I dined at Chez Pascal on date last week. New to Rhode Island and not living in Providence, a few friends recommend the restaurant for it combination of French cooking and locally-sourced foods. Our waiter (or maybe it was the sommelier) provided helpful suggestions for a wine paring; we finally settled on a Swiss Pinot that was remarkably well described by the sommelier. We started with both the charcuterie and the three cheese plate. Significantly larger than the three cheese plate, the charcuterie was quite filling and, combined with the cheese, almost filled the two of us up. The meats were satisfyingly varied and had unique garnishes that nicely balanced the proteins. Able to pick from a larger collection of cheese with recommendations from our waiter, we sampled locally produced cheese from sheep, goat, and cows milk; all were good. For the main course, I had the roasted half chicken which was appetizing but the combination of the diced, roasted roots and seared rice cake made the dish a challenge to finish. The chickens skin was crisp and the meat was moist but the poached garlic sauce was a little too subtle. My date had the marinated skirt steak that had been sauteed with wilted greens in a red wine sauce topped with a generous portion of horseradish. I preferred the skirt steak. We were so full from the two course that we passed on dessert. Overall, the meal was quite good.

I cannot overstate my partiality to this establishment. The amazing, knowledgeable staff always treats us like very special guests The atmosphere is warm and colorful, the lighting, a perfect pitch, and the food is a marvelous and delicious adventure. The seasonal menu is always wonderful, whatever is offered. A very few things, like the sublime slow roasted duck, appear to be there all year long, although the sides change according to what ingredients are fresh and available. A standard offering like Escargots à la Bourguignonne is consistently the best anywhere, demonstrating why this creation is famous in the first place. An interesting note is that the desserts here are exquisite revelations, with more depth than most restaurants best entrees. Now, if that sounds like wild hyperbole, just experience for yourself the Pear Upside Down Cake with Great Hill Blue Cheese, Walnuts, Caramel Sauce & Crème Fraîche. When I am with my love, wherever we may be, I am home. When I am at Chez Pascal with my love, I am in heaven. What a special place.

This review is specifically for The Wurst Kitchen, which is an addon to Chez Pascal. A fantastic out of the way place for lunch. The restaurant claims their sausages are all made on site and their flavor and appearance backup that claim. Each sausage comes with a specially designed set of toppings and sauces which compliment the sausage well. Even our daughters house made Hot Dog was "the best hot dog ever." (After trying it, we concurred with her on account that the saltiness was well balanced and the flavor was most pleasant. They have dine in, or a take out window perfect for eating at the park across the street. Prices are about $9-10 per sausage. They also have a mix of everyday sausages with some rotating special flavors. Absolutely intend to visit again on my next trip to Providence.

Dinner at Chez Pascal was wonderful. Classic French technique with local ingredients made for an awesome meal. Portion sizes were very reasonable - I was absolutely stuffed after an app and entree. Definitely could have gotten by without the app, which was the best French onion soup Ive ever had. Average entree is $26, but well worth it. My wife and I both got the duck and were stunned at how good it was. Leg was confit, falling off the bone with crispy skin and the breast was perfect - mid-rare and fat rendered perfectly. Awesome place.

Literally the best restaurant in Providence. No joke. And i havent even eaten at Chez Pascal yet. The Wurst Window is the greatest addition on the planet, not to mention they are a 20 second walk from my home. I often walk over there and grab whatever the special is. If youre there during the day, you MUST try the Bacon Wrapped Pork Meatloaf with Cole Slaw and Fig Compote. Youll wish you had room for more than one.

Happening spot, friendly staff. Enjoyed the romantic outdoor seating in the evening with all the bistro lights. Their sausage was excellent--and so cool that it had its own custom-designed trays-- but the real winner was the burrata (from their seasonal menu?). Cheesy goodness to the max. Good cider and plenty of gluten free options to choose from make this a fine addition to the restaurants in the area.

Went to the Wurst Kitchen for lunch. Refreshingly different and VERY good! I had the cheddar wurst and a hotdog and was very impressed. They really care about their product! The only reason I deducted 1 star was for the price. They are VERY expensive. I know they use quality ingredients and take care in making their dishes but their prices just seem a little excessive! Otherwise VERY good and happy I went

Love everything about Chez Pascal and Wurst Kitchen. Wonderful menu featuring locally sourced selections (the charcuterie plate is a favorite) and imaginative specials, two excellent reasons to go often. Everything is always perfectly prepared and the service impeccable. At the same time, it is every bit a friendly, neighborhood place, never pretentious.

I am giving this place 4 stars because our server was borderline rude during the first half of our dinner to the point that our party of four felt uncomfortable every time she approached the table, but towards the second half of our dinner it was a very pleasant and charming experience. The food was great and the deserts were out of this world.

The food was great, but we were seated at a table in the Wurst Kitchen that was so dark have no idea what the food looked like. The owner did apologize and told us that she had been struggling with the lighting at this particular table for more than 15 years. Incredible that the owner still allows people to be seated at this table.

We went here to celebrate a special day. It wasnt very crowded. Our waiter was a little pretentious, but in an earnest sort of way. The food was great, very French-American. Maybe a little too pricey, but its a seasonal menu with carefully chosen fancy ingredients.

Superior cuisine. They make a point of creating a seasonal menu using local ingredients. Their Wurst Window offer fantastic sandwiches and a little inside nook in which to enjoy some pub fare, separate from the restaurant. Try the pork trio--always superb.

The food and the atmosphere of this place is outstanding. Sitting at the bar is a treat as there is always good conversation to be had. But make no mistake, the food is the star of the show. You never leave unsatisfied but always wishing you had more.
