very bad experiences. Our family had been there 3 times, hoping would get better service for next time in the first two visits, but end up very disappointed. First time, the server refused my kids, one is 8 and other one is 9, ordered from the kids menu because they dont look like 8 and 9. Fine, I ordered one meal for them to share, the business ends up making few dollars less. Second time, a Chinese server spoke very little English with no smile at all messed up our order badly, two out of four were wrong, the hibachi chef had to re-prepared again before cooking. Our drinks were never refilled. The last time, with a hope that we can get better service than the previous two, but never happened. A different Chinese server spoke even less English than the previous one, rushed us to order before we sat down. She didnt give us the menu, didnt asked what we want to drink and immediately demanding us must to order at that moment, if not, we couldnt sit by the hibachi table because they had a 15-people-party is coming in the next 20 minutes and she needed to prepared for that. We never see the menu that night, we just order what we remember from the menu, we didnt get out drink at all, not even water. After we paid, I told the server that we never got our drink, she looked at us, didnt apologized, and walked away. That day, was my little girls 9th birthday, it was ruined. When we left, the party still not show up yet. The food generally is edible, not great. The cooking is not an authentic Japanese food. It[s Chinese cook selling at Japanese cuisines price. I learned that the owner is not Japanese, none of the workers are Japanese. The Sakuras owner is the brother of the owner in next door, a Chinese buffet, China Star. They used to own the buffet business together for many years, but didnt work out. The owner has no experience in Japanese food, and he is the head of the chef in the kitchen. And not to mention the sushi, he didnt use sushi-rice for the sushi, instead, trying to make more money out of the customer, he used white rice that looks similar shape than the sushi-rice for the sushi but tastes completely different, because the sushi-rice is cost almost double than the white rice. They over charge the customers for the cheap food sources. Plus that kind of services, this non authentic Japanese restaurant is out of my dining list.

I have been going to Sakura for a few years. The quality was never great, and I have eaten sushi from CA to NY, but it was okay. We went there the other night. The waitress spoke almost no English, making it difficult to explain our food allergies or to ask questions. Finally I wrote down what we needed, specifically for her to give to the chef. The food was mediocre, the rolls were not rolled tightly and fell apart, the red snapper and yellowtail tasted off, and nothing was inspiring. The environment -- air quality -- was such that I had an hour long asthma attack. It seemed that they turned the fans on and off, and that when they turned them off, the air quality got very bad. When I complained the manager justified the not fresh fish with, "the trucks came last night" as if a truck couldnt leave them with unfresh fish. The manager did not speak good English and used a waiter to speak with me about the air quality. He was dismissive and acted as if I was beneath him, and that the issues I was bringing up did not matter. Even after talking to another American waiter, they still did not get it. That if I experienced an asthma attack, that there was something wrong with the air quality in the restaurant. At no point did the manager or the waiters offer to take anything off the bill (which I did not ask for) or to remediate in any way. Given that my daughter and I have food allergies, our entire meal was a la carte and not inexpensive. I have been a chef twice. I have been a waitress three times. My friends own restaurants. This is not how I expect to be treated at a sushi house. I would give them zero stars if I could.

I love going to Sakura for lunch! For the steak meal, I usually have enough to take home for a small second meal. All the chefs are attentive to detail, so if you have any special food requests, they will do their best to help out! I love the atmosphere. Its really neat to have a (faux) cherry tree in the middle of the place. And the bathrooms are SWANK. Ive never had a bad meal here. The steak is always perfectly cooked, and I loveeeeee the rice. The best part is that lunch is usually 1/2 price of the dinner menu! I honestly cant rave about this place enough.

Waaayyy overpriced for what you get. Paying almost $11-15 per roll, I expected the portions to be comparable to most other sushi restaurants, but they were smaller than what you get at Publix! The flavor was good, but for the price, not worth it. They werent rolled very tight and fell apart when you picked them up. This was the first sushi I have had since having a baby and was so excited, but ended up thoroughly disappointed. Perhaps their hibachi is better but I would go elsewhere for the sushi!

Best sushi in Athens, hands down. Ornately and beautifully decorated despite its modest appearance on the outside. Staff is quick and attentive, but not overbearing. The food is gorgeously presented and everything we have tried has been absolutely delicious. If youve got a date or a buddy that loves sushi, go for the sushi/sashimi for two - just try to contain your enthusiasm when you see it approaching your table . . . its stunning.

You wouldnt expect this restaurant at this location but you walk in and feel like youre in another world. The owner definitely spent time and money decorating. The food was the best hibachi I have had by far. They do the traditional grill in front of you and the traditional fire tricks but our cook and waiters were entertaining and prompt with everything. Ill definitely be going back soon!

This restaurant is beautiful and very elegant. I sat in the regular dining area and ordered the Chicken Hibachi and I wasnt extremely impressed with my meal. I felt the Chicken Hibachi was below average compared to other competitors in town. I will probably go again sometime, but I may try a different dish and some of their delicious looking sushi next time instead.

The service here was fast and extremely good. The sushi was by far the best Ive ever had, and it was served in a very unique way, on top of ice with decorative plants and lights in the ice. Although Sakura was a little expensive, it was worth every penny! I would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant if you happen to find yourself in Athens!

The oriental Hostess is always rude when I went in there. Only been twice but will not return. Asked to sit at the bar, from the time I walked in no one was sitting there. After waiting 20 minutes, being ignored and then completely ignored...I walked out! Just visiting Athens, horrible customer service!!
