The dinner was nice. The server ran the into some trouble with the beer selection as the restaurant seemed to be changing out most of their beer stock the night I was there. I had the BBQ brisket sand which on Texas toast with Gouda. The sandwhich came without any sides and was quite small, so I was a little disappointed with the bang/buck ratio. The remaining beer selection was moderate. A lot of the interesting beers were out, so I sampled a few and found something good, but not great. The wait staff was quite pleasant and quick, although they were quite slow that night. The waitress was able to recommend some beer, but she lacked the knowledge to describe each one in detail. She made up for it by bringing a few samples. The overall food ordering experience was quick and pleasant. With the cost in mind, I would probably avoid red rock unless I was specifically looking for BBQ in Ypsilanti. There didnt seem to be any beer specials advertised (its always good to know that I could come back and know I could save money the next time), and I just wish the sandwiches were a little more food ( even for another dollar or two).

Eh. It was OK. I think Ive tried almost every barbecue place near Ypsi/A2 now, and I can honestly say that Red Rock doesnt stack up well with the others. I went with the pulled pork, mac and cheese and fries and my girlfriend got a salad with pulled chicken and sweet potato fries. The pulled pork had no smokey flavor what so ever. Tasted like it was slow cooked in an oven. The sauces werent anything special. The waffle fires, however, were very good. The sweet potato fries were a bit soft, but had an ok flavor. If youre really in the mood for some BBQ, and you dont mind not eating in a really nice looking bar, I would suggest Rons in A2, or Satchels, or Brahma, but Rons is probably the best. Service was OK. Our server got swamped with a huge table full of people who didnt know what they wanted, but for some reason needed to keep his attention, so we ended up being waited on by a few different waiters/waitresses. Props to the girl who stepped in to do refills. She did a great job.

I had the pleasure of going to Red Rock tonight and was blown away that I was still in Michigan. Michigan doesnt do BBQ, but Red Rock does, and knocks it out of the park. The pork was so tender and moist and the smoke was just right. We tried all the sauces but prefered the sweet and hot sauce as well as the house sauce. We used the North Carolina sauce as a dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries and was a perfect match. John, the bar manager, brought us two pieces of corn bread fresh out of the oven just because (might be the best Ive had) and Shawn, the owner gave me a beer from a vendor on the house. The staff is amazing, the food is on point (all scratch made), the beer selection on tap is crazy (many MI beers), and the atmosphere is very welcoming and fun. I highly recommend this joint and could see them becoming a Michigan staple.

This place is amazing. Not only is the food incredible, the staff is top-notch and the atmosphere is incredibly warm, inviting and cozy! I truly do not understand the remarks about the mac n cheese...it is literally the best Ive had in my life. I have had Slows mac multiple times and it always tastes chalky and soul-less. The mac at Red Rock is rich, smoky and so creamy! You can tell everything they make is from scratch and with quality ingredients. The bartenders are super knowledgeable about the many beers they have on tap and are more than willing to provide taste tests if youre indecisive. Ive been here twice on soft opening weekends and 3 times since the official opening and it just keeps getting better! This is my new watering hole and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Reading the reviews below about service and portions, we decided to give it a try nonetheless. Im glad we did. The food was really good, especially the Burnt Tips appetizer. I had the pulled pork entree with a side of apple cole slaw and waffle fries. The cole slaw was fantastic, just the right portions of cabbage and apples. We went during the lunch hour and the service was great. The place was not busy at the time we were there, perhaps that has something to do with the experience? Id certainly go again and would recommend it to others. They offer 4 sauces to try, which compared to some local competitors, is on the lighter side. Parking on the side streets or in a lot may also be a concern for some during busier times; yet dont let it discourage you.

If youre looking for a good beer and a full plate look no further. Shaun or Shawn the owner went above and beyond for me and my family. We noticed that they had a sour beer as one of next months rotating taps and I asked if it were possible to get a secret taste. He was more than receptive to my request, but regretfully informed me that he was waiting on a piece that was needed to tap the keg. None the less, he mentioned that he had a stash of sours downstairs and offered to put them on ice for me. The beer was great, but the friendly "hang out at the bar" experience was even better. The food was delicious and the half rack of ribs was MORE than enough. I highly encourage you to stop in if your driving by. Enjoy with confidence.

When I go for a BBQ place I expect big bold flavors, none of which I received. I had the Bacon Black and Bleu burger with waffle fries, the fries were good the burger was decent because of the cheese. My girlfriend got the brisket with the mac and cheese and garbage fries, the fries were ok, the mac and cheese was ok lacked flavor (shes a big mac and cheese person) and the brisket was cold, dry and lacked soo much flavor that a good, well done brisket should have (also a brisket fanatic and knows a good one). Also our waitress didnt seem to care about us as much as the other tables until we were going to leave because thats when she really started showing up. Really expensive for flavorless food.

Fantastic service, courteous staff and the food is awesome! I LOVE the pulled pork entree with my favorite sides - the sweet potato fries and the spiced apples. My husband has enjoyed the Rock Cobb salad the last three times weve visited and will likely get it again next time. I still cant believe he can eat the whole thing. I have to mention that their Reuben sandwich features the best corned beef Ive ever had. The MacnCheese is already a favorite as a side and an entree for the kids. Our family feels really comfortable with the decor and appreciate we can watch the baseball game on the large flat screens. Sean Cool is absolutely fabulous too. We will be back again and again.

I had the beef brisket with beans and Mac and cheese. The only problem with the food was the temperature. While the Mac and cheese was very hot, the beans were warm and the brisket was room temperature. This is disappointing as the beef itself was flavorful and tender, but disappointingly cold when it should be the star of the meal. "But Amos, why didnt you tell then and they would reheat it?" The waitress was MIA after dropping off the food -- its been 30 minutes as of writing this review and she is still nowhere to be found. I dont question the preparation of these dishes, they definitely would be good if they show up warm. Its just a problem of quality control.
