If you are looking for gender discrimination and low-grade sexual harassment, this is the bakery for you! I began shopping at Spring Mill when I first moved to DC last summer, but I stopped buying their products due to the lack of ingredient labels on sweets, sweet breads, and often the packaged bread. Then at the end of February I grudgingly began buying lunch at the 8th street store because it was best option within walking distance. I was disgusted to over-hear a male worker relay a funny story about a trip to Hooters to another co-worker. It is tragic that we live in a world that objectifies and sexualizes the young female body, and the conflation of money with this objectification has a big impact on womens status. I have to once again be grossed out while buying food at Spring Mill. Never again will I shop here.

Saw on the Main Street Takoma facebook page that Spring Mill Bread Co. finally soft launch opened today. We came over here to check out their store. Just bread and baked goods for now, but all looks delicious. Next weekend theyll fully open with sandwiches as well. Im looking forward to a new spot in Takoma to hang out at for some food and a spot to work a bit. We bought a loaf of bread, but havent tried it yet. Its sitting in my bag as I walk home. Will update once we try the bread. :) Update: 7 grain crunch bread is excellent and stayed fresh for a few days. Will be buying more bread from here.

Great loaves of bread and treats are good as well. I usually buy a loaf of bread that lasts a week or two (via freezer) and have enjoyed eveything Ive tried thus far! Last visit I was offered a sample, to which I agreed, and was handed a thick slice of their cinnamon swirl bread. It was such a gesture of generosity and pride I was quite impressed, plus it was delicious! The place is steeped in goodness, not only in the baked goods they produce but in the sfaff and operation as well. Easily a favorite!

Spring Mill is fine if you want a place for a coffee, chat and chew. Its just not a particularly good bakery. The bread equivalent of any of the myriad of here and gone local breweries. Its filling a void and will continue to do so until something better comes along. ive bought from them probably 40 times. Had a nice Apple streusel once. Nothing else yet worth buying twice. But you dont have to take my word for it. Stop in, they do samples.

Only been to Takoma Park location. Coffee is good and strong. My favorite standy sandwich is the BLT but the turkey is really good. I purchase the Rocky Road at least once a week. Staff is GREAT!

Great bread and good sandwiches. Expect a little premium pricing, but great quality every time. Get their punch card if you buy bread a lot.

This would be five stars for bagels. Great everything, but really, who eats a bacon, egg and cheese on regular bread?
