We go to the movies almost once a week, and had driven 30 miles to get to the Maple. We went to see "The Book Thief" Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving. The concession area was packed - we would have been smarter to go to the South door and come in that way, although the ticket line was WAY OUT THE south DOOR and there was only one person selling tickets. (Seriously???) And now the management does ASSIGNED SEATING. So if youre sitting next to someone that is a "talker" or took a bath in perfume, or smokes, youre STUCK. The assigned seating slowed the entire process down as people dithered about what seats they wanted. Then of course, there were the back ups at the end of the rows as people tried to find the row they had chosen to sit in. And yes, there were also the people who sat in the wrong seats. You know what kind of fiasco that is - EXACTLY what you go to the movies for. . . And twenty minutes BEFORE THE MOVIE ENDED four old ladies came in. First they were blinded by the dark and LOUDLY discussed what they should do - they were afraid to move, lest they trip over something. After a couple minutes of discussion, they decided to enter whatever row was closest to them. You guessed it - WRONG seats, especially after one of them sat on a gentlemans lap and another on a coat. Of course more LOUD discussion continued. "OMG, its a PERSON, Judy!!" "Oh dear, I think Im on a coat, Betty. . ." Several people asked them to SHUT UP, but the damsels continued. The movie was RUINED, RUINED, RUINED. Had we not read the book, we wouldnt even know how it ended. Another woman behind us was making so much noise w/paper (through the ENTIRE movie), we thought she might be wrapping gifts! We complained bitterly to the female manager, and told her wed never be back again. For the first time in my life, Im going to start renting movies. I am SICK TO DEATH of RUDE people, especially at the movies. They are FAR too expensive to have to tolerate other people acting like morons. All in all, a HORRIBLE experience. So sad that the owner just put a ton of money into remodeling.

If you have not seen the new Maple Theater then this review will be good for you! They have a superb atmosphere. The theater has some of the most comfortable chairs you will ever get to experience in a theater, and the club seating (which has nicer chairs and tables) is spectacular if you are going to watch and move and you want to grab a bit to eat and have a drink. They will serve food to you in the theater before the show starts and all in all they provide an amazing movie experience. Also the popcorn: A+ Also if you go over to the Great Lakes Coffee which is in the same building (they are connected) you can get the best cup of coffee that you can possibly buy. Me being a fan of really quality coffee, (not just sugar and milk) I really loved the coffee. They have locally roasted beans and at their location they do an amazing job to pull all the amazing flavors out of each of the individual kinds of beans, providing a fantastic, rich, coffee flavor.

Just went to see The Sessions at the new Maple Theatre. 1. Their "matinee" price is $8 - rip off. 2. We asked the usher when the movie started since we had arrived right around the time the movie was scheduled to start. He said we would still have time to buy popcorn. We were the only two in the concession line. When we got into the theatre, the movie had already started. 3. The theatre was pitch black inside and we had to scramble to find seats in a crowded setting. We ended up sitting in the very last row so we wouldnt disturb anyone. 4. By then we were quite disturbed and made a promise to see all future Indie movies at the Main or Bhm 8!

Went to the 8pm showing of La La Land. Movie was OK. Had to use the restroom about 9:30pm. Not one piece of tp in any stall! No hand towels in the machines, no staff in the loby...everyone was gone. Pounded on a door & the "Manager" said he would take care of the problem. He said all of his staff went home & didnt finish their work. Dont you check on your staff before they leave? What if someone wanted a refill on popcorn or a drink, it was all locked up. When the movie let out, there was not an employee in sight, not even the Manager. What if there was an emergency? Nobody around.

Atmosphere was good, Server was on point despite being the only one waiting tables. My only qualm was that it took 40 minutes to get my food, which I was trying to grab something to eat before I went to a special screening, WHich can explain the wait time as there were a lot of people there. The food was interesting and delicious, a delightful spin on a wonderful classic. I had their Grilled cheese and Tomato Basil bisque, as my server stated a "Wombo Combo". I would definitely visit again when they are less busy.

Easily the best art theater Ive ever been to they have a good selection of more limited release titles and special screenings. Excellent screen projection, near Imax quality sound and very comfortable seats. There is also by the far best bar Ive ever seen in a theater and the prices are comparable to what you typically pay for a narrower selection at other theaters and theres even drink specials sometimes.

I used to love the Maple Theater but out has changed. There are restrictions on seating. They dont give refills on either popcorn or fountain drinks. And, most egregious, the attached coffee shop will not sell you a triple cappuccino. They will only sell espresso shots in multiples of 2. Im not putting up with that kind of nonsense when Im spending $5 for a cup of coffee.

Evening seats are reserved, so buy them early. Skip the "meal in your seat" -- its $5 each, youre in the last row, and you get to spill your meal on yourself in the dark. Seating in the dining area is much easier. Parking is free, but gets clumsy in the evening. Art films here (and their sister theater, Royal Oak Main) are typically not shown elsewhere.

I come here sometimes to get some studying done in the coffee/restaurant area, but recently I also went to a Secret Cinema showing and it was fantastic. The movie was great and so was the commentary afterwards. The people who run this theater seem very passionate about film and providing a great experience to movie-goers.

The Maple is a great independent cinema. The venue includes a coffee shop, a bar, a restaurant, and three screens. The whole place has an interesting and welcoming vibe. Among the bar, the coffee shop, and the cinema, its the kind of place at which one would want to spend an entire afternoon or evening.

Great movies, coffee and food. Comfy seats (extra cost lounge seats available). Secret Cinema nights. An oasis in a desert of movie theaters - most others are soulless places full of kids. Although crowded on weekends, weeknights are especially pleasant. Support this local business!

Nice interiors and good audio systems. I really like the soups served over here and the posters around the dining arena. This is a perfect place for movie lovers, I enjoy watching art and indie films in Maple. I always feel that this theater gathers audience with a good taste!!
