We came 10 min till 10am, there was a wait of approximately 25 min, its understood give or take maybe more or less. Our wait time turned into 45 min, I asked the hostess about our wait time, and she said that there would be 3 more ahead us. This wait then turned into a hour and a half wait, so I went back again to ask about us being seated and she had already moved onto another guest list and a line had been drawn through my name on the old list. We were seated right outside the front door, so we heard EVERY single name called, so it was no way we missed it. This kind of ruined my first experience at this restaurant as it has been given rave reviews from people that I know and the written reviews. Several people that came in after us were seated before us including someone that the hostess apparently knew because she hugged this lady, and she walked them inside and they were seated before us. This is bad business and very unprofessional. But on to the food, i ordered the fried chicken, which was really good, seasoned very well, the grits which are a nogo for me, taste more like polenta, if youre from the south you know there is a difference, the consistency was not right, i am used to a creamy buttery flavor, they were gritty. I also ordered one pancake a la Carte, very good, and i also had fruit which i didnt eat because there was a short hair maybe an eyelash on it, which the waitress was very nice about substituting, it was no biggie it happens. Sweet tea was also very good. I would come back, maybe at a time when it is not so busy.

This is the best breakfast place in the city!! My boyfriend and I decided to try it yesterday and we were blown away! The food is amazing--they use local vendors for the grits and coffee (not sure what else) and their fresh squeezed orange juice was so delightful (and that is coming from someone who does not usually drink orange juice.) The portions were perfect and each one was presented beautifully on the plate. We arrived around 2p and saw how they were closing at 2:30p. Our server, Castles, made us feel beyond welcome! We decided to try almost all of his recommendations and we was on point! He was so friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and did not make us feel as though he was simply trying to sell more items. During our meal, another server was cleaning up his area and noticed that my coffee was only halfway full. He took a moment to let Castles know so I would not end up with an empty cup. WOW!! Talk about above and beyond! I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place! We will be coming back ASAP!

As the server took our drink order we asked for lemon with our water. The water came, no lemon. We asked again, still, no lemon. My husband went to the counter and asked for it, finally we were given some lemon slices. When my husband placed his order, he asked for extra butter. When our meal came, no butter. We asked the woman who brought our food. No butter. As the biscuits were getting cold, my husband then went back to the counter to ask for butter. We had to flag down our server to get our water refilled. I told her we were not happy with the service. She banged her hand on our table and walked away. When she came back with the check, (we didnt have to ask for it), she had a bad attitude. I asked for the manager. When we explained our experience her attitude changed towards us. I left, will never be back. The food wasnt good enough to overlook the bad service.

Great breakfast/brunch place for those who partake in such activities. Service was prompt and friendly. My only complaint was the excessive wait time when there were clearly a half-dozen outdoor tables available. I assume that they were understaffed for post-Iron Bowl brunch, but its difficult to completely disregard the wait. There were easily ten other groups waiting for seats outside the entrance in the parking lot. I opted for the Creole Omelet, which was generous to say the least. The eggs were well cooked although the catfish was not particularly noticeable. The gratuitous amount of home fries only added to my indulgence. Dont expect to be able to finish the entire meal.

This is my favorite restaurant in Bham, and I am SO excited that theyre opening a second location in Homewood sometime soon. Great quality, super portions, and friendly staff. I love the decor, especially the outdoor seating space (newly furnished with a covering and pet-friendly)! They have something for everyone in your group. Meat-lovers will love the BB Plate, Skillet, or Steak and Eggs. Veggie-lovers will love the Avocado Toast, the Yard Work, or the Veggie Omlette. They have specialty coffee and cocktails, too. Please please please go here. You will not be disappointed. ❤️ P.S. If you like spicy, treat yourself to a side of Big Bad Bacon.

Weve been to Big Bad Breakfast twice now. The first time we were very pleased with taste, portion and price but this time was slightly different. On our first visit we each got a breakfast skillet and they were very good. The coffee was also very tasty. The 2nd time I got the steel cut oats which are on the menu for $8. The portion was served in a very shallow bowl and I thought it was quite pricey for the amount. The coffee was also bitter tasting. My spouse got the cathead chicken biscuit and felt like the portion was also too small. We will go again but hope to not be disappointed as time goes on.

This was my husband pick today for breakfast. Hes a sucker for a good biscuit & country ham so I think this is why he picked BBB. For the most part it didnt disappoint. He ordered the Yard Work Skillet (naturally, with a biscuit) & I tried the Cahaba Lily Omelet (& got pressured to try the biscuit). So the verdict was that I got a lot more food, which I suppose I did, but that they were both equally filling bc we both left stuffed. The biscuit was the sweet variety, which was upsetting to the hubby (hes a buttermilk biscuit guy). Overall, good food.

Alicia gave fantastic assistance and made us feel at home. Chicken and waffles (I chose dark meat) were awesome as was the egg skillet. The biscuits were served with thick cream butter (clotted cream) and fresh, world-class, French-style strawberry jam. The Octone coffee will get you on your game for sure! We were seated in 15 minutes outside and when it began to rain a bit we were immediately moved inside; the staff saw it coming and made room for us. Ill definitely bring my guests here for a taste of Birmingham. Thanks again!

Overpriced and underwhelming . Took 2 hours out of my Saturday due to wait time and extremely slow food service . Chicken and waffles special sounded great, but the chicken wasnt flavorful and the waffle was so chewy I couldnt cut it with my butter knife. Basically had to tear it apart with my fingers. Bloody Mary had wayyy too much garlic, and this is coming from a garlic fan. I wanted to love this place, but I didnt. Next time I feel like spending so much on breakfast, Ill be going back to the Alabama biscuit company.
