Westside is just the best, and soon everyones going to know. All the reviews that say its the best are right. Not just the best barbecue in Ann Arbor, but possibly the best restaurant in Ann Arbor, and one of the best in Michigan. My favorite dish is the dirty rice. You get all the different meats in it and the sour cream makes it all work together, along with the two cups of barbecue sauce I get to go with it. I get the brisket and pulled pork a lot too, and will try new dishes whenever they introduce them. All the sides are good but I like the mac and cheese best; its got the perfect creaminess, and a little crispiness too. One of the owners told me the recipe for the roux. The beans are also a must have. Like everyone says, its great value because the portions are huge, I always have leftovers. I live just a minute or two away so its not an exaggeration to say that most of the food I eat these days comes from Westside. The quality and service are unbeatable, and you can tell theyre always trying to improve. This place will be around for a long time.

The Good: Very good flavorful smokey barbecue, the sauce was great also and its on the side so you put it on as you wish. I had the brisket sandwich and it was great. Im sure the pork and salmon are just as good. The Bad: A losing value proposition, the sandwich was $15 and if it blew my mind it would be worth every penny. It would be an outstanding value at $7:50. As others have said the portions (of the sandwiches) are good but certainly not double good. They are said to use the best meats and yada. yada, yada but sorry that doesnt add up to a $15 sandwich. The cheesy potatoes are $5, how are these better than the same dish at a more normal price? Are they free range potatoes? If youre jonesing for some BBQ take a mini road trip out US12 about 5 miles past Clinton and you will find Randys Roadhouse BBQ which has the same smokey dive ambiance and good smokey flavor at much more livable prices and you’ll only spend a small portion of the money you save on gas.

Came in to try the place out today. It was quiet as we were there at an off hour. Ordered the ribs and pulled pork, with sides of potatoes, mac and cheese, greens, and beans. Both orders came with slaw and pickles as well. Everything was fantastic. You could tell it was all house made, and that the people making it cared about their product. Since it was slow, we were able to talk to the people working there a bit, the owners I think. They were friendly and took the time to talk to my four year old. In addition, we tried the chicken and brisket, and both of those were good too. We will certainly back, and will probably take friends and famoly there too.

You walk within a 100 yard radius and you can smell the amazing smoke coming from the smoker out back. And how can you tell that theyre using the smoker properly? Check out the color of the smoke. If its a whiter, whispy color like theirs is, they are smoking the meat properly. When you go in, you can tell its a great little, simple, barebones joint. Exactly how BBQ should be. Ordering is simple, and the menu changes daily. Have had the ribs and pork shoulder, both of which have a great flavor and dark-colored bark. Amazing job, hope this place stays for a long time.

Went today for the first time. Friend of mine from Texas told me yesterday evening to go as soon as possible. Soon as possible was today. Food is bleeping AMAZING. The staff are a delight. The BBQ Pitmaster super cool. Pro Tip: Get there at 11AM. One old dude bought a pound each of the three available meats. And pops wasnt sharing. They were out of the brisket by 12:25 today. I got there at 12:10 and got one of the last three plates of brisket. And trust me when I tell you that you want that brisket on your plate, you need that brisket on your plate!

This place has excellent bbq cooked right out in back of the store. The building isnt much to write home about, but you came here for the food, right? Best brisket Ive had in michigan, also recommend their heirloom bean mix -- side dish. The vinegar cole slaw is so tasty. Can get busy and slow in peak lunch. They often sell out for dinner so always have a backup plan if dining late. Very small dining room seating maybe 10 so its not ideal for a rainy day.

Easily the best BBQ place in town now. Its so good I have to order it to go because I start moaning out loud when I eat it and the place seems like a family atmosphere. I came in with a friend literally following the smell down the street. Im jealous of the guys working there they seem to know what theyre doing and like doing it. Dont bother going anywhere else in Ann Arbor if youre trying to get some BBQ youd be making a mistake.

Is it a little pricy? Yes. But I will continue to happily pay these prices for the exceptional quality. I think its a great value still. Big portions and great flavor. Best BBQ I have ever had in Michigan by far. The Brisket is the best Ive ever had, and the pork shoulder was great as well. I cant wait to keep making my way through their menu. Highly recommend this to anyone in Ann Arbor who has been waiting years for great BBQ!

I must admit that when I first saw the prices - $14 for a Pork Shoulder sandwich, $15 for the Brisket sandwich, I thought we should just find somewhere else to go for lunch. Little did I know that theres enough meat for at least 4 sandwiches or 10 sliders, and it was also the most delicious and tender pork shoulder Ive ever tasted. My friend said the same about the brisket. We will definitely be back for more!

As a guy from South Carolina, I like to think I know good bbq. The offerings here could stand up tall along a lot of the bbq Ive had down south. Unlike some of the other bbq joints in town, this is bbq from the guy down the street with a smoker, not the guy in some high-grade restaurant kitchen quickly making food for the masses.

Oh my God it was the best food ever of my life. Paid $20 for the meal.. If it was $30 I would still come back. This is some kind of voodoo flavor food - Possibly WitchCraft or the dude is an alien from the Galactic food planet. You will gain 5 pounds per meal, even if the food only weighs 3 pounds!

Top notch no frills backyard BBQ! Smoked the right way. Tried the Brisket and the Pulled Pork. Both were very good. Great Bark! Pricey but good BBQ is not cheap. Special Beef Ribs on Saturdays (I traveled from Livonia on a Saturday morning arrived at 1130 but they were not ready yet
