My wife and I stop by here every time we are in the area and the BBQ is always fantastic! We are ex-military and have had BBQ all over the world...this stuff is great if you want BBQ...if you want smoke flavored meat like the reviewer below...then not so much! lol! We were just there on April 9th...I had the pulled pork and "burnt ends" combo plate with corn casserole and baked beans! There was also Texas Toast and Sweet tea to wash it all down! Service is always fantastic also! You can only get burnt ends on Friday, they are sooooooooo good! 3 kinds of sauce to choose from!

It was pretty good! Im from the north so when I asked what came on the chicken sandwich I got a weird look haha! I got the chicken sandwich because I love my chicken...came with a butter bun. Chicken was tender and made perfectly. But there really wasnt anything about the chicken sandwich that stood out to me. The spicy barbecue sauce isnt very spicy...I think it was perfect for anyone to try. The barbecue sauce was great too!! But if your going to come here to eat try something different than the chicken sandwich, Im sure it will be better. I recommend it here!

We decided to try Smokin Gold BBQ, we try various bbq places as we come across them. My husband and I both had the bbq pork, he had the plate and I had the sandwich. I thought it was ok, though my pork had no smoky flavor to it at all. My husband also thought his had absolutely no smoky flavor and therefore didnt much enjoy his. His thought is that, as far as bbq goes, if the meat cant stand alone without the bbq sauce then its not so good. I thought the brunswick stew was good, it did have a smoky flavor to it.

Had lunch here today... first time trying it! Everything was great, especially the BBQ, which was delicious, and the service, which was not only friendly and welcoming, but timely and professional! The baked beans... served piping hot (as they should be) and really good in flavour. Only constructive criticism would be be coleslaw.... a bit bland. Not bad, but just bland. Needs something to step it up... give it some flavour! Will be back for sure!

We visit this little gem once a year in the summer when we take our kids to camp nearby. The ribs are fall off the bone delicious and the brisket is melt in your mouth fantastic. I am not a fan of their brunswick stew, too greasy and runny for my taste, but they have good baked beans and macncheese. Make sure to get your sweet tea to go and they will fill it up for free the same day while you are shopping downtown. Really nice people!

Very good BBQ - and happy to have them in Dahlonega. But - we wish they were open more hours! All too often our family finds the restaurant closed (mostly dinner hours, 5-6pm) and were joined by several other locals and tourists who had a hankrin for BBQ at the same time as well...only to be turned away by the Sorry Were Closed sign. Smokin Gold is not alone - all too many small-town eateries have limited hours.

Hands down - these guys do it right. I have been there now 4 times in the past 6 months from Marietta, Ga and always try to stop by on way up to mountains, etc. You must go on Friday for their burnt ends (KC style) - caramelized, rich, succulent, and just spiritual! Go with the Burnt Ends sammich as you get more and make sure to dive into the mac and cheese!

Get the brisket! Absolutely delicious! Great flavor and texture! The pulled pork is also good, though a few bites were a little scrappy. The Baked Beans were really good. And I enjoyed the Brunswick Stew. And the smoky smell inside and outside makes you mouth continue to water. We ate outside and could smell the green egg smoker going.

I would skip it. BBQ is relatively dry and the sides more than likely come out of a frozen package while the sweet tea is bland. There was no indication on whether we should seat ourselves and when we asked the staff, we were ignored until a lady snapped that we would need to wait. Would not recommend.

The ribs and brisket had a good flavor. The BBQ sauce is well balanced. The mac and cheese was the good country super cheesy kind. You must try the corn casserole. My excellent server recommended it and she was right. She even brought my daughter a bowl of pickles since she loved them.

One of the better BBQ places Ive been to in North Georgia. Being from Texas, I wouldnt go so far as to say the brisket is the best Ive ever had but its pretty close to the top here in Georgia. Everything Ive ever had has been fantastic. No complaints.

The sauce is really good. The barbeque is good too nothing mind blowing. Lastly the sides always hit the spot. The decor is simple and pleasant. The service is quick and feels like they know you. It fits right in with the downtown atmosphere.

Very small portions for a not so small price. My potato salad was still frozen! 3 meat plate had very little meat and what was there was nothing special by any means. Wifes brisket was very fatty. Thank goodness for the mustard sauce....

I dont get this place. No one in our party of four really enjoyed their meal. There wasnt anything wrong exactly, just meh. Turn down the award winning, most awesome BBQ ephemera. Maybe its setting the place up by means of over hyping.

I had the ribs, brisket and brunswick stew. It is without a doubt the best BBQ I have ever put in my mouth. The truth be told, I could not stand BBQ, until I ate @ Smokin Gold BBQ. You can even ask my Momma about the double slap.

I was told about this place from a friend in Peachtree City. This is some of the best bbq I have ever had. I was lucky enough to be there on a Friday and tried some burnt ends that can only be described as meat candy.

Friendly service. Great food. Very flavorful. Little pricey for the portions but not too bad for a lil mountain town. We will visit again.

I had the brisket and my wife had the pulled pork. Both were very delicious but the brisket is their specialty!! Definitely worth trying!!

We stop here every time were in town. They use the green egg and they can meet your gluten-free needs. Their Brisket is GREAT.

The food was excellent, and you can smell the BBQ in the air so you know its actually smoked and not cooked in the oven.
