Arrived between the lunch/dinner rush on a Saturday. Dining room was about half full, 3 of us in our party and we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Waited somewhere between 15-20 minutes before our server even came to our table, I almost flagged someone down but every single worked avoided eye contact. Ive waited tables for 10 years, you know when a customer is trying to get your attention. I almost got up and walked out but it was my nieces birthday so I wanted it to be a fun lunch for her since she picked the place out. Anyhow, by the time our server did arrive we were ready to order everything since we had waited so long. Our server didnt write any of our order down which scared me but I thought maybe she had a great memory so I just let it go. Well our drinks were wrong she forgot half of them (never brought the tea or lemonade) and then never brought out the appetizers...at all and I was dying to try the bao buns. Hysterical in fact that when we finished our meal I asked about the appetizers and the server looked at me like I was crazy. She said "oh I didnt know you still wanted them" Well when I ordered I specifically asked if we could get them before the ramen and if that would be a problem. Im chalking it up to her not writing it down: she did apologize but considering it was her mistake it wouldve been nice to have had it taken off the bill and maybe offered something else. Apparently you cant order sushi during "lunch" time but we watched a lady at the bar area order a plate of 3-4 sushi rolls. When j asked the server about it she said "well you cant order sushi rolls at lunch" so I asked The lady ordered a special and She just shrugged it off and said "well Ill ask the sushi bar but they probably arent going to do it " ok never mind The way she handled it made me feel sorry for even being a customer. The ramen broth in all three of our dishes was decent but the noodles were inconsistent, they tasted fine to me but the noodles in my boyfriends ramen were chewy and hard.

Having recently moved from San Diego, I was sorely missing ramen in my life, and was very excited to try out the Slurping Turtle. I am happy to report that I was not disappointed. My friend and I split the medium sashimi plate, and both ordered different styles of ramen. Were both big guys and this was a very filling amount food! Both the presentation of the sashimi plate, and the quality and preparation of the seafood was excellent. The plate included fish and scallops - but the specifics change daily according to the menu. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and it was as rich and delicious as I hoped. It includes some veggies that all seemed freshly prepared, pork, and a soft poached egg. I would say the only negative on the ramen was the inclusion of a small, yet whole bok choy. While I like it in general, Im not a big fan of the bok choy heart and would have preferred the bok choy to be split up. Likely a personal preference thing and a very small things anyway. The thing that may rub people the wrong way here is the seating. You have to be OK with common tables for the most part. There are some booths around the edges, but the main seating is a few long bar height tables, and you are seated next to people you dont know. Its becoming more common and isnt something that bothered me, but be warned if this is something you care about!

Hands down the best ramen Ive had in Michigan. As far as quality goes, I cant think of any place better when it comes to ramen. Yes the price is a little higher than other ramen restaurants in the area, but I strongly believe that the quality for the price is MUCH better than anywhere else around here. My experience with ramen originated in the west coast while I was living there and I fell in love with the flavorful tastes and great meal that ramen provides. Since moving back to Michigan, the options for good ramen were severely limited. Being in Ann Arbor a couple days a week I decided to try the places here. Slurping Turtle has had me craving it again as soon as I finished the last noodle in my bowl. Great food, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Cant say enough good about my experience here. Highly recommended.

I have been here three times and I really enjoyed the food every time. They have some of the best appetizers Ive had. I almost want to make a meal out of them. The brussel sprouts and the duck fat fried chicken are amazing! The portions of their noodle/soup bowls are very large. Ive always had leftovers. The set up offers you the ability to sit privately or in a more communal long table arrangement where you will be sitting next to strangers. I really enjoy this type of experience but they do have more traditional tables for those who prefer it. The only downside is that they dont have very much variety in terms of entrée selection.

The atmosphere was really nice and clean. The food selection was fine, but for a place whose concept centers around noodles, their variety of dishes is very limited. The service was solid. The food, unfortunately, was overpriced and very bland. I ordered a Ramen bowl with beef ribs, and only received two pieces, and the meat was low quality and mostly fat and bone. The broth was very watered-down, and the Ramen was nothing special. Even the miso soup was watery and bland. Disappointed overall. Ill check out one of the other Japanese restaurants in the area next time.

Good miso ramen, taste delicious. The tan tan noodle taste a little bit weird. I have to wait 20-30 minutes when there are like 30 spaces in the whole restaurant and I am in the third place of the waiting list. The pork belly bao is great. Pork belly is juicy, however, I cant believe that I spend 4 dollar to eat 1 piece pork belly in a bao and cant taste them when I almost ate half of the bao. If this is the first ramen restaurant I visit in United States, I might never went to any ramen restaurant in this country. I dont think these foods worth the money I spent.

Please be aware that you will pay for good atmosphere and location not quality nor tasty food. Their food is just average. Also watch out extra charge without any notice when more veggi (bean sprout) is asked for Tan Tan Men. Even extra $2 was charged, there were no difference. One last thing you should know before you visit is that a communal seating can be offered duiring busy time. Which is way too close to the next seats usually not be offered by a restaurant at that price range.

Slurping Turtle is a typical trendy Japanese restaurant. Its not really authentic, but thats not a bad thing all the time. The food here is average, the ramen is nothing special though. The Raman just lacks the famous ramen taste that you can get for $5 in a typical ramen shop in Japan, but its still. Small dishes are good and the Baos are totally different from what you typically get at another restaurant. To be honest prices are overpriced for the taste and quality of the food.
