasted like they just used an instant ramen powder and watered it down. Would not recommend.

I love Matsuchan! The spicy noodle bowl and the curry ramen are unsurpassed in the Detroit metro area. Their broth is full-bodied, unlike the more recently opened noodle shops. The only negative I have about Matsuchan is that its so small and sometimes I have to wait to get my favorite ramen.

This is your typical ramen shop. The interior was clean but definitely a little run down. Comfortable table and temperature. Service was good. The fried rice was good. The ramen doesnt come with an egg. Nothing spectacular and I wouldnt recommend.

One of the best places around. I used to live very close, but now am about 20 miles away. I still drive out to Matsu Chan at least once a month. Their food is absolutely fantastic. If you ever get a chance to eat here, dont hesitate, just do it!

Probably the BEST Ramen Place Around. Their large bowls of Ramen are very delicious! It also comes with a large spoon but you can request a smaller one if youd like. I also like their lunch specials, great big portions for a nice value!

Im 32 years old. Ive been coming to this place ever since I was just 10 to 12 years old. Got so close to the family, the owners even came to my mothers funeral. The food is absolutely wonderful. Best Ramen house in Michigan.

The staff is pretty amazing and everyone is super nice but the food. I have tried it so many times hoping to find something that fits my taste and I have tried many suggestions but the food is always too salty or too bland.

Authentic Japanese restaurant. Best around town. Well drive an hour just for lunch or dinner. The Udon soup is amazing. My children prefer shrimp dumpling for an appetizer. Chicken bowl main entry. Friendly, fast service.

My daughter and I travel there every few months to have a curry soup and Champon Soup. The rice balls, soups, and dumplings are super. I used to work in the area and still like to eat there for lunch or dinner.

Great little ramen shop. My seafood ramen had plenty of flavor and I hate that I couldnt finish it all in one sitting. The service was cheerful and punctual. Definitely a must visit place if you can swing by.

People rave about this place because the Ramon is pretty good at a fair price; however the seating is extremely limited, it is the size of a carry out, they need to expand.

Best place to get your ramen fix on this side of the state. Some of the soup can be salty ... but still one of the best. Almost the same taste with ramen I tried in Tokyo

Unbelievably amazing food. If you want to expose someone to Japanese culture, food is a great place to start. And Matsu Chan is the best possible example in Michigan.
