my family and I love the Yamato restaurants. Weve been going for years at the Chiswick Road location in Brighton. We started to go to the one on Boylston street because of the convenience and a few of our favorite waiters/waitresses were moved there. Sushi quality is top-notch and the non-sushi menu is also really good! One complaint: During our most recent visit we had a new waitress serving us, she was nice but she was convinced that we were not going to finish what we ordered and told us to order less. We told her that we were aware of being charged double if we dont finish our food, which we always finish. We told her to keep the order as is. The food comes out about half an hour later and the portions are significantly less than what we had ordered. We complained to her and she said "I changed the order for you, you can order more when you finish this." Who the hell does that???

Reasonable quality food (in general), keep in mind this is an all you can eat sushi restaurant that caters mainly to the college crowd, as such dont expect gourmet sushi or sashimi (if youre there for dinner). If youre looking for good quality to price ratio it is satisfactory. If you want to take advantage of their all you can eat option, I highly recommend eating lunch here during the week, as its a lot cheaper than dinner, or just eating here during the weekend in general. If youre going with a group larger than 4 people its worth considering to call ahead for a reservation, since the restaurant does get pretty full for dinner on weekends.

Ive eaten my fair share at Yamatos 1 over the years, and Im familiar with the customer service and the like. Yamatos 2 would get a zero if possible though; a water pipe broke over the weekend, which prevented them from opening. Life happens, I feel for them, but our 10 person group did not get a single phone call or warning until we made it all the way over there. When I called Yamatos 1 for something of an explanation or even a discount to cover getting all the way to Yamatos 1, they dismissed both. Horrible customer service! Good riddance

I was here last Tuesday for first time with a friend. I let her do all the ordering and the food was great. My favorite dishes from the whole lunch menu was the udon. Seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil with mixed of vegetables and seafood like one shrimp and plenty slices fish cake. The services was slow considering it was Tuesday, 3PM afternoon. My friend having to ask for green tea not once but three times is a bit much. Which is why I took one star away from this review. Food is great and would come again to try it again.

Good sushi and others. Serve very quick. Neat place. A pretty good choice to fulfill your appetite of an all you can eat sushi.

Awful and crazy place. Seems that all servers are Chinese and they are not watching customer. They are just having chat or I even saw server sleeping in front of casher and doing smartphone at table. If you want to order food, you have to starring them of 10 minute, because servers are thoughtless. Also, restroom is like 16th century toilet. Smells a lot and dirty. Food were very bad. It is my first time having this much smelly raw fish.

I was skeptical. All you can eat sushi doesnt seem like a good idea. I imagine low-grade fish and maki thats 90% rice. Nope. This place is fantastic for the price. I usually get wakame salad, shrimp shumai, a few rolls, some sashimi, etc. I always leave full and happy and a little guilty at how little I payed. The service is not always the most prompt or attentive, but again, for how little I am paying, I usually still give them 30%.

Poor service ever! Really rude. I came to the restaurant first than my friend and I asked for a table, the guy at the door (see the picture) refused to give a table until my friend arrives. He said I cannot seat alone. Even when I said I want to be seated while Im waiting to have some water and take off my coat. He said no. First time I see this in a restaurant. So rude. Think twice if you want to come to this ugly place.

I love that the original Yamato expanded, as the wait got pretty long with the old one. This one is much bigger and seems to have a ton more staff. The sushi is pretty good quality compared to other all-you-can-eat places, and is one of the few all-you-can-eat sushi places. Obviously, parking around here is going to be difficult, but this location is so accessible. I often come back here.

I dont like all-you-can-eat restaurants, but this one offers good quality for the price and, given the very central location, it is difficult to beat. If you choose a-la-carte menu, you end spending little less then the price for the all-you-can-eat, but at least you dont feel force to eat over the limit. If you are up to a lot of sushi, now you know where to go

Good sushi. Sashimi and dessert only available for dinner on the ayce (all you can eat) menu. They try and not be wasteful by enforcing a "fine" if you dont finish your order (2x price per item). Service can be hit or miss, I suppose depending on how busy they are and who you get. Highly recommended. Love the tempura sushi and red bean ice cream. Will return

All you can eat sushi for $17!, with an option of including sashimi for $26?!. Im in!. On top of that you get the chance to order from a long list of hot dishes to complete your meal. Best sushi rolls are the Dragon and Caterpillar sushi rolls, on the sashimi side, salmon and white tuna are the best, from the hot menu I loved the steak and salmon teriyaki.

Great sushi, sashimi and ramen. Service is not that good though, wait staffs seems to ignore their customers. We waited for almost ten minutes before someone come over to serve us. No one clean the table after the customers left and it was not even busy. The two tables next to us were still not clean up after we stayed for an hour.

Great place to go to for the all-you-can-eat sushi. A bit pricey, but definitely worth it. A go-to place among my friends, this eatery is great for groups. Careful not to fill yourself up on the water; the staff are too keen on refilling your water glasses. I highly recommend ordering the unagi eel sushi - its delicious.

My friend who grew up in China tried this place and thought it was some of the highest quality sushi he had ever tried! One of my favorite restaurants in Boston! Id recommend the all you can eat! About 17 bucks for lunch. 25 for dinner. Lunch gets you sushi and Maki. Dinner gets you that plus sashimi.
