I have generally enjoyed the consistently great service and casual yet upscale atmosphere at Bar Louie, and especially enjoyed their happy hours. Unfortunately this was not the case in Auburn Hills. Neither the food nor service was what I have to come to expect, even if this restaurant was part of a shopping mall food court. After wandering the restaurant for several minutes looking for my friend, I sat myself at the bar. The bartender was prompt and asked what I would like to drink, and when I asked for the special, he mentioned the Cider of the month. I responded that I would need a few minutes. Several minutes later he returned, asked us again, and I mentioned that I was starving when he asked if we were going to order food, but he walked away before I could order. When he returned with our drinks, I tried to order food, and admittedly the bartender had something else to do (there was a half full bar and several tables, with what looked like only 3 servers, so a decently full bar for a Monday night). When he came back, I ordered the fish tacos, asking for a 50/50 mix of chicken and fish (not allowed) and ultimately took his advice for the chicken. I asked if we could have the trio dips and chips as well. My friend ordered a sandwich with loaded tots. 16 minutes later, a server brought my chicken tacos and my friends sandwich with fries. She said the chips and dip would be right out, and we said that since our dinner came out first, we wouldnt need the appetizer anymore. 4 minutes later the manager approached us, carrying the chips and dip, and asked if we were sure that we didnt want the chips and dip. It was a sign to us showing that it was already prepared, and I was made to feel guilty for not taking my appetizer with my entre. We refused again. The manager then went around the bar, asking each person if they would like the chips and dip that we ordered and decided not to eat. Two gentlemen, who were well acquainted with the staff of the restaurant, accepted the chips and dip and then proceeded to make comments about why the chips and dip were rejected. Oddly, at this point the bartender became much more amicable and was generally pleasant for the rest of the night. As for the food, it was unremarkable. The shredded chicken was somewhat dry, though the salsa covered that fact and tasted pretty good. Unfortunately the sandwich my friend ordered had no such sauce and was difficult to chew. The loaded tots were only half loaded yet fully soggy, but I guess some people like it that way. Unfortunately, $9 for a beer is far too expensive for me (no prices on the menu!) which caught me off guard, and having a beer, nay, cider special for $5 seems somewhat high too.

Awful! They were hardly busy and as we sat down I stood up at the bar looking at all the choices of on tap beers (being my first time I didnt know there was a list in the menu). The hostess quickly barked at me that our waitress was very busy and to have a seat she will be right with us. I quickly explained I was looking at the selection on tap and she said to look in our menu. Our waitress was polite at first.. But once our food arrived my husband and I sat with empty glasses and wrong entree for almost a half an hour. Our waitress glimpsed over multiple times, continuing to ignore is. I ordered the BBQ ranch salad and it arrived with only half of the ingredients listed. She finally stopped at our table and cleared it, no apologies. I had to TELL her to take it off my bill... Im a fairly polite person as I too work customer service but this is ridiculous! Not to mention that the bartender is wearing colored socks with massive chunky tennis shoes untied flopping around behind the bar. Never coming back and dont recommend to anyone. Terrible first impression. I even wanted another beer but by the time our waitress actually came back to our table she didnt even offer. Waste of time and waste of money!

I seriously love the atmosphere at bar Louie ,however, the service here is expected to be terrible! I have been going here for a long time now expecting service to be terrible, but enjoying the atmosphere. Now, after having the worst service Ive ever had in my life, I dont think Im going back. Our first server did a good job(Yolanda). She soon had to get out and rushed us our bills made us pay. She said someone else should help us. Saw her sit down at a different table close to us to drink. Then it took us 30 minutes before I had to rudely stand up and ask a manager for service. Then they sent us the new girl who got us one round. Then must of forgotten about us. About 20 minutes after I ordered a second she came and asked if we needed anything! Ha. Right. With no second drink and confusion when i asked where mine was. She said "it was busy and she had a lot of things to worry about." So the table, by this time, all needed another drink. After 15 minutes theirs came and mine did not. The server finally stopped by again. She asked how everything was. I said " I would still like that beer please" 10 minutes later it finally came. No joke. It took 45 minutes to get a beer last night. Terrible!!!!

As someone who had never previously been to Bar Louie, I decided to try it on a Tuesday night when they advertised $1 burgers. I decided to upgrade to one of the menu burgers which cost an extra $3.50 which is fine I didnt mind the price at all considering it was a burger for less that $5. When the burger arrived I tried it and immediately realized I forgot to tell the server how I wanted it cooked, it was extremely well done. I asked the server if I could have it remade medium rare. Her response was less than appealing, an immediate attitude change resulted in her telling me that I didnt pay much for that burger and they are too busy to temp every burger that comes in and that if I want it temped I am going to have to pay full price. Putting aside the fact that she was the rudest server I have ever had, it seems Bar Louie doesnt understand the purpose of a promotion night. Offering people like me who have never been in a cheap way to try their food, however you are forced to eat a brick on a bun.

I loved the decor, atmosphere, service and choice of beers on tap. It was great! The issue is the food. I ordered the tuna sandwich and it was VERY fishy! It was SO fishy that I could not eat it. I almost never send anything back. This time, I did. I can only assume that this was past its shelf life! For tuna, that can not be very long. My server, Lynn was great! She suggested the California Chicken Wrap instead. Unfortunately, it has no flavor! I think the chicken was boiled. Definitely overcooked. I ate it anyway. If I eat here next time I am in town, I will try something different. Right now though, I am skeptical. I heard several people around me saying how good one of the pretzels was, maybe next time I will try that.
