Terrible food, slow service, even worse disregard for customer satisfaction. Just came from a terrible experience at Yak & Yeti. My husband and I love Indian (and Nepali) food, and even cook it well ourselves, so were looking forward to trying Y&Y after it was voted "Best Indian Food" in the Somerville Scout. BIG mistake. We ordered the steamed chicken momos for an appetizer--they took half an hour, and when they came out, they were dry, and the top of the momos was not even fully steamed, so the edges were hard and crunchy. I got the Lamb Palak and my husband the Palak Paneer. When the entrees came, the rice was regular white Uncle Bens, not basmati at all. The meals themselves tasted so strongly burnt, that we couldnt even eat them. I cant remember the last time I sent a meal back--I hate to do it; it ruins your night out (either prolonging it with lots of hungry waiting for a 2nd choice, or leaving and having to find another restaurant). But this was awful. Even the peshwari naan was too thin, and was like a sweet cracker, rather than soft, foldable, bread. It shattered when I went to tear a piece. We spoke to the ?manager, and he offered to let us order something else, but we were done. Two bites was too much--I couldnt get the terrible taste out of my mouth. Then the bill came--and we were charged for every bit of crappy food! We spoke to the manager again, and he said they "didnt give discounts". Even the atmosphere was not good. The table was so low, it was at my bellybutton level (and Im only 55"), so if I wanted to lean over to hold my husbands hand (it was date night, after all), I was crouched over. The plate was none too clean, and the music was loud enough to make conversation less-than-intimate. Just do yourself a favor and stay away. After being forced to pay for an inedible meal, we are notwat home eating scrambled eggs.

I poked my husband a million times and asked him why he has never taken me here. He got annoyed, and so off we went! We went for the buffet on a weekend. Now, this place will go down in history--as the first place that Ive managed to not get sick (from overeating) when faced with mountains of Indian food. Yay! Im an adult! I ate a little bit of almost everything, because I have very little self control when it comes to Indian food. Everything was super delicious. Every meat dish was fall-off-the-bone tender. The vegetables were perfect. I was completely and totally confused by some of the stuff at the beginning of the buffet, but I was too busy eating everything else to worry too much about it. But even though Indian food is the best thing ever, the real reason this place gets 5 stars is that the service was amaaaaaaaaaaazing (with at least that many as). I dont even understand how they timed everything so perfectly. Our naan plate was never empty, and our water was constantly refilled. And when it was time to leave--the check magically appeared within 5 seconds of us wanting one. So should you come here? Yes. Is it authentic? Idunno. Like, I seriously suck at judging Indian food because its all delicious. But the staff, ambiance, and everything makes this place worth a try!

Uncooked and unhealthy food i ordered for pick up on sept 13 around 9.30 pm. i knew they close at 10 pm so i asked if they were able to make food. they said they will make any order. so i placed order for 2 chicken soup, 2 vegetable samosa, 1 chicken choyala, and 2 chicken momo. i went there and picked up food. and when we were ready to eat i noticed there was no choyala,so i called right away, the guy told me they are closed at that time and asked me to come on next day to pick up food. and chicken momo was not cooked and smell very bad, smell like rotten. i was so mad with restaurant. if they cant make order then they could had simply said they cant do it and why the hell they would sell rotten and smelly food. i went next day with rotten food, those guy first denied then i told them i will complain to health department then they asked me to get different food. i asked for my refund which they denied to give it back. do not order food from this restaurant at night time. trust me they will miss order and also high chance of getting rotten food. I am going to write to city of Somerville about this restaurant

Simply amazing. Possibly the best Indian food Ive had. I really liked that they have a Nepali menu, as thats not something Ive tried before. I got the Chicken Mo-Mo from the Nepali appetizers and was stunned at how juicy and how savory they were. We had a small snafu where our Naan order didnt come out very quickly, but they recognized this without us having to say anything, and then gave us an extra order of Tikka Masala for free when the bread actually came out. All without any prompting on our part. In addition, they give you some delicious fried vegetable thingy at the start of the meal. Not sure what it was, but it was a nice little bonus.

Only been here for their lunch buffet and I must say I wasnt completely impressed. While they had a good selection of options including vegetarian, the food wasnt as appealing and seemed to have been sitting out for a while. Perhaps it the severing trays they use or that the food didnt seem that hot both times I went but I would definitely go back and try again maybe for dinner. The prices were pretty good and I got an amazon local deal for the buffet so the price was completely worth what I got. They bring out fresh naan to order so that was nice as well as having a mix of Indian and Nepalese options.

Thought of ordering some chicken momos. So glad we didnt. It was in the buffet menu itself so we got from there. I took one bite and couldnt finish the rest. It was so horrible. Seemed like they got the ground chicken, wrapped it in wanton wrap and steamed it. Rest of the food was also horrible. Insult to Nepalese cuisine to be honest. Went out if the restaurant hungry after spending $13. If the owner is reading this comment " nepali khana ko beijjat nagarnus. Please ali ramro khana banayera khuaunus customer lai"

Ive liked everything Ive had here. The inside is really attractive which matches their food prices (a bit high). I dont know much about Nepali or authentic Indian, but the garlic naan was great, the mint chutney was good. I think theyre on the spicier side. I went with medium the first time. The tandori chicken was good and lamb masala was good. It isnt the best ive ever had, but it is the only one around and is a solid B/B+

I went just about 20 minutes before closing time, but my food was ready in 10 minutes. I had the chapli kebab wrap and it was delicious! Not too expensive (it cost $9) and the wrap more than filled me up; thats saying something since I was ravenous! I definitely intend to go back!
