My dad used to order on Fridays their house fried rice with the fried shrimp and bring it home. To my opinion it was the best chinese food I had ever tasted... at that moment... Me and my husband were looking for a good chinese restaurant so I remebered Mon Kou where my dad use to order almost every friday. I went online to see the rating first (I check ratings for everything) and most of them were great. I felt a bit confused and in denial with the bad review affy9 wrote but after going to the place myself, I can understand a lot better what she meant. Place: When we got to the place (Tuesday Night 6/22/10) I notice the parking was real easy and the place is also very easy to get to. When I first walked in I was surprised to how nice the place looks inside... very farrr from tacky... a lady then greeted us politely and walked us to our table. Waiter: Unfortunately that lady was not our waiter and we ended up getting who Affy9 reffered to as a busboy or dishwasher. Our waiter had no social skills at ALL just like Affy9 said... As he came in he poured water into our cups and NEVER asked if we wanted drinks. He brought over the dipping sauces and some bread with butter shortly after. I also had no clue what the sauces were for because I know it did not go with the bread... I noticed after that, the fork on my side of the table had a dried peice of rice stuck between. I was disgusted. Food: Me and my husband ended up ordering a simple meal... Pork fried rice & fried chicken wings... it really was just plain gross... The chicken tasted as if it had been fried and then frozen and now fried again for us to eat. The rice was not fresh at all and it had a funny taste to it too. Waiter: I later then asked our waiter for some napkins and he kept pointing at our table cloths (which I will never use to wipe my mouth). I had to literally show him what a napkin was. I was unsure if he truelly did not understand napkin or if he was being cheap and replaces napkins with table cloths... I asked him if he could serve me some coke and instead of saying sorry we only provide pepsi he was like ohhhh only pepsi only pepsi... ?? As we were beyond prepared to leave, our waiter walked by with a big black trash bag getting ready to take the trash out. He noticed we looked at him and he asked if we were ready, I said yes.... he was like ohhh hold on... Im thinking in my mind how gross and entirely unprofessional that our waiter who brought our food to our table is also the garbage boy.... Overall: I left giving no tip and with disappointed. It really does seem that the only effort from them was the decorations in the place... Maybe Tuesdays are not so busy and on Friday you would get fresher food but to my opinion that is no excuse. My rating to this place is what they offered me... Bad food and Service...

Unfortunately I received a bit of attitude when I walked in the door. I was a party of one and when I asked to be seated in the dining room for dinner (instead of the hosts assumption I was there for take out) the host exclaimed rather sarcastically, "Oh, a party of one, you mean." I frankly, didnt appreciate the broadcast and attitude in the slightest and found it to be rude. I, regardless, allowed them to take me to my table. I, then, waited at my table for some time and I had several servers pass me by without even acknowledging me. Now, I understand that was a party going on and they were busy (I will give them that), but I am a customer just like anyone else and 10 minutes to even be acknowledged is far too long. I doesnt matter if Im by myself! The waiter actually came right as I was getting up to leave, so I stayed. The food was good! The atmosphere was decent as well! The service - unfortunately - is what causes me to consider other Chinese places before this one. It also causes me not to recommend the place to any of my friends or family. I hope the restaurant can work on the service front, because it does make a difference.

Ordered a Pupu platter for two, Fried Rice and small Hot and Sour soup. Also asked for a side of Black Sticky sauce, sometimes called Oyster Sauce. Paid over forty dollars, got home and found lumpy brown swill in place of Black Sticky sauce, so I called back and they told me - after lots of dodgy language - that I should have asked for Black Sticky sauce instead of saying Oyster Sauce. But, of course, I had referred to it in both ways several times. Anyway, then the soup smelled like old socks. Ive had Black Sticky Oyster Sauce, and Hot and Sour Soup every time I order Chinese food. The acting like it was my fault in ordering and the awful aroma of their soup, as well as how costly this was for what I got makes me a very unsatisfied customer. I will never go there again, and I sincerely hope the building is auctioned off to Jiffy Lube. At least thered be a better use for all that grease.

The Mon Kou was always a favorite to go to for authentic Chinese food experience. When I moved close to the restraunt I was excited to be able to get Chinese food take out on a regular basis. But the take out service has been awful! Burnt rice multiple times, missing items, and also being served a completely warm beer while I waited for my take out seems to be commonplace for this establishment. When alerting them of the problems we were having, the staff replied angrily as if to blame us for the problems. With there being 3 Chinese restaurants within a half mile of each other near the Mon Kou you would think that customer service would be a priority with them but it seems they want to send business to the other restaurants.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Its a poor excuse for an astabliment. Worst experience ever. Awful service. Slow kitchen. And even after we asked to speak to the manager no one came. We waited for over an hour. Our food came out out of order and the waitress couldnt even be bothered to walk by the table. It was very clear that she was avoiding us. Not to mention she sassed me when I didnt touch my "fresh" food. OH - AND SHE DIDNT EVEN ID ME! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY SIMPLE FOR MY UNDERAGE COUSIN TO ORDER AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE. Never going there again. Plus they sat us in the old broken booth in the back. Lots of issue and aint worth the cals or money!

Went Wednesday evening to meet another couple. We sat at table in bar area. Fast service, however waiter was in a hurry to clean up and get us our check. Place was not busy, so its not like we were taking up valuable space. We wouldve had a few more drinks but because waiter was rushing us to pay we left. Ordered 2 pupu platters for ea couple. He scattered leftovers so we couldnt get what was ours because our friends was mixed to gether. We never go out and this was a bad sit down experience. Waiter needs to chill out. We were there for a little over an hour.
