Johnny Noodle King is a pleasant surprise. The location was.....interesting and the building was unassuming. Inside is a cool, chic, cozy place. We had seaweed salad, chicken karaage, champon and southwest#3. Most of the broths have pork, chicken and fish base. The Champon has a slight kick to it and the broth was very flavorful. I was not a huge fan of the southwest broth. It kinda tasted like a sandwich in a soup lol but the bf loved it. The highlights of the night were actually chicken karaage and seaweed salad. The salad portion was very generous and the taste was refreshing. The chicken karaage comes in small boneless pieces and were tender and delicious. It comes with kewpie mayo sauce but we actually preferred it without the sauce. The staff was also great! Edit: Went there again. This time ordered two noodle bowls Jasmine style. The heat was NO JOKE! Still delicious though.

This place is the epitome of a shining diamond in the rough. In the very tip of downtown Detroit, this place is compact, heavily crowded, and has a ton of wait time. This, is all worth it. I had the Champion and the Red Curry in the same day, waiting on friends the first time. The savory and spicy tones of the pork belly and fat delighted my taste buds with utter bliss. With loads of proportions, and even a healthy amount of extra broth. The karaage/fried chicken appetizer fitted both my chicken and potato preferences extremely well. Everything both tasted and seemed fresh, with you even being able to see them bulk boil the noodles. Now, my friend said the udon noodles were way too small, but they apologized swiftly and guaranteed a replacement if he wanted. Definitely come in if you want a very authentic and very educated experience of Japanese street cuisine.

DETROITS HAM KING Johnnys been serving up Detroits best ham for 30 years now along with some of the Ds best breakfast. The prices are really cheap and the food is really good. Great fresh ham all day long. Hes been around 25 years and has the best breakfast in Detroit for a little over $ 3.00. This place is two blocks from the Ambassador bridge. Should try the ham and bean soup W O W. Breakfast with three big slices of fresh cut ham, with three eggs and grits or taters and choice of toast. You can choose other meats with the Ham being the of the best in the D. This is a Detroit classic breakfast that attracts many diverse customers. By far the best Ham in the D, been there done that for Mikes Ham and several others. You want a know why Johnnys Ham King has been around for so very long, well you just better try it for yourself.

Disclaimer: This review comes from a vegetation. Not good for vegetarians. Even though they do have couple of vegetarian options. they were not very good. I would even say below average. Generally I love ramen. All of their broth has meet in it, except the Miso (technically it not a broth). So I got the Veggie Miso: Sorry but it was bad, super bland and salty. it had fried tofu, corn, scallions and some beans. and the order took nearly an hour to come to our table. (it was a busy day but still......) the others who where with me had mixed opinion, one guy loved his chicken, other was OK. but not the best. the three stars I gave is for the friendly service and unique ambience (clean hole in the wall). felt like you are in japan.

My one big complaint is price. You dont really get that much "stuff" for 12 bucks. Yeah you end up full but its just ramen, meat, broth, bamboo shoots and a few other things Went there twice in 3 days. First time everything was great, food came out fast and after adding the miscellaneous spices they have had a great meal.(sat at the bar solo), got the Shoyu with both meats Second time around I went with a friend, everything was good but it took about 30 minutes to get our 2 bowls, the waitress never came over after dropping off our app to check on us and I needed to flag another one down to get an update on where our food was (it was Sunday at around 3:30pm) so for the second experience I docked a star.

Our GoTo post work restaurant since it opened. The menu has made some slight shifts since they opened leaving me excited to see if there is a new twist, or even a new bowl every time we show up. RIP Southwest #1/rare beef Hard to pass on the just right spice of the Red Curry and Southwest #2. But if the mood strikes the smooth Pho Ga or the more traditional style Shoyu are fantastic comfort broths/bowls. Lately I have been lucky to catch a bowl/gyoza of the day that sometimes comes through (A morracan and something with large prawns). And I am excited to see if some of these flavors make it into the regular line up. The pork shoulder can easily make its way into any bowl. If in doubt, add some

If this is one of the best Detroit has to offer, I feel bad for the people of Detroit. Id order a variety of items to try. Price is not cheap and food is disappointing. Chicken Wing $3. I thought it was a small order of a few wings. I got one.....wing Pork bun, What? The traditional pork bun uses a thick slick of meat. They use shredded pork that are tasteless. To their bread and butter. Shio ramen. That means salt ramen. It had a layer of grease on top and had no taste....at all. Wheres the salt? Ramen was lukewarm at best. For people that knows ramen, this place would not pass their standards. On the side note, the staff/server were friendly and very accommodating.

I love this place! The food is great and the service is very good. Ive tried nearly every ramen bowl on the main menu and a few weekly specials. I rated 4 stars because of a minor seating issue. Please be conscious of guests sitting at the window table by the door. People waiting to be seated tend to hover in this area, which makes it hard to feel comfortable if youre sitting here. Please make sure people arent bumping into a guest seated/throwing their stuff on the table if a guest is eating there. Its very rude. Other than that, I really like coming here and will continue to visit regularly.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Now maybe its because I went at dinner time, or that i was alone but Ive never experienced worse customer service. I mentioned before that i went alone but somehow manager to be there for almost 2 hours. I saw my waitress 3 times my entire visit, once to take my order, the second when the lemons i asked for were ready half an hour later and the third when I got the bill. They got my order wrong and if I had of waited for the waitress Id have been there all night. That being said the food was okay+. not the best thing Ive tasted but not the worst...all things considered.

I love this place. I used to go to JNK everry single Friday for lunch for a few months, until I moved outside of Detroit, but I still come down there with my wife every once in a while for dinner. The food is amazing and super innovative. I love how they offer daily specials, so even if you get bored with the standard menu (which I dont think is possible) you can still try something new. My favorite has to be the Philly Cheesesteak ramen - amazing and a must try. I also recommend the pork bun, very tasty!! The service is great, the food is amazing, and I really love this place.
