I have been to this restaurant a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed myself but today changed my whole perspective on this establishment based on the customer service my girlfriend and I received. We arrived at noon, and after receiving our initial drinks from our waiter it was another 20 minutes before we ever saw him again to place our order. By the time we got our food our lunch break was almost over and we had to ask the server to bring us some to-go boxes, our separate checks, and the sprite that was supposed to come with my girlfriends meal. The server came back with everything we asked for, about 5 minutes later our waiter came by followed by his manager, trying to give us the same things that we had already received from the server. The manager asked us if everything was okay and we responded that we were doing fine, which we were, outside of the delays the food was great and we had no complaints. As we packed the remainder of our meal to go and went to pay our bills we saw that the checks had been split incorrectly, but we didnt mind too much, my girlfriend just tossed me a few dollars for the ticket items that were hers. Her bill was $9.52 all together and so she gave our waiter $50.52, when he returned he only gave her $40 instead of $41. I brought it to his attention and his argument was that he had his $9 so somewhere we must have miscounted and then he walked away. Normally I wouldve asked to speak with a manager to dispute this claim but by this time we both had to get back to work and I didnt have the time. What we did instead was call when we got in the car and asked to speak with a manager. When we explained our predicament to him, he responded saying that he came to visit our table and we told him that everything was okay, granted he came in the middle of our meal not at the end. He said that he was pretty sure that we received the correct change. Eventually, he apologized and hoped that we wouldve stayed to handle the situation. Im not concerned with the miscounting of a dollar because that happens all the time. My issue is that when I brought it to my waiters attention, he blew it off as if we miscounted and had no desire to satisfy our concern. It shouldve never had to get to the point where I had to call back to speak to a manager, we shouldve been able to address the situation with our waiter and it get handled effectively but that wasnt the case. So I am highly displeased with my experience today and I doubt that my girlfriend or I will be returning if this is how we will be treated for addressing a mistake.

When the restaurant 1st opened, they literally ran over you with excellent customer service. The management and wait staff were extremely courteous and professional. Someone greeted and welcomed you at the front door when you arrived, and held the door for you (with a thank you for coming) when you left. It quickly became our favorite Mexican Restaurant. I spent 5 years in the Houston, Texas area (where theres literally a Mexican restaurant on every corner) so that, Ive seen many shapes, sizes, and versions. The once top notch customer service at this location of On The Boarder has deteriorated to well "below" mediocre (to be kind). In an attempt to give the location the benefit of the doubt, weve returned on three or four occasions within the last month and a half. The unprofessional attitude, appearance, demeanor, and conduct of the waitstaff has progressively worsened on each, and every, occasion. Normally, our 11 month old son accompanies us. And, generally, we prefer to be seated at a booth. His highchair is typically located aisle side, so that my wife and I can both share responsibility in caring for and enjoying him. Last night, we brought a little seat with a tray which attaches to the underside of the table, for him to sit in. We were immediately told by a member of the "management" staff that he could not be located on the aisle, as it extended into the walkway and thus partially blocked the fire exit. Since we had set in almost exactly the same booth just two weeks ago (with a highchair) I inquired, what if we had requested a highchair - a larger obstacle which would have been placed in the same location. The individual replied, "we never situate a highchair at a booth - only at tables." As I previously alluded, this was an apparent contradiction to what had been our experience on virtually every previous dining occasion there. So, we began our evening with somewhat of a negative, and although we tried not to allow that to temper our evening, things continued to go downhill from there. The staff was sloppy, engaged in personal conversations, unprofessional, unsupervised, didnt check back on the table, brought the wrong check, there were no bags offered for multiple to-go items, menu orders were taken (and delivered) incorrectly, other customers were discussed, and the fact that a corporate inspection was scheduled for the following day was used as an excuse for inefficiency, distraction, and disorganization.

We visited there tonight with high expectations as always, but was very disappointed. Going out to eat is a treat for us, but tonight it was not. Our server, Shelby, gave us terrible service and made us feel like we were a burden. It was Monday night at 9pm and very slow. The food and service should have been excellent, but both were very sub par. There was absolutely no manager interaction either. Instead of asking how everything was, the server, Shelby was eating chips and salsa behind the bar and the manager was sitting at a table furthest from the few full tables in the restaurant. Very disappointed. We will be back because out of the many, many times we have been here over the years, I can honestly say this has been the only bad experience with both food and service.

We showed up on a Monday night at 6pm and were greeted well and seated promptly. Happy hour from 5-7 meant half-price appetizers and drinks. The margarita was stunningly good, and somewhat strong. The apps were good and prompt. The chips and salsa were very good. We found ourselves wondering where our server had gone. She was slow, inattentive, and didnt seem to care. At one point, she dropped a chip on the floor and stepped around it, leaving it to be crushed and scattered on the floor... picking up must not be her job. The food itself was good, but the chicken dishes were overcooked and dry, even though they were in sauce. The chicken in the soup was actually so overcooked that it was grainy. Would I go back? At half-price, yes.

I came in a few days ago on a little date. Everything was going well, chips, salsa , drinks were catered to us in excellent fashion. Then me and my date get into a argument... she ends up leaving the store In a fit of rage , leaving me alone. Well I still needed to eat dinner so I stayed . Then my server Shelby came to my rescue! She not only got me anything and everything I needed , as she is supposed to for her job, but she also made me forgot about what happened, with her friendly, bubbly , and caring personality. I always enjoy the food and atmosphere here, but this day she made a bad experience in to a good one somehow! Above and beyond expectation, couldnt have been more pleased.
