I am basically writing this review as a response to Caleb Weber’s review, from week earlier. Mr. Weber, This is one of the busiest restaurants in the area and YOU failed to make a reservation and YOU decided to wait 1.5 hours for a table at their busiest time. I’m not sure what you were expecting other than to wait 1.5 hours. However, not wanting to believe that YOU would have to wait, you asked when to expect a seat. It sounds to me that the hostess gave you an appropriate response; it was just one that YOU didn’t like. So when you didn’t get the answer that you wanted, you resort to name calling and writing a bad review. Would you even be eligible to attend a class reunion, as your behavior and review are indicative of a child? We have held several private parties, sat on the traditional and hibachi side multiple times, and have always had exceptional service from the hostess to the servers and chefs. I’m writing this review for the benefit of others who may have read your one-sided review, so that they know that Nagoya is classy with fine service, just not all their patrons who write reviews have the same class.

In town for a soccer tournament and found this restaurant close by in the Towne Commons area by our hotel. We enjoy sushi and since our son is a vegetarian this fit the bill perfectly. We opted out for the hibachi experience. Been there done that plus you will have to wait. Sat for dinner immediately. Our server was prompt, courteous and dressed professionally. Took our cocktail order and served them in under 5 minutes (also brought waters without asking). Menu was very good. Just a tip, the sushi selections are on a white paper slip laying on the table, not the main menu. Ordered off off both. Appetizers were out within 10 minutes or less. Dinner was not far behind. Food was of great quality and portions sizes were generous. Service is not overbearing but no lack of attention at any time. Nice clean modern establishment with a walkable neighborhood. Cant understand any negative reviews here. Just dont forget about the sushi menu, thats why you go here!

We have been here for birthday dinners and work. It is Very Pricey!! We like the Alcatraz rolls, tuna rolls, Seared Ahi Tuna, Sumo Steak, the ginger salad usually comes with Way too much ginger sauce. The miso soup is okay, to me it tastes like all miso soups Ive tried before. We tried the habatchi grill before, too. Its a good presentation the first time! The script never changes and they always do the same act. The create food fire, and throw food at you while they cook. This is entertaining; however, if you dont want to sit with random people then either have at least 9 people to fill up the habatchi grill table, or sit at the regular tables an enjoy your food. Note: I recommend doing the habatchi thing only once, next time you dine you can get a regular table and still order habatchi food at Sakura on Monroe Street.

This restaurant is entertaining and has very good food, but the last time I ate there, I found a hidden cost on our bill. I went out for my dads birthday, and during the course of the meal, mentioned that fact to the waitress. She simply nodded and walked away, so I assumed that they didnt have any kind of birthday routine. My whole family was very surprised when, at the end of the meal, our waitress and cook came back singing "Happy Birthday", carrying a small plate of fried ice cream and some fruit. Though that was fun, when we examined our bill, there was an extra $11.00 charge for the "birthday special". For an already pricey restaurant, this was a huge shock, and had we known, we would have opted out of any birthday celebration. Ill likely go back, but Ill never mention anything about a birthday again.

Oh just waited 3 hrs when told it would be 2 hrs. After watching them seat party after party that came in after us, we asked what was going on. "Oh they made a reservation." Really because when I showed my phone call earlier in the day TO MAKE a reservation, they told me they did not take any on the weekends. Ill never get those 3 hrs back of my life and I know damn well Ill never waste another minute again. They say if you have a good experience, youll tell a friend and if you have a bad experience, youll tell ten. Ill tell 10 a day. Skip these fools and go to Sakura or Kobe Bay. At least they will give you a decent experience.

Took my SO of our anniversary for my second trip there. First time was perfect, this time not so much. Service was great food was even more spectacular. Our drinks tasted like shots of things mixed not drinkable in the state we recieved them. My SO even had hers replaced. That is forgivable. Too much liquor in your drink. Not much of a complaint there. It was right after we left. Food poisoning for both of us for two days. We treated ourselves to a nagoya roll before we left and I can almost guarantee that the sushi chef touched something then touched our cooked sushi. That is unforgivable as no one wants a repeat of seafood poisoning

As always, the food is good. The chefs are amazing, and the atmosphere is pleasant. However, each on the 4 or 5 hostesses needed a name tag that said, "Couldnt care less." After an hour of waiting, I asked about when we could expect a seat. The reply, which sounded vaguely human was, "you were checked in at 5:51. We quoted you an hour and a half. You still have another 30 minutes until then." Well, after that brief math lesson, I decided to go sit in the corner and wait until one of the fem-bots sat us. What a shame. A date night surrounded by cold, hard, unpleasantries at the door. I couldve gone to class reunion if I wanted that.

Went to Nagoya for lunch today and was shocked at how bad their service is, which Ive heard is normally a lunch only situation. When we got there they said it would be 10 minutes, because their single server needed to get caught up with other tables. Our server was very good, but took a long time to bring us our food and probably an extra 20 minutes just for the check. Quality of the food was very good, 12 dollars gets you a roll, soup, salad, and chefs choice nigiri. I would go back, but probably avoid going at lunch, due to being late by almost 45 minutes to work.

Been there many times but the last 3 times we noticed a trend of packing as many at a table as possible. 8 is comfortable, 9 is tight but 10 leaves 2 people hanging over the edges. And on a Thursday night with a half empty place is not a way to get return business In addition tonight we waited for 65 minutes from arrival till chef started cooking. The grill cooking was excellent but the sushi today fell apart before you even touched it. 3rd time around with a subpar overall experience will have me looking around and trying other places instead...

Food is okay, its no Benihana. They need to stay open way later. Why would a restaurant surrounded by the only things to do in Toledo close at 10pm on Friday, and Saturday nights????? Most people are not comfortable showing up at a restaurant an hour before they close so you would have to get here by at least 8:30; which still wouldnt be long enough especially since service is rather slow. The food is really good, and the sakitinis are amazing. If they changed their hours of service it would much easier to enjoy this restaurant on the weekends.
