Short review: Go to Great Wall in Bedford, MA if you are looking for a good chinese restaurant in the Concord area. Long Review: The food is decent and the decor is nice, but that is about all that Chang An has going for it. We visited for the lunch buffet, and our waiter, Allan Li, was terrible. He poured us water as he asked if we were there for a buffet, and once we said yes, he was nonexistant. He never asked if we needed anything, not even drinks. I only got a soda at the end of the meal when he made an appearance and I asked for one--then he charged me for two sodas! The majority of time we spent there was waiting on him to show himself in the dining area to flag him down. The buffet has okay food, but very small selection, and they dont keep the food stocked, so be prepared to wait. Overall, I would recommend going to Great Wall in Bedford, MA. It is cheaper, has better food, service, and atmosphere.

Nice restaurant with a convenient location for Concord residents. It amazes me that so many people go there when the food is mediocre at best. Im cantonese and my comments are based on my preference for cantonese-style cooking. The food at Chang-An always disappoints me - the hot and sour soup comes across as diluted, the low mein is basically all noodles with little else, the entrees rarely include chinese vegetables like bok choy or gai lon, and I find they load it up with button mushrooms instead of using dried chinese mushrooms. Ginger Court in Acton was one of the best chinese restaurants in the suburbs until it closed this summer. Unfortunately, there arent any alternatives in the Concord area for Chinese food. There are some decent alternatives if Im willing to drive 15-20 minutes. However, if Im too busy to make it myself, and fed up with pizza, then Chang-An will have to do.

I started an a new job in the area and have been looking around for some great lunch spots. My experience as Chang An unfortunately was very unpleasant. Although the restaurant is clean and the servers are attentive and friendly, the food itself leave much to be desired. The buffet food was cold and the food was not fresh, I think it had been recycled once or twice over. This is the first time at a Chinese buffet where I couldnt eat anything on my plate other than green beans. Growing up in Quincy where excellent Asian food is in abundance, I am very familiar with what is considered to be authentic and top-notch Asian cuisine. Im sad to say that Chang An far below what I would consider an excellent dining experience.

We went there on a weekend and were told that the buffet was closed, though the menu didnt mention anything about buffet closing earlier. We were told rather rudely that the lunch also would be closing in 40 minutes (which according to me is plenty of time to order and eat). In spite of this, we decided to have a quick meal and leave (which was a mistake). The waitress was very rude and was so loud that she could be heard till 6 tables away. Surprisingly, the tone and temper mellowed totally down when she was taking the order from another family seated right next to our table. Not sure if they behave differently with different customers, but i am not going there again.

I am Chinese and am used to authentic gourmet Chinese food. I tried this restaurant some years ago and vowed never to do it again. The food was totally awful and people(from manager to waiters) were rude. They had this unpleasant face as if you owed them money. Dont be sucked in. Their food is for Americans who cant tell the difference between decent and awful Chinese food.

We went to for lunch buffet. Even though there was only one other table occupied, we were asked to sit towards end as we asked for high chair. Thought might get busy...guess what until we finish our lunch we were the only people. There were not enough choice of food on the buffet, more so nothing but very average. Only two thing we had are noodles and hot tea.

Responding to the one star rating. This restaurant gives good Chinese flavor without food swimming in oil, salt and fat. Impeccably clean, this is not Chinatown. It is Concord, Ma. Outstanding value for delicious Chinese food and, and, and a full service bar at lunch and dinner. Upscale Chinese food at good value.

We love this place! The food is much lighter than many of the heavy Americanized Chinese restaurants around. We have been eating here for about 15 years and never had a bad experience in the restaurant or with takeout. Nothing but good stuff to say about this restaurant and the family that owns it.

I have visited the Saturday buffet three times with friends. I suggest we go elsewhere to sample other restaurants, but they like the buffet too much to go elsewhere. I eat my fill and enjoy it too. The waiters consistently stop by and refill our water glasses too.

The service is variable, but the food is excellent when you eat in. Take-out seems less fresh. Scallion pancakes, General Gaus Chicken and Sizzling platters are the best Ive had in and around Boston.

I exclusively get takeout from Chang An. The food is standard Chinese takeout, and it is good if a little expensive. It takes me 10 minutes to get there and my food is always ready when I arrive.

I wanted to like this restaurant, its a very convenient location, but is very possibly the WORST Chinese food Ive ever had. ordered 3 entrees and soup and all were truly horrible.

Cheap buffet with some good choices. Usually not too crowded for lunch so no wait if you have less than 5 people. The food is tasty and has all the classics.

The service was excellent but the food was anything but that. It seemed bland and was quite expensive. The fried chicken was very tasty, would recommend.
