Tried their lunch buffet the other day. The place has decent seating capacity. It has bright walls with picture Dalai Lama on the wall. They had the following on the lunch buffet( i might be missing few items) - * Lentil Soup * Bread Roll * Fried Beans, Brocolli * Plain White rice * Tofu with veggies * Chicken Curry * Chicken Chilli * Beef Curry * Vegetable Mushroom My lentil soup was decent. The bread roll was very strange, dry with no flavour and stuffing of any kind(avoid it). The fried beans were good but I wish it had more spices and red chillies. I was disaapointed with the Chicken Chilli , it wasnt flavorfull and was kind of bland, had to compliment it with hot sauce. The best thing on the menu was the Chicken curry which had a little spicy kick to it and it went well with plain white rice. I remember correctly the buffet was under 10 bucks. I also had the mango ice tea which was really nice. Thes server was attentive. Overall a decent place to have food but nothing exceptional about it.

Weve always passed by this place because we didnt really know what Nepalese food entails. We had a vegetarian friend in town and he wanted to try this place as it had more vegetarian options than other restaurants that serve meat. What a pleasant surprise! We always have Indian food but I think Nepalese food has an infusion of East Asian flavors too. We had the pumpkin balls as an appetizer (I think this was interesting but could be skipped if you have a small stomach. Not bad though) We also had the veggie momo which wasnt bad for a veggie dumpling. My bf had the pumpkin curry with lamb, which the waiter recommended. It was so bomb and highlight of the meal! I think I had the curry fish.. forgot what it was called. It was great too but really the lamb dish was bomb (and I usually dont like lamb. The waiter was attentive and friendly and gave us a great combination of meat with different dishes. Definitely would come again even just for that lamb pumpkin curry!

If I could, I would live entirely off the lemon chicken and tingmo. So good! However this restaurant is very over-priced for the portion sizes (not really any for leftovers) and Ive had some pretty lame service. I understand that a busy restaurant has a lengthy wait time for food, but a half hour between getting your drinks and getting your first appetizer (and another 10 before the second shows up) is a bit much for such a casual place. Ive also received wrong orders on two occasions, and both times it took a great length to bring me the correct food order. I love tibetan food and was happy to see a place so near to where I live, but I must say I do not go here unless I know I have a great length of time to spend, and plenty of money.

I ordered: - Tofu Chili (medium hot) (lightly battered crispy tofu sauteed with chillies and bell peppers in delicately spiced soya garlic sauce) - Brown Rice - Lemon-Ginger Tea I received: - Tofu with mushrooms, with no chilies and completely non spicy. It took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. I asked for my tea, received it, drank it, and didnt eat the dish. I was told the mushrooms were part of the Tofu Chili dish, and that because I had ordered medium-hot was why it was so bland, but they could take it back and add more spice if I wanted. This place has the potential to be great (the food has been fantastic in the past). The service and time and the fact you dont get what you order and they dont fix it is problematic.

I almost dont want to review this place, because then it might get harder to get a table, but I also really want them to stay in business.... The food is delicious and fresh, and includes many options for friends who are vegetarian or vegan or gluten-free. Very reasonable prices, especially since this is a BYOB restaurant, and you can very easily have dinner for 2 at under $40. Their momos are delicious--try the veggie ones, or, they are more than willing to do 1/2 & 1/2 if you want to try more than one type. I love the PK chicken, the tofu delight, lamb with squash and so many other dishes. The Bhale bread is much like naan, but wheat, and thicker. Delicious and perfect for sopping up sauces. Excellent lunch buffet, as well

Ive passed this place a million times and finally tried it. I had the most delightful experience! Service was fast and friendly and VERY informative, thankfully, since Im not familiar with Tibetan food. The server suggested a few dishes with such confidence that it only seemed natural to nod and agree: fried chicken momo, pumpkin curry, and beef shapta. The bread, I cant remember what it was called, was like the biggest, softest, most delicious pita Ive eaten. Everything was perfectly spicy, freshly prepared, and flavorful. I highly recommend Martsa on Elm to anyone looking for an authentic, family-run, ethnic dining experience in Davis Square. Ill absolutely be back!

Horrible service, passable food, but why go there when a short distance away is House of Tibet, about 1,000,000,000 times better? There is also Rangzen in central square, both are vastly superior alternatives My main complaint is the listless, vapid service and the lack of enthusiasm that permeates the entire experience there. The rudeness is a bit shocking but since the restaurant is in the heart of Davis sq it van get new clients every day and theres no need for repeat clients. Perhaps thats why the experience was what it was. Dont go there...

We were turned away at True Bistro and decided to give Martsa on Elm a try having never had Tibetan food before. They had a LOT of vegetarian options for my husband and I. We had the vegetable Momo, the Pumpkin Coconut Curry and the Tofu in Almond Curry with white rice and bread. It was delicious and we appreciated the suggestions from the waiter, who knew the menu well. We also had the ginger lemonade and ice tea which were equally tasty.

Went in for a quiet date night with my wife this past Friday night. Busy but not super crowded, we were seated right away. The menu options can be intimidating, theres a lot to look through. Prices are excellent and the food is quite delicious. They listen to custom requests, and were very attentive and kind. I highly recommend the Pork Momos, and my wife had the Lamb and Potatoes, I had the Ginger Chicken. Definitely going back.

I LOVE this place. I always go here because I work near by. As a Tibetan person, I feel the food is authentic and akin to food I grew up eating. This place serves greatly as a place that transports me back to my childhood. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is kind, funny, and friendly! Cant say enough about this place. :) Make your day better by coming into Martsa!!!

The food in fantastic, no doubt but the servers forget part of your order. Ensure that you follow up in case you want to enjoy what you are looking to enjoy. The food quality has deteriorated in the recent past. Not sure if Im gonna come back soon.

Amazing place! I love the yogurt chicken and the momos. Really worth visiting and trying their outstanding food. If you feel like having a drink there you can pop over to downtown liquors right next door and bring it into the restaurant!
